AN EXCELLENT REVIEW Jared! I am a HUGE FAN of the MOTU 1987 Movie! I was SO EXCITED for this figure, and now he is a MUST HAVE especially because his head sculpt is SO MUCH Closer to Frank Langella! I can't wait! Thank you SO MUCH for the amazing review! -Geek Proud!
Mr. Frank's performance as skeletor scared me silly as a kid and I just can't take any other skeletor seriously since watching him. Activate the holosphere!!
The figure looks pretty incredible, though a little light on accessories for a deluxe figure (that huge box looks VERY empty!) , I feel like they could have at least also included an alternate unhooded head like in the end credits scene of the movie.
Foremost I'm happy this review is coming from a fan of the movie, and not someone that would mock the pants off a staple from my childhood. But the real prize here is this figure. I never got him off Amazon, so for now I have my preorder with BBTS. Even though I'm sure he'll be sitting on the shelf at Target in four months. I can't wait. This immediately becomes my movie Skeletor. The color is brilliant and accurate. He pops is all ways.
@@rayvenkman2087 I really, really hope that you are right. I want Mattel to do more movies figures. I pray for Skeletor Troops, MAA, Teela, and the Sorceress.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who rolled their eyes when these were officially solicited, but after seeing your review... Well, you can throw me in with the other peeps who just pre-ordered from BBTS. 😅
YES!!! YES!!! WOOOOO!!! Sorry, my mid-80's childhood just came unhinged from reality for a moment. I want every single figure they're willing to make in this line. 🤯
"Everything comes to he who waits..And I have waited so very long for this moment" Great figure, love the head sculpt, really like the classics version but this feels closer to the movie with that excellent head
Awesome review! Been looking forward to this figure, but doesn't seem much of a deluxe set. Regardless, I placed a preorder on BBTS anyway cuz I'm a sucker for MOTU.
Wow, congratulations on being the very first reviewer of this amazing guy. I'm surprised this is not a 60 dls figure with all the detail and paint apps. Amazing! Great review and hope your channel grows the way it should.
Great review. Well informed and easy to listen to, I was also excited about the decision to closely follow the colorway of the costume over how it “appears” in the film! So glad this popped up on my feed
Well, who’d have thought this head-sculpt would have been better than the S7 version?! Bit of a shame about the colour choices though, but interesting info about why Mattel made this choice. I wonder if they’ll do an ‘on-screen’ re-deco? Perhaps this’ll be my first ever Masterverse fig…
Great review... I still have my S7 1987 movie sealed (Because they're a little over the top and don't mix well with the rest of that line), and now, I don't have to open them up if the MV versions will be easily available.
I see allot more resemblance from the masterverse version as well. And I have the classics skeletor as well. Unfortunately he was the only classic I had gotten. But I will not miss out on this and the heman
Hooray..burgundy and purple pink works better on the figure..shame on the movie makers for the blackening of his costume. Definitely one to grab..now bring on Teela..Duncan & the rest.👍🏽👍🏿👍🏾
Awesome review man. I just watched the movie about 2 weeks ago (the last time was on VHS when it came out 😂) and I really enjoyed the nostalgia and cheesiness of it. Of course it took liberties with the source material, but hey, it was the 80’s. Dolph Lungren gave us He-Man and The Punisher before these sci fi film took off in the 2000’s and for that I appreciated anything we got back in those days. A healthy imagination fills in the gaps. 🤓 Can’t wait to see the rest of the reviews!👍🏽
i like to think the movie takes place after the tv show and the war in eturnia went in to full swing and the other matsers and orco are helping she-ra fight hordak and the snake men leaving skeletor left to his own devices fighting he-man and tela and man at arms and his robot army was way to much for the eternian soldiers to handle and was able to capture the king and queen and take over castle gray skull to after years of fighting.
Holy Hannah! Good job on getting this guy. I'm really looking forward to picking him up. That boxart is spectacular. The figure is great too. I like this one more than the Classics tbh. I dig how the paint puts the spotlight on how the armor resembles skeleton ribs. Now I need to go grab a VCR, hit up Blockbuster and watch the movie in it's 80's glory!
That thing is sweet...1st time I ever saw that movie was on Beta (80s baby). Definitely grabbing 2 of these. Big fan of the Masterverse. Great review dude
Not surprised that it wasn't made in the 80s. Some things may not be apparent by the way MOTU is regarded now, but there were a lot of cracks behind the scenes & a lot of scrambling as time went on. Movie figures would've been right in the middle of that. ... It was a little weird back then because some of the movie characters were Released, but at the same time it was just the characters(besides Earthlings) that only appeared in the movie so one could draw their own conclusions for the absence of movie variants. Also, Intentional Variants were generally reserved for He-Man & Skeletor(Hordak too, but that would have been justified by being a Lead P.O.P. Villain on MOTU Card back). I'd imagine Origins versions will be available. Assuming all figures from the 80s are due for Release combined with the success of the 87 Film He-Man and Skeletor Classics sculpts, the design team knows they're expected. It'll be interesting to see the approach though. Wonder if navigating Facial Likeness Rights & Line Aesthetics will result in a He-Man face sculpt more like Classics or if they will use the Lazer Power He-Man head to make it look like it probably would have looked if it came out in the 80s.
The movie when it was on tv It was always one of those I’d stop what I was doing and sit and watch it when I was younger… I’ll add right now it’s free on RUclips I think only until the end of December and I’ve already watched it twice on there…, I would always compare the first Thor movie to this movie… it’s got some similarities you could catch if you go back and watch it.. could almost say Thor was a remake with a new take if it wasn’t Thor and instead a new MOTU movie
I’m glad you said that about Thor. I thought about that connection for years as well! I remember swing the first Thor and instantly thinking of the structural similarities. I think the first way I ever saw the MOTU movie was on TBS in the early 90’s and it fascinated me!
I recently got this figure and am happy with it especially with the headsculpts and articulation, but I can’t help but feel underwhelmed with this version of the cosmic key. Little to no paint detail on it, when it comes to that the super7 Cosmic Key is the better looking one
I definitely prefer the Classics color scheme of the robes and armor. But the Masterverse color scheme for the ornamental sash and Havoc Staff. And Masterverse has the clearly superior face sculpt. I wish there was a way to mix and match and then make my own custom cloak.
Frank Langella took the role because his children were massive fans of the cartoon and the toys. He stole the show and considers it one of his favorite roles.
I remember seeing an interview with Langella where he said he just went to his son’s playroom and started asking him questions about his Skeletor figure. He took what his son said and based his performance on it. That’s just so cool to me.
I honestly love the movie. And Frank Langella is the best part. And the best Skeletor. I never got the Classics version. I can't wait to get this one. It is odd to me seeing the behind the scenes pictures, because yeah Skeletor's outfit is surprisingly very much a dark maroon, burgundy and eggplant. But in the movie, it looks black.
The new face sculpt is so much better. Probably because the Classics version is based on the concept art - not on the movie! That's why he doesn't look like Frank Langella.
It's well executed. I have mixed feelings on the Masterverse line and I was not big on the 87 movie. However I can look at that toy In or Out of context say it is a solid figure either way. The Masterverse Movie He-Man, not so much. It looks horrible.
In my opinion the 1987 movie action figures of HE-MAN portrayed by Dolfe & Skeletor portrayed by Frank Langela is so much better than the classicism versions! Jim Greszczuk ❤️
I can deal with the colors but that hood makes it look like he has a pageboy haircut and that is unacceptable, unsure how they could not get that right, it looks awful
The 1987 film is awful. When I saw it in the cinema I was disappointed. But then I took the DVD......I have to say that Frank Langella made an interesting interpretation of the villain. Now looking at your action figures I really appreciate these unreleased villains from the Masters of the Universe series. In the film they disappointed me, but seeing them now as action figures I find them beautiful.
Be careful doing early reviews of Mattel products even if you did pay for the item with your own money. We saw towards the end of last year and begining of this year what Mattel does to people reviewing items out of their time line.
Although had to slow down on lines to collect, this and movie he man are a must
A Movie Beast Man figure would definitely be a treat
We need a movie version of Evil-Lyn
Looks like a pretty great rendition of skeletor. The face is perfect. Masterverse head on the classics body would be the best.

I think we’ll be lucky if he’s still even on the shelf for a month.
@@rayvenkman2087 I really, really hope that you are right. I want Mattel to do more movies figures. I pray for Skeletor Troops, MAA, Teela, and the Sorceress.
God, I hope we also get a Gwildor. But I may be biased lol. Skeletor looks fantastic!
This skeletor was a staple in my childhood, the actor who played skeletor here did such a good job playing the character. This figure looks fantastic
I'm sure I'm not the only one who rolled their eyes when these were officially solicited, but after seeing your review... Well, you can throw me in with the other peeps who just pre-ordered from BBTS. 😅

Great figure, love the head sculpt, really like the classics version but this feels closer to the movie with that excellent head
Oh man, I love the way this figure turned out. I love the masterverse line, and it’s only getting better with time.
Awesome review! Been looking forward to this figure, but doesn't seem much of a deluxe set. Regardless, I placed a preorder on BBTS anyway cuz I'm a sucker for MOTU.
I cancelled my preorders for both MOTU Movie figures, and this review has me reconsidering. It looks significantly better than the press images..
Great review! Appreciate the attention to all the details. Love the look of this figure.
Wow, congratulations on being the very first reviewer of this amazing guy. I'm surprised this is not a 60 dls figure with all the detail and paint apps. Amazing! Great review and hope your channel grows the way it should.
Just seeing him in box is jaw dropping! Now lets get the gold version when he powered up too!!!!!
The Masterverse one is amazing! Really good review. The figure is less muscly which is accurate to Frank Langella.
I'm surprised they didn't include a second head without the hood (like we see him at the end of the film when he pops out of the water).
This Masterverse figure looks amazing. Can’t wait to get him. Think he will be considerably better than the movie He Msn that’s due
Great review. Well informed and easy to listen to, I was also excited about the decision to closely follow the colorway of the costume over how it “appears” in the film! So glad this popped up on my feed
This is my first time watching one of your reviews. Amazing work!! Keep it up. God bless!
I don't collect MV, but I need this. I missed the Classics one. This one looks out of this world.
Movie Skeletor was so bad ass, he went God Mode before it was a thing 🤣
Lol yes!
I hope we get the God version.
⚔"All Hail The Lord Of Destruction!"⚔
Great review! Nice quotes and awesome touch throwing in the reference photos from the original costume. 👍👍
Great review...
I still have my S7 1987 movie sealed (Because they're a little over the top and don't mix well with the rest of that line), and now, I don't have to open them up if the MV versions will be easily available.
The Movie Head of the Masterverse Figure is Amazing!!
I see allot more resemblance from the masterverse version as well. And I have the classics skeletor as well. Unfortunately he was the only classic I had gotten. But I will not miss out on this and the heman

I’ve always wanted these designs as action figures
Not surprised that it wasn't made in the 80s. Some things may not be apparent by the way MOTU is regarded now, but there were a lot of cracks behind the scenes & a lot of scrambling as time went on. Great review luv the figure hope to get one down the road 👍
Terrific video, man. Answered all the questions I was curious about. Hugest of thnx. 🙌
Mattel got the headsculpt right - too bad they didnt with the He-man (Dolph) great review
Great content, you were very thorough and we appreciate it!
I love the movie and also own all Classics. Great job. He is awesome. Wow
BBTS charged me last week, so it should be mailed to be the week before NYE. Can’t wait
Mattel advertises an alternate head being included with this one... seems they forgot to include it.

Picking and choosing on Mastervers or waiting for sale prices (especially on deluxe just got She Ra for $15) I will def be Picking this one up.
I recently got this figure and am happy with it especially with the headsculpts and articulation, but I can’t help but feel underwhelmed with this version of the cosmic key. Little to no paint detail on it, when it comes to that the super7 Cosmic Key is the better looking one
Yeah I agree

Wow this looks awesome - mine is on the way from BBTS - I hope we get the gold costume
i cant wait to get this. ordered via big bad toy store
Thanks for the informative review.
Masterverse Gwildor better come with a bucket of chicken.
Fantastic figure.
The Most perfect and accurate Character to the cartoon was Evil-Lyn. They don't have the figure for this collection??????
Not yet but I’ll be first in line to buy it if they ever do! Her movie look is awesome.
The Super7 ones were based on the William Stout concept art for the film and not how the actors looked in the actual film.
The new face sculpt is so much better. Probably because the Classics version is based on the concept art - not on the movie! That's why he doesn't look like Frank Langella.
I wan them to make a Detective Lubic figure so badly
Yes me too! Lubic Forever!
A long time for this, I love it
This actually looks really good. Off topic, but what is that staircase in the background?
It's well executed. I have mixed feelings on the Masterverse line and I was not big on the 87 movie. However I can look at that toy In or Out of context say it is a solid figure either way. The Masterverse Movie He-Man, not so much. It looks horrible.
Excellent review job 👏 👍
In my opinion the 1987 movie action figures of HE-MAN portrayed by Dolfe & Skeletor portrayed by Frank Langela is so much better than the classicism versions! Jim Greszczuk ❤️
They should make these for origins
I think we’ll definitely see that in the next couple of years. There’s basically no reason not to.
Omg!! I love the film and must have this!!!!
I just got King Grayskull, and he was worth every penny. You bet your tuchus I want this version of Skeletor.
Holy shiiiitt you have him
I must have it....
I can deal with the colors but that hood makes it look like he has a pageboy haircut and that is unacceptable, unsure how they could not get that right, it looks awful
I think The emblem on the belt was a nod to hordeck. And if the movie did well he would have bin in the next one.
🤯🤯🤯 NEED!
Skeletor was the best & only thing about that movie.
Fun thx!
Too much box, not enough accessories. Great figure though.
Maybe swap heads with the classics version?
The 1987 film is awful.
When I saw it in the cinema I was disappointed.
But then I took the DVD......I have to say that Frank Langella made an interesting interpretation of the villain.
Now looking at your action figures I really appreciate these unreleased villains from the Masters of the Universe series. In the film they disappointed me, but seeing them now as action figures I find them beautiful.
why is it pink not black?
Does that masterverse head fit the classics body
I’m not sure, the super 7 classics figures feel more fragile when switching their heads to me, so I don’t really switch them out to be safe.
Be careful doing early reviews of Mattel products even if you did pay for the item with your own money. We saw towards the end of last year and begining of this year what Mattel does to people reviewing items out of their time line.
He-Man looks like Alexander the Great at 23:50!!!
Frank Langela!
Wo gibt es die?
Too bad He-Man looks nothing like Dolph Lundgren. Nothing like him😒
I’m really hoping that in hand it looks better but it sure isn’t close in the pics!
The film is iconically crap
Maaximooo like very very good piece. Greetings and Merry Christmas
Was the Skeletor on the right done by Super 7 or Four Horsemen? I have the one by S7. I'm confused.
The 4 Horsemen worked with Super 7 to do additional classics figures after mattel quit which includes those movie figures, so the answer is both.
He-man looks like Mick Jagger...... ;) 2:07
