      Yep. If any actress had perfect symmetry in her face, it was her. Nobody really does, but Donna comes closest. She was a very stunning woman.

      @@ValleyoftheRogue I'd say Audrey Hepburn, Dorothy Dandridge, Greta Garbo, Grace Kelly, Jeannie Crain, Jean Seberg, Hedy Lamaar, Halle Berry all had/have perfect symmetry in the fame, and there was much more than those stunners. Donna Reed had that face too. For me when it comes to beauty, beauty can reach 100% perfection and the Golden Age of Hollywood was built off it by their most treasured Goddesses.

    Really wonderful to see a season six episode of this series. For some unknown reason the estate of Donna Reed has withheld all but two of season six, all of season seven and a couple of season eight episodes from the public. All episodes from seasons 6, 7 and 8 have been withheld from DVD release. Wish I knew why, because it's such a great show. It's also a fact that the series achieved its highest ratings during season six.
    Thank you so much for posting this!

      The only piece that fits is Bob Crane was in seasons 6 and 7

    • @jaredjlinden
      @jaredjlinden 3 года назад +16

      Donna Reed’s estate only controls seasons 1-5. Her original contract, covering the first five seasons of the show, stated that control of those episodes would revert to her after a certain number of years. When she renewed her contract for seasons 6-8, that provision was no longer in the contract, so seasons 6-8 are controlled by Sony, the successor to Screen Gems. It’s a pretty unusual situation. But if you check out the copyright notice under the show’s title, the first five seasons are copyrighted by “Todon of California” (Reed’s production company with her husband tony Owens), and the remaining seasons are copyrighted by Screen Gems.
      When Columbia (Screen Gems) still controlled the entire series, they syndicated seasons 1, 2, 3, 5, and 8. I heard that when they cut down the syndication package to an acceptable number of episodes for local stations, they removed the Bob Crane episodes because they just didn’t like him. But I don’t know how much stock you can put into that. After Reed’s estate regained control, they leased seasons 1-5 to MeTV and then to Decades (Decades currently also leases season 8 from Sony). I assume these days, if they aired seasons 6-7, they’d owe residuals to the actors since those episodes have rarely been rerun, and Sony just doesn’t want to bother with it.

    • @johnlargan6045
      @johnlargan6045 3 года назад +12

      @@jaredjlinden Thank you so much for that information. I guess the only way Screen Gems might bother releasing those seasons would be if there were enough public demand for it. I wish there were, as I love the cast and the show and have never seen those episodes. Still, I'm hoping that one day it happens. 🤞

    • @johnlargan6045
      @johnlargan6045 3 года назад +7

      @Eleanor Florist That certainly is an interesting theory, but Bob Crane also appeared in season 5 of Donna's show, so why allow those to be released? Also, Hogan's Heroes is a huge success in syndication to this day, which I think may be counter to your theory. If you look in the comments, someone explained that Reed's family only owned the first five seasons. When it came time to renegotiate the contracts after deciding to continue for a sixth season and beyond, that ownership clause wasn't put in for some reason. Apparently, Sony/Screen Gems retains the rights to the last three seasons and they don't seem to be in any hurry to release these later seasons, if at all.
      I'm guessing perhaps they would if there was a demand for them. I know I'd love to see them.

    I LOVE the Donna Reed Show. It is hands down my favorite of the classic family shows because it was different. Donna and Alex were not as conservative minded when it came to parenting their children, yet they were awesome parents. They weren’t overly strict, yet weren’t too permissive either. I like that Donna had a career prior to marrying Alex and chose to be a stay-at-home mom when they married. But Alex wasn’t the type to actually force her hand either. You get the feeling that he would not have cared if she worked. I remember in the later years, Donna spent more time outside of the home since the kids were older anyway. The show seemed to have a good balance of stories between the characters also.

    I used to watch The Donna Reed Show in 1990s reruns on Nik-at-Nite. It was an OK sitcom from its era. One or two of the early episodes had Harvey Korman as the family's doctor, years before he became a regular on The Danny Kaye Show. Of course Shelley Fabares was the main draw, and this was worth a second viewing just to see her come back as a guest star. Too bad Paul Peterson's little sister Patty became a regular. But I guess they figured since Jeff was in high school by this time, the producers felt a need to add another little kid.

      I'm guessing that the only way to get Sony to release these seasons on DVD would be if enough of us wrote or emailed to them requesting it. Perhaps they'd do it, even with made-on-demand DVD-R discs, if they received a lot of requests.

    The one who should really be upset is poor Trisha. Mary wanted nothing to do with her and she made this obvious. When Mary arrived Trisha was standing right in front of her and Mary snubbed her, she only greeted her after speaking to everyone else and only did this to save face in front of her mom & dad. That was the last word she said to her. Then when it came time to invite her family to the party there was no mention of Trisha, not even any mention of finding a babysitter. I am wondering if Mary was secretly resentful that her parents adopted Trisha, regardless she behaved very poorly.

    so true .. my bothers & sister did the same ..then when my lids grew up they too did the same . Wish the show used adopt needy children , Please if you want to Have & raise & and love children ..please adopt them from the 10`s of thousands poor children with no families ..Thousand children die each day from over population . So use birth control and adopt...70 % of planets species of plants and animals are gone from crowding out of humans

    Compare the disrespectful brats on shows like roseanne and married with children, this is what current young people think are funny.The fathers are portrayed as idiots and the grandparents as old irrelevant people.This sadly mirrors today!! Families are not the center of kids lives their friends and cell phones are!!
