This type of bread is called Aish Shamsi. It is popular in southern Egypt. It is not found in northern Egypt. It is preferable to eat it with Molokhia. and vegetables was zucchini. Your videos are as sweet as you are.
great video Gisselle , I stayed in Elephantine Island in July 2022 and I documented my travels and made videos aswel , this brings back great memories .
Hey Gisselle, so weird watching your videos while I'm here! Cairo is overwhelming, I'm enjoying it sooo much, even more than I expected😍 Unfortunately I can't contact you via Facebook without having an account but nevermind, maybe I'll see you around :) Much love from.....Egypt ❤😂
Dang!!! I'm so sorry, I just really don't want to put any of my personal information in comments and make it public. It only takes one time. Where are you staying? Maybe I could pop over
When I stayed at the Old Cataract, I always wondered what was on Elephantine Island just across the Nile. Actually I thought it was just vegetation - so your video was particularly informative and enjoyable. I was amazed to see that it is populated. And that meal - I could have snatched it away! Ha ha! Great video as always - keep it up!🌏🌏🌏
Oh yeah, Elephantine Island has locals living there as well as guest houses for tourists. There are also restaurants, museums, quite a few things actually! Thanks Lesley!
😆Girl I never do that! I mean, a little above the eyelid if there is anything, but I never change their shape or do a lot. I am very lazy about my appearance in general, it's one of the reasons I like the red hair. I dye it every so often and then I feel satisfied it's enough so I never have to style it or anything. And the only makeup is waterproof eyeliner which lasts for a few days. So I paint it on after a shower and then don't remove it till my next shower which is usually 2 days later 🤣Roll outta bed and be ready to go 😎
Green, with fruits? Anywhere along the Nile, which is where most people live in Egypt. But I mean, it is a desert country, so you don't have to go very far from the Nile and it is just sand and desert. The south is the more agricultural part of Egypt. But again, it is a desert country...
Hope you enjoy (El esh elshamsy) or( the sun bread) this is cooked on the heat of the sun only, this is pharonic way the old egyptians used to eat it ,you can find it in the Egyptian museums 😆
Hi Raja! There are many types of visas, it depends on many things. There are tourist visas, work visas, student visas, etc. I came on a tourist visa and extended it several times. But it completely depends on not only your nationality, but maybe how the immigration officer is feeling like that day. Some people request an extension and only receive one month, while others are granted a year. It varies a lot.
I hope you have tried Soliah Nubian across from Agilika Island since you made this video :) to get your true Nubian food experience with complimentary Philae Temple views - Absolutely Love your content!
For what it was, I don't think it was very high. It could have been cheaper, but it was served with a lot of food, and most places with a view are typically more costly, anywhere in the world. Compared to what I usually eat, which is street food, of course it is a very expensive restaurant. But for a sit-down restaurant, with views of the Nile like this, it wasn't shocking.
Hmm, I don't really know how much time I had to wait, but I wasn't in a rush. If it did take 45 mins to be served, it definitely didn't feel like it! But I was relaxing, talking to the table next to me, recording video clips and taking in the view, so it may have been and the time just flew by.
Thanks! I am now a subscriber, I might as well since I saw most of your videos on Egypt. I will be there next month with my wife. I reserved a hotel on the island. Do you think the food choices and night life in Aswan city is better for us first timers we are a lively senior citizen couple? @@Gventures
@@cwj224 Honestly, I'm not ALL that familiar with Aswan nightlife, just because I haven't lived in Aswan, and I can't compare the island nightlife to the city because I was never on the island at night. I am sure there is more happening in the city than on the island, though. Be aware that while people do tend to stay up late in Egypt, there isn't a TON of things to do at night exactly, mainly just walking around people watching or sitting at a restaurant or cafe, and many of the places that stay open late are local. The big thing about everywhere I've been in Egypt (all cities, whether it's Cairo or Hurghada or Aswan or Luxor, etc.) is that things are pretty spread out and far apart, so it's not like you can just hit a busy "eat street" or something (unless it's the Marina in Hurghada maybe 😅) and you will be doing a lot of walking if you aren't taxiing around. Just a heads up 😁But Aswan is very beautiful and although I never ate at any of the restaurants on the shore of the mainland, I saw a few restaurants that seemed popular with visitors as well. The views of the Nile in Aswan are the BEST 🤩And thanks so much for subscribing! 🥰
And on another note...Para todo mal, mezcal, y para todo bien, también. Y si no hay remedio, litro y medio! 🤣 Yeah the food here was delicious. I talked to those ladies too! I think they actually told me they were from some island in the Caribbean. I thought they were from the US too. Or maybe they were Americans living in the Caribbean. I can't remember now 😅
Hello Gisselle, greetings!!! I have not seen your videos lately, but I will do as soon as I am free. Busy lately..... I have a question, I will go to Egypt this summer, so this time I will bring some electronic devices for gifts ( 3 in total), so my question is : In there any problem at the Cairo airport? with the security? usually I bring my 2 cell phones and my laptop, but no problem. So this time I am not sure what it happens? could you please advise? Many thanks in advance.
Hey Carlos! Awesome to hear you're returning this summer, when are you coming exactly? You should message me while you're here! About the gifts: They need to be your personal belongings to be accepted by the airport security, so remove whatever electronic devices you are planning to bring as gifts from their packaging/box and you will be fine. If they are still in their boxes, they will assume you are trying to sell them and will not allow you to enter with them. So best to just open the devices and throw away their packaging. If they ask you about them just make up a story about why you have an excessive number of something (I need 2 laptops for work, I have 3 cameras because I am a photographer, etc.)
No, it's an island so you'll need to take a boat to get to elephantine island, or any of the islands out there, for that matter. I took the ferry which was super cheap. If you are looking to do the same, here are two locations where you can catch the ferry for like 5 EGP (last time I was there it was in Feb 2023, it costed 5 EGP). the vegetable looks like Kousa (preannounced co-sah)? zucchini in English. Be carful when u say co-sah, tho... cause if it sounds like cow-sah or cou-sah it means something trouble, or bad time? hahaha
Nah, I've had camel at a restaurant in Giza which was a lot more local and authentic I think, than this place. Because I was so far south in Upper Egypt, I wanted to try the Nubian food. I ended up having more authentic Nubian food the next day at a Nubian engagement party I was invited to by a friend I made, but this food was good too. Especially the tahina! 😆
Beautiful video, as usual, may God protect you and grant you success
Wow ❤so cute kid 👦 and you are lovely ☺️
Thanks lady! Yeah that kid was adorable. So curious and friendly 😆🥰
It is called Zucchini... The buildings, graphics and decorations are wonderful in Nubia and the color coordination is amazing
It wasn't zucchini. I found out later it was okra. Yes you are right Nubian architecture and design is very bright and colorful 😊
😮strange shape for Okra … the shape for it is Zucchini … I don’t know the taste for it there … anyway if you like the food that’s fine

Thanks for the info
The vegetable tajine looks like courgettes (Egyptian zucchini) with potatoes and tomatoes - one of my favorites for Mahshi - delicious!
Vegetable looks like okra. Another great video thank you
Ahhh yes that is what it is, you are right! Thank you!
looks exactly the same, great video!!!
Thank you Summer!
Making me hungry as usual. Lol! I've learned more about Egypt from you in the past few months than I've learned in my entire life.
Haha, that's awesome. What a privilege it is for me to be able to do that

the mysterious vegetable is Zucchini
Not bamia?

I have to ask what eyeliner brand do you use? I find the waterproof ones I purchase always run.
Thanks for sharing. By the way. What part of Egypt is very green and have more fruits.

Hi Gventures, the vegetable with tomato sauce you had in King Jamaica Restaurant was "zucchini"!
Really?! I was starting to think it was okra, just because of the shape
@@Gventures actually it’s zucchini, me myself I miss all Egyptian food :)

Being you have been in Egypt a while did that restaurant bill seem typical to you are a bit high? Just curious.

Love the video! I will be in Aswan in November. How long was the wait for the food? I saw the menu and it said 45 minute wait to be served.
