Before I moved here I joined a lot of FB groups to get information. But you have to remember that you are reading the subjective view of the person posting, particularly in relation to that question 'What's the best place to live in CR?'' There are also people posting that left because things didn't work out here for them. I kept seeing the same names writing negative comments in multiple groups. I left them all and once here learned things first hand. Love my Pura Vida life 🌴🌺🥥
I agree, the Costa Rica Facebook groups can definitely be a highly toxic environment because of those kinds of people. I can only imagine that they have very sad lives.
Very well done. Balanced and true. I have 36 years on and off in Costa Rica. Im married to a Tica and have 2 children, 2 step children and a grand daughter. Costa Rica has charged tremendously in the last 30 years. Those moving there that think all will be amazing might need to do a bit more research. It can be very trying. Its defintely a huge culture shock for most. I personally love the country and will retire there. Most my family lives there. Thanks for sharing.
Hola Beyou , if you are thinking about the southern zone of Costa Rica and the Uvita area, go to my web site for information about that CostaRicaMove.com www.costaricamove.com
“What!?! 😱 It’s not all beaches🏖️, palm trees 🌴, and warm sunshine 🌞? 😮 Your absolutely right Ed. 👍 Many times have I seen the FB posts, the statement; “I just gotta get outa here” “Costa Rica is going to be so great. I’m going now” as they believe everything they want to hear. I talk to a lot of people, as you know, who come here to visit and live, and I’ve heard a lot of; “I didn’t know Costa Rica was this or that!” after they get here. Talk to the right people, watch the right videos (like yours), that aren’t telling you all positive things always, or negative things as well. Do your research, a lot of it!!! Visit!! 🤓📖💻 Another good video Ed! 👍
Having lived here for near 20 years, I found the greatest share of this video to be accurate. Fortunately, I came here when things were cheap, by US standards. Life is truly what you make it. I have found it to have been a pleasant journey with some caveats. I went from being a type A personality to laid back and don't worry or get stressed about much of anything. May you find your solace and it might be here in Costa Rica, as I have.
very good points all around....each area is quite different, the people the knowledge..crime etc...3 of my neighbors places were robbed between yesterday and today, they have some video- hope they catch these criminals..i am in the states, should be down hopefully next week...trespassers will not be going home...
thought about moving to Mexico but they are having such a HUGE problem with having enough clean drinking water...how is the water situation in Costa Rica? I also love playing disc golf
There is one guy on youtube with strong opinions about Costa Rica. One of his major "disappointments" was that he could not find the frozen smoothies he likes. This in a country where you can get all the fresh fruit you want. Go figure. Take these comments with a grain of salt. Unhappy people will always find a reason to be unhappy.
There are specific groups that I can rely on in social media- The rest is basically entertainment because they're predictable in their various contradictory comments.
My advice to anyone thinking about moving here is to leave all your stuff in the USA and come rent a place for a year. Then after a year you will know if it's the place for you or not. Seen many people sell everything and just move here blind, only to go back with their tails between their legs and their wallets empty. You better have some kind of steady income already, because you will not be making money here. We say here if you want to make a million dollars, you will have to spend $2 million. I live about 2 hours north of you, maybe one day I will see you in Uvita. I would like to check out the farmers market there sometime. Pura Vida.
Thanks!
Thank you so much Viking Kitten, 🙂👍🙏
Perfect analogy. ❤ I've been here a little over a year, and I keep my mind open to all areas and all cultures of Costa Rica.
🙂👍

I appreciate your honesty. It is helping my research on where to move.
Glad you are finding the videos helpful, it’s just my 2 cents in video form😅
Let's not forget those who only hear what they wanna hear.
Great video as usual.

Thanks Don, I guess some people really do have to learn the hard way!

Interesting hearing your perspective and thanks for sharing what you have learned

Knowing your neighbors and having neighborhoods where people know crime will not be tolerated are a good deterrent. 😉

This year there was an issue with electricity production due to hydro sources not having enough water.

Very true, some people can’t just go with the flow. They usually don’t last long here.
I miss Campbell's bean with bacon soup and also licorice but i am not leaving the country over it.

Some are just too toxic

Sound advice 🙂👍
Maybe this is a myth too but what about all the dangerous wildlife?
Not a myth that they are here, maybe a myth to think that danger lies around every corner.
