Hi Matt. I found you when I had lost my ability to walk. I started your cane self defense while in a chair. Today I am almost fully recovered. Thank you for motivating me and getting me off my bottom. Plom disease is a killer.

I came upon this channel around 2020. One of your videos on how to spin the bo staff is where it all started for me because I realized great skill is reachable when you have a solid foundation in the basics. Spinning and striking with sticks/staffs, all the way up to a pool brush poll, has become the norm for me. XD I exercise everyday now and experience countless benefits from doing so.
    Thank you Matt!

Wow. I did not realize UK had fallen so deep into the politically correct garbage that is wrecking the West. Something has to correct it before we all go down the woke drain. Keep training though, it has to get better eventually.

I'm interested in techniques using an umbrella, but when I search your channel it doesn't look like you've ever covered umbrellas specially. Would you say the techniques are identical, or are there any differences? Would it be better to carry an umbrella with a hook handle like the cane you show here, or is a straight handle better? Thanks.

Some differences. I just don’t have an umbrella! I looked at some this week to buy though. I want to use a self defense umbrella and a golf umbrella. I’ll make one soon. What umbrella do you have?

Thanks for taking the time to respond - a lot of RUclipsrs won't. I appreciate it. At the moment I just have a generic long umbrella with a straight handle, but I realised that I carry it a lot for rain (in the UK), and so for me it would be an ideal defense option. I'm looking at upgrading it to the Unbreakable Umbrella, which is designed especially for self defense and is very durable. They have three different models though: compact telescopic, long with straight handle, and long with a hook handle. I'm trying to figure out which would be the best one to carry in case it's needed in a defense situation, and then I can get it and start training with it. Thanks.
