    Expat living in Curridibat here. Great interview, the Orosi valley is beautiful and one of my favorite places to ride bikes. He's dead on the cost of a home is much higher here in the central valley. If you enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables you'll spend substantially less for your meals than eating out too often.
    Pura Vida.

    We visited the Orosi Valley area several times on our many trips to Costa Rica, and found it BEAUTIFUL !
    It is much nicer than many of your "tourist destinations" - a truer example of CR than those overpriced zones.

    ROGER, this was a great interview. And how timely it was for me and my wife. We will be spending three days in the Orosi Valley next month. After listening to this interview, I am thinking I should have set aside a little more time there. Perhaps we will have to plan a second visit.

      @@CostaRicaLaw talk about coincidences. The host of the Airbnb my wife and I are staying at in Orosi is the magician John mentioned was at one of his parties. In fact, John was his doctor in Texas and the person who convinced him to move to Orosi. Coincidence or Providence? I guess we will see.

    • @CostaRicaLaw
      @CostaRicaLaw  7 месяцев назад +1

      They say Costa Rica is a "small country" in more ways then one. Yes what a coincidence. Well you will certainly be an expert in the area during your stay with all those experts around.

    Great video... we've been here three years and are finding our groove here in Peréz Zeledón. One bone to pick, though. The bureacracy in Costa Rica is epic. Comical, if you have a sense of humour and all the time in the world. Not so funny if you really need something done today or even this week.

    Saw this video while working on itinerary for trip to Costa Rica. I was intrigued and had the flexibility to add a couple of days at John’s Airbnb to the trip. What a great decision that was. John’s place is a work of art and the room is 5 star. Two bedrooms and a kitchenette. It overlooks the brook and gardens. The grounds are 3 1/2 acres of magic. I think it is impossible to capture it in photos. But if you want a get away to relax and decompress I cannot recommend enough. John invited us into his home and shared all kinds of insights about the culture of Costa Rica and how to travel symbiotically with the country. He elaborated on what it is like living in Costa Rica . He shared many stories about his trials and tribulations experiences while creating this special get-away. It was much like a continuation of the video except in person. Check out the link in the video description to learn more about this special Airbnb

      Costa Rica is not a cheap retirement destination and as John pointed out it really depends on which part of the country you are living in. Properties in the Central Valley tend to be less expensive than in the coastal areas and the same applies for rentals. Thank you for watching and commenting.

    Thank you for opening up this sensitive subject for conversation. I hope the day never comes when Costa Rica wants to build a wall. But I wouldn't balame them if they did. Indeed there is no quick fix or solution to how people move across the land and how they impact it. We should all tread lightly and respectfully. Native and local people EVERYWHERE have these same mixed feelings. It seems like the excessive first class American, German and Canadian Gringos are dominating and throwing money at the booming Eco-Tourism industry. So their intention is an attept to allign with the Pura Vida vibe.
    Sorry again for our little barking dog 😅

    • @CostaRicaLaw
      @CostaRicaLaw  6 месяцев назад

      Hi. Thank you for watching the video and commenting. Yes, you are correct in your observation about the movement of people across different countries and their impact. As long as the local population sees it as a benefit then there is harmony and when they don't then bitterness sinks in. It generally happens when they don't see the financial benefit of the influx.

    0:20 31 miles? Later on - 4000 ft, temps in the 60's to mid 70''s. Why do you USAmericans have such a difficult time with metric? It's a metric country. Adapt. Just use it, don't convert to what you know best. I know USAmericans down here for 20 years, that still use Fahrenheit for temperature, and can't grasp Celsius at all. It's sad.
