  • This is a kayak hatch Installation video. Kayak hatches are great for storage which is important on a fishing kayak where space is limited. I installed this hatch on my Lifetime Tamarack Angler 100 fishing kayak with basic tools and #8 stainless screws. These hatch covers can be used on any kayak, not only mine! I hope you guys enjoy my kayak hatch install tutorial!

      Nice, John. I've been sick and haven't got out fishing in forever. A guy asked me today what is the best kayak I've ever owned and I said Lifetime Tamarack Angler 100. I got mine new for $234. Easy to get up on the Element. Takes all the gear I need. Tracks well and is fairly fast in the water. Haven't floated the Outback. I hope I get over this sickness crap so I can lobster on it 👍👊

    Making sure those holes r really secured don’t wanna sink haha 👏🏻

      Hahaha. Yeah, sinking wouldn't be an issue for me, but if these are not sealed correctly you could get some residual water... drips and what not. Thanks fir watching 👀 👍

    Great video my only issue is you should not use a drill to screw in your screws. Look at all that metal from the stripped screw head do it by hand may take more energy but you won’t have stripped screws. Also cringed at drilling through the piece that’s going to be mounted. Every time the drill broke through and smashed into the frame, I winced. But I repair precision, CNC machinery and it’s my issue. Great job they look awesome! I’ve been contemplating replacing my center hatch lid that came stock as well. I might cut off the lip, melt it down and fill in that back gap prior to installing. Have you had any issues with that gap?

      Hey bud, I'm sure you're right about everything you mentioned, but so far, so good. I think it's been roughly 4 years, and I've had no issues with leaks or cracks. At the end of the day, when I shot the video, I hot the kayak at Walmart or clearance at like $240, so I figured even if I messed up, I can do another video of me melting plastic and patching it together. If you have the same kayak, I'd advise doing what I did, but use your own knowledge that you have learned at your job. Thanks for watching 👍🙏

    Great DIY video. Save the scrap plastic in case you need to do a plastic weld job in the future to patch up deep gouges and leaks. 🤙🏼🤙🏼

    What size hath did you use ?

    • @OfficeofthePacific
      @OfficeofthePacific  2 года назад

      Chuck, I used a 7". They're measured by the diameter of the hole and the measurement does not include the flange. Hope that helps... happy fishing and a great new year to ya!

    I don’t know much about kayaks, but what are those hatches exactly for? Storage?

      You can throw stuff underneath if you want. I usually put a dry bag with sodas and sandwiches under the front hatch. The rear hatch I never open because that's where my bait tank sits. The problem with the stock hatches is, you cannot set anything on top because of it's shape. Now with the flush mount hatches my bait tank sits perfectly and no residual water gets inside. They're really great! Thanks for watching 👍👊
