- ITS TOOL TUESDAY'S!!! On this segment of Rappers React Smokey and Hollywood react to Tool "Descending" and oh how we were impressed. We ask you guys to vote on what song we should do for this Tool Tuesday and we are thrilled that "Descending" was the winner. We will be reacting to a new Tool song every Tool Tuesday with the help and recommendations by everyone. Any suggestions, send them our way!!!

Trash Talkers TOOL honestly don't have a bad track. Early TOOL is raw and angry. Older TOOL is Epic prog at the level of or above Floyd and Zep in my opinion. ✌

I love all Tool.. but really I have loved early Tool since I heard them back in 93 when I got out of the Army. I wasn't on board in 92, but still consider myself OGT. Opiate (EP) and Undertow are still 2 of my favorite albums of all time.

Especially Cassandra Gemini. That part where Cedric sings “now there’s no light, in the darkest of your furthest reaches” can make a me cry if I’m in the right mood.

The epicness of this song didn’t hit me until i heard the studio version. It’s a masterpiece and top 5 TOOL song for me. Explore the disc version, then, listen to em live.

You aren't gonna see much of Maynard, he's in the dark corner by the drums, do parabol/parabola next
Lateralus is the only song that contains the Fibonacci Sequence. They have an album of the same name but, only the song contains this sequence of numbers.
Also, Maynard stays in the back. You can spot him occasionally but, he's not up front and center. There are a few reasons why from what I heard. I've heard he has serious stage fright. I've heard that he prefers to be in the back so that the rest of the band is highlighted rather than everyone just looking at him in front. That way he acts as another instrument instead of the main focus. Who knows? He's been doing this though for a long time now.

Live performances are much more impressive when your actually there...so someday listen to the studio version for a more in depth listening...and add the lyrics...its beautiful and heavy

OLD SCHOOL Tool fan here. I just discovered you guys tonight, and have been watching non stop for the last five hours. You two have made me fall in love with Tool all over again, its been amazing discovering them all over again through your ears. All Love to you
3 musicians creating such a wall of sound, and able to command a stage that size even without their "frontman" in front. Mastery level. Add in Maynard's incredible vocal instrument...Tool is a band unlike any before or to come.

Tool has been my therapy !!! Has been with me at my lowest and at my best.
Small anecdote.. Adam Jones of Tool and Tom Morello of RATM were growing up in Park Ridge IL back in the early 80's and were in a band together called Electric Sheep. They eventually split up when Adam decided he didn't want to play Bass any longer and left the band eventually going to LA and forming Tool as lead guitarist. Tom Morello arrived in LA a year or two later and met Zack and started Rage.
Also, Paul D' Amour who was the bassist for Tool on Opiate and Undertow ended up leaving Tool, because he wanted to be a Lead Guitarist..
I’ve been following TooL since 1993. I’ve seen them over 60 times live and would love to pay for your 1st show!

When they played in Birmingham, Al last May they played this mid-set. Later that night debuted WHEN the album was going to drop. As a Southerner (TN born) that meant a lot. They didn’t tell NY or LA first..... Alabama. That was amazing. Excellent reaction guys. WHAT DID YOU THINK OF MANIA THOUGH???? Let us know! Podcast subject maybe????

They wouldn’t let phones be out. If you were seen recording you were escorted out. The only song you could record was the very last song, Ænima. It was incredible! I was very much tranced and in the moment. It was perfection!!

Tool is by far my favorite band. As far as seeing a tool show DO IT. I drove from Buffalo to Pittsburgh to see them for the fear innoculum tour. It was by far and above the best concert I have ever seen. I had an out of body experience during descending. Absolutely incredible. PLEASE listen to the studio recording it blows this out of the water. Smokey would love ticks and leaches from the lateralus album.
The Tool member who was into it is the BASS player Justin Chancellor ( The best ) , the Guitarist (Long Hair) is Adam jones , and Maynard James Keenan always stays in the shadows , danny is the octopus , in the end best band of all times

Nice job men, welcome to what us tool fans call a lifestyle. Maynard has issues with being upfront and he also doesnt want to hog the spotlight. He is actually a great bandmate as he wants the band to get the credit they deserve as they do the music. He learned from the early days that the band wasn't just him and as all great men do he understood it was called a band for a reason and he took a step back. I respect the hell out of him for that....

They were the last concert I saw before the world got changed! Right when I was leaving the show in Portland, OR everyone got word that we were going into quarantine. I was so lucky to have seen them live! I usually am not a concert goer, but I couldn't pass up Tool!

It's 2020 and Rappers know the Tool members by name. I guess some things ARE BETTER than they used to be!
I was lucky enough to see them in St. Louis before the new album dropped. Kinda like a "pre warm up" show for Fear Inoculum drop. This song was played, but it was in the middle of the show along with Invincible. I personally love when bands play shows without promoting albums... That way you get a Little of everything. This song was absolutely jaw dropping in concert, first music in 13 years. The light show and effects are always superb with Tool's shows as well. Y'all are amazing reactors, love to hear others love Maynard's voice as well. He's by far my favorite male vocalist.
They're extremely talented musicians like a lot of bands but what makes them great and stand the test of time is the passion and emotion they put into it. It bleeds through in the music and The listener can tell
Im only 15 and I was lucky enough to go to a tool concert on january 31st this year and it was my first concert ever and I have sworn to myself that I will go see tool again. It was an amazing experience I loved every moment of it. Maybe react to the patient next

Seen these guys live in November before covid hit. Been to alot of shows these guys were the best I've ever seen. This band is so emotional and magical. My father passes away this may and if it wasn't for tool I swear I wouldn't be here right now. Invincible will always bring tear to my eye. It reminds me so much of my dad its not even funny

I was at the first show of tools tour where we were the first to hear descending & Invincible off of Fear inoculum. I was about 20 foot from the stage with a little over 100k people

The first time I heard this song it was so good I just cried
there were a few really fast glimpses of maynard. side of the stage, center, behind danny, stuff like that. he had a mohawk for this tour. he did one show years ago where he stood behind a white sheet the entire time. he’s just weirdly awesome like that 🤷🏼♀️
Don't expect Maynard to be coming to the front of the stage anytime soon. He pretty much stopped doing that in the mid 2000s. But he is there. He's the guy with the spiked hair in the shadows near Danny's set. You pointed him out in the Pneuma reaction as that "Random walking guy".

Tools concerts are better than they've ever been these days. Ive been too two in the last year and a half and they are a unique experience. The video you watch was footage from multiple shows, but the audio in the video came from the Birmingham AL show on 5/7/2019, one of the shows I attended. It was also the 2nd time ever that they played descending live. It's a great recording but hearing it live is a whole new experience you can't understand until you see it for yourself.

Descending is generally the second last song of the main set, followed by 46 & 2, on the FI tour. The setlist, and encores, on this tour is a Tool fan’s wet dream. They have started swapping Descending with 7empest. As much as I freaken love 7empest, Descending is one of my most very favourite songs of all time. You need to immerse yourself in the studio version, instead of live boots from phones. The Danny Carey Invincible drum cam is the closest we’ve got to an official Tool live video. Love your vibe and enthusiasm, new sub here. 👍🏻

While Maynard hangs back in the shadows he's still a focal point in the performance. He's so hypnotic and mysterious, which is the vibe they go for. It's epic and he's one of the best if not the best front man I've ever seen.
Danny Carey was born in Lawrence KS, which is why he wears the Jay Hawks Jersey, dunno about the rest, probably gifted to him. Good reaction guys, keep killing it.
I was at the Vegas show in January and it was genuinely the best show I've been to; even better then previous TOOL shows I've been to. The Fear Inoculum album is their magnum opus, and this song is a masterpiece. Don't leave this earth without getting to a show.

Basically, they work like this...there isn't a "lead singer" or a "lead guitarist". All four of them are equal parts of a whole. They are all instruments with an equal job to do...provide eargasms to the masses! Maynard isn't a "me-type" guy. He is usually on one of the two risers next to the drum kit, in the dark so that the focus isn't solely on him. Pretty rare for men of their calibre to keep their ego's in check like that.
