Installing A Kayak Hatch
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 1 апр 2020
- I bought a kayak for my brother in law which only had one hatch. That hatch had a damaged locking mechanism so I bought a pair of batches from amazon. The first one was easy to install because it was a matter of remove and replace. The one in this video was different because there was no hole to put the other one in. Luckily the kayak had a mold in which I was able to cut out and install the other hatch.
I appreciate you guys watching, please leave a comment and like.

Looked good, easy install. Hope you saved the extra plastic, makes patch work easy down the line.
Let's Go Fishing! South Florida thanks man, I think it was easier to drill holes into kayak since it wasn’t mine lol.....I did save that left over piece just in case
Nice work, Jeff. Simple, easy and quite useful. Just need to get out on the water and make use of it.
Jim M waiting for that day to give that kayak it’s maiden voyage. I gifted that to my brother in law back in December and the only water it’s seen has been from the garden hose
It came out great! Good job Jeff! 👍🏻
XtremeH18 thanks man, I thought I was going to have a hard time but it was pretty easy.
Excellent job Jeffrery !
Alfredo Assef thank you!!! Ahora esperar usarlo
Cool video
Next time, use a Rotozip to cut the hole.
Where did you get that dry bag from?
Looked like a fairly easy and fast install. How did your brother in-law like the new hatch?
Kayak Q it was a fairly quick install. Dremel tool really made it fast. My brother in law was happy he had new hatches, two instead of one now
I'll definitely try it on mine. would you add cault or some sort of sealant as well?
3m has a marine sealant I would recommend using just in case
Nice
Thank you
i found a couple of areas where i can drop my kayak and go fishing during this crisis, but i get lazy or the sun is too hot...lmao
If you're not in the Keys, you're teasing us!
@@JimMFishing nope near Aventura and Hollywood... lol
Can you link the hatch you installed?
I’m sorry for the late reply. just search for 8” kayak hatch on amazon. you’ll find it
Two words my dude... Jig Saw (or is that one word... Jigsaw) but either way, thats WAYYY easier next time - AND - you will have a much cleaner cut to try and seal watertight. That rough edge left from all those drill holes will be a pain in the butt to get it to sit flush and seal up so water wont get in your kayak!
In hinesight i know not everyone has a Jig Saw, but since you have a Dremel (aka - A name brand Rotary Cutter) you could just get the router bits for those hand-held guys and it would cut much easier and without the need for drilling 200 pilot holes next time.
@@RCichard absolutely would be easier that way lol just worked with what I have at the moment but definitely the next time I do this that jigsaw or jig saw will be used 😅
@@ProjectReel Ahhh i know the feeling, trying to work with what you have! Sometimes its just not worth dropping the bones on a new tool you wont use but a few times in your life - so i totally get it. Still hope you enjoy the mods, i know i do on my yak!
