    Good one, G! You know what?
    I went to Cairo several times before and never tried Felfela,😅 a friend has told me they had a branch or two in Hurghada, but they were temporary closed at that time when I was there and possibly they will re-open soon, so I was curious to try their food.
    Have you tried any Koshary restaurants yet? And what's your favourite one?
    And hey btw! I have really enjoyed your last vlog night walk in Dahab so much!! I've even watched it twice as I liked your style in recording and vloging there. Stay awesome, Gisselle! Much love and peace! ✌💜

    • @Gventures
      @Gventures  2 года назад

      Ahaha yes, you're so awesome! I'm glad you enjoying the night walk in Dahab, man I almost didn't upload it I wasn't feeling it was all that great! But I guess I am hearing it's enjoyable from a few people so really glad to hear you liked it! I guess I don't really now what's entertaining or not, I felt like Dahab was pretty quiet and wouldn't be that interesting to watch, but turns out I'm wrong🤣It was fun for me to be there but watching I was afraid would be a bit dry. Anyways, thank you!!!
      I have had Koshery, but I have to be honest, not that much. It's too heavy for me, I can't even finish a small sized Koshery😂 It is really good though, and I've been meaning to make a video about it for MONTHS now. It's a really good winter food, and I love it with the chili oil they have on tables at the restaurants, but it's so hot here in Cairo right now (40C/104F) and I haven't been craving heavy food like pasta. But I mean I REALLY have been wanting to make that video, I have to do it soon. I plan to go to a place called Abu Tarek here in Cairo when I film it, because it's mentioned a lot by Egyptians as the best place for koshery (although there is always debate on where the best spot is, of course).

      The experiment proved that when we least expect it and underestimate whatever we do, it turns out to be amazing and pass our expectation.😀
      So, we never know, but there is always something special that will attract others and make them enjoy and love what they see. The fact is while you were recording in a quiet ambience it allowed the one to enjoy watching every spot of the place without many distractions, plus, your character and your way of presenting the places, people, and situations were really cool.😎👍
      And you're absolutely right! The weather currently in Egypt doesn't help to have a meal like koshary, it's like commiting a suicide, 😁although I just had my last koshary 2 days ago 😂😆, I was craving it tbh as it's been so long time haven't had any Koshary since I was on zero carb diet, I tried to discard the chilli sauce to not make things worse, lol!😅
      Of course, whenever the time is right for you, you can try and record your own experience with Koshary restaurants there and which is your fave. Yes, many people have recommended Abu Tarek, I guess the only branch in Cairo that at Maarouf street across Champlion street in city centre, the other ones are outside Cairo. There is also El Tahrir Koshary, it has a lot of branches there, and even opened 2 branches here in Mansoura recently, I've tried it, and it was good!

      @@user-rt3wx5lv6d Shukran☺ Ah yes El Tahrir Koshary I have been to, they are good. I think it's probably kind of hard to mess up Koshary though, I haven't had any bad Koshary yet, anyway😄I really enjoy Mahshi, I've basically only had it from friend's who's mothers prepared it, and it seems it's best when made by someone's mother so I don't know how I'm going to make a video about that. Any recommendations about where to get mahshi at a restaurant so I can film? 😅

      Indeed, nothing beat homemade cooking food 😌👌 especially traditional food like the rolls/dulma (mahshi), stuffed pigeons, molokhia.. There is Abu Shakra restaurant, it serve such oriental dishes, and it has lots of branches, it depends which one will be closer to you, there is in El Mohandseen, Heliopolis, Downtown, Maadi, Nasr City. It opens from 12 pm to 1 am.
      I haven't tried it, tbh, but it's one of famous reaturants there, just like Abu Tarek for Koshary.😅

    I love your videos but especially food videos LOL 😋. My first experience with Felfela was when I was a child living in another country and longing for any Egyptian food, and my dad found a branch of Felfela and bought us falafel and I still remember the delicious taste till now..😊. The teen at 2:40 is saying something close to "wish I was rich like you" when he leaned you were American. I don't know..I didn't like that. People should be discreet in their comments, but again, boys will always be boys.
    P.S. Did you know that you can order raw (green) falafel paste and fry it at home? Probably not from Felfela but from smaller local vendors. Bon appetit !!

    • @Gventures
      @Gventures  2 года назад +3

      Wow, that is a unique memory, I love that story! Some things just stick with you, and Egyptian food is a worthy of remembering. 😁
      Lol did the kid say that? Damn, that's fucked up. Well I'm certainly far from rich but I guess due to my nationality "I'm rich" by default, and as long as I have US dollars the currency exchange rate definitely works in my favor. I mean I can always return home and make way better wages than most people here so he's not exactly wrong in that sense.
      I did know I could buy the paste and make it at home myself! Egyptian food is just so easy, cheap and delicious to buy from the vendors I don't find myself trying to cook it at home often. If I'm cooking at home it's probably foreign foods that are a bit harder to find, more expensive or just not as good here. But I should learn to cook some dishes while I'm here, huh? I'll regret it if I don't

    • @HuNorbi

      @@GventuresFrom the point of view of the kid yes, everybody who speaks english and not local are seems to an american / australian or english which equals to them " rich people " I'm from Hungary and I also far from the rich category in our ( european or american ways ), but everytime when I'm travelling to Egyipt / Morocco or Jordan and I'm speaking in english they always think that I'm a rich american.

    • @Gventures

      @@HuNorbi Yes I am very familiar with the mentality, I live in Egypt and have also traveled all over the world, when people learn where I am from I almost see dollar signs light up in their eyes (if they are trying to sell me something). India comes to mind 😆And I get it, I don't even blame them. That kid has likely never traveled to the US. He doesn't understand what I make in the US does not go very far at all. Of course, the USD does go much further in Egypt than it does in the US, so I am rich, by Egyptian standards. And many places around the world where the currency is not as strong. And many people see a foreigner and just assume we are all rich. I guess, we are privileged enough to travel, which is more than what many people around the world are able to. Anyway, I'm not complaining, and I'm pretty used to little comments like the one the kid made. C'est la vie.

    Hello Giselle, this question is not related to the food, but I was thinking in something. By the Nile River, there are two Bridges that connect Tahrir Square with Zamalek, right? there is a place where I remember there are many boats in order to take a ride through the Nile ( at night is beautiful for the lights and music). Do you know how much cost that ride? I am asking you because even I have Egyptian friends I know the cost for them is less but as tourist I would like to know to have a better idea. I think this year I want to do that. Many thanks in advance.

    • @Gventures
      @Gventures  2 года назад +1

      Yes, I do know the two bridges you are talking about, they are 6th of October Bridge and the other one is Qasr El Nile Bridge, and yes they both pass through Zamalek over to Giza from Cairo. I don't actually know how much those boat rides cost, I've never asked. I think it would depend a lot on the amount of people going, private or group tours, daytime or night, who knows what else. I've only been on Felucca rides from Zamalek, organized by friends or hostels. And those also varied in price, though it was always less than 100 EGP. That is because there were always 20 or more people on the boat, so the more people the less the cost. I've also paid 60 EGP for a ride, there weren't any people that time but it was almost all Egyptians, so I think they got a better price and by default so did I. I'm sure you would be paying a lot more though if you took the touristic boats that offer rides all the time. Maybe I can go down there and ask about it sometime

      I appreciate your advice but the main reason I make videos is not to get views, it's not the reason I started the channel in the first place. I am happy when I do of course, but for me filming and editing videos is a creative process that I started learning about 2 years ago and I'm just enjoying what I do and showing people what I enjoy, I don't need to be the best. Also 100% don't need a local team for protection I have been completely fine on my own the last 8 months I've been here (also wouldn't be able to afford a team and would make interactions awkward, in my opinion), my Egyptian friends and bf help me translate so I don't think I need help there either.
      I'm sorry you feel like my videos are long but hold little content, but I have had quite a few people on my channel ask for them to be longer, so I guess it just comes down to personal preferences. @@Gventures first off I appreciate your reply.secondly regarding your protection I meant general idea to make it easier for you to shoot your videos without any issues in the restaurants cause I’ve noticed that in many places they don’t allow videos, secondly your team might be friends, you don’t have to pay them, third I coincidentally found your videos and the reason I’m trying to find ways for you to improve is that I’m Egyptian but I live in Illinois and I loved the topic that you’re making which is Egyptian food and I believe you can by far do better..good luck😊😊

      @@raedmorad7740 I understand what you're saying but I think it's easier to get away with filming in Egypt in general and specifically restaurants and small shops if it's just me and not a team, as that draws more attention. I asked the cashier at Felfela beforehand if it was alright if I filmed and he gave me the green light so, it was just the other random guy that worked there that tried to make a problem. Honestly most people have problems filming many places in Egypt, as you might have noticed with other people's channels. Thankfully I am a people person, very kind and respectful and usually people don't mind and I almost never have problems filming here😊
      I don't film with a team (friends or not) but thankfully they do help me with suggestions of best restaurants for certain dishes and translations when it comes to the editing process (I understand some Arabic but not enough for full translations in some of the videos).
      I'm glad you stumbled upon my videos and happy to hear you like the topic, I guess I'm just not sure how to take it when you say I could do far better. 2 years ago I didn't even have a laptop, let alone know how to edit anything. I've never gone to school for this sort of thing and have little experience in filming, editing, or anything of the sort. I'm not tech savvy at all. I've trained myself to edit (finding a cheap editing program, learning the ropes on that. Finding copyright free music, layering, subtitles, everything from start to finish in making a video), learned about RUclips a bit regarding algorithms, uploading, rules, etc., learned how to make thumbnails, how to film (lighting, not moving too quickly, speaking clearly into the mic) the list goes on and on. So considering where I started 2 years ago I think I've come a long way, I have a lot more to learn and I think it's a constant learning process, just like life in general, but one has to start somewhere, so I did. Wa7da wa7da, sa7? I appreciate your input and always strive to do better, unfortunately it doesn't happen overnight but I'm making progress. I've noted your comments and will consider them for future videos. I debate with myself many times on how long my videos are, what is necessary, what is not, etc. Still learning, as I've said. Take care!☺☺

      @@raedmorad7740 Oh I definitely have time, as I'm living in Cairo right now! 😁I will be living here for a good while and traveling to different parts of the country as well as other countries in the general area. I actually have been to Alexandria, I went there when I first arrived to Egypt back in October! Very beautiful city, ba7eb Eskendreya. I plan to return at some point while I'm living here, just not sure when, there are so many places I haven't seen still! But Alexandria has very good food, I made a seafood video there (fish market and also at a restaurant).

    You are in a Muslim country.
    Your clothes get a lot of people offended.

      I'm in a Muslim country? Wow I didn't know that! 🤣
      Actually I get a lot of compliments from Egyptian women on my style 😊
      If you think I dress offensively, you should see some of the tourists that come here wearing booty shorts and tiny nightclub dresses 😳
      I've been living in Egypt 2 years now, and I can confidently say my clothing is not offensive.
