Thanks for this. Lots of techniques to drill with. Interesting to see parallels with the hanbo.

Love your videos Matt - keep them up. I don't need a walking cane myself, but I'm going to buy one and practise these techniques over the next 30 or so years so when I do need one, I'm fully adept with it!

When you need one you can't make use of these techniques.

@@vksasdgaming9472 Of course you can. A walking cane is an aid to *help* you walk, not a *requirement* to walk. And in any case, most of Matt's techniques are completed from a standing position and are about striking out, so not done while walking.

@@barryglibb1448 I will clarify my position saying that having difficulties in mobility most likely also means difficulties in standing and maintaining balance. Fighting is harder when mobility is hampered and most of these techniques do not seem to take it into account. They are still very effective in their context.

@@vksasdgaming9472 Totally agree - but this is why you continually practice something; your skill adapts over time and will change to your situation. Sure, if you have hands clamped up with arthritis, your strike is not going to be as strong as someone who hasn't got that issue, but if you practise over the years while your condition worsens, you'll be better able to know what your limits are and just utilise what works best for you.

Matt, were you speaking Japanese and later dubbed over it in English? I was waiting for Godzilla to come busting in at some point and you blasting away at his toes with that cane 😄 jk….. great instruction as always 😊
