@@carlX53 Well, in short, I love them.
Previously I had a pair of SONY WH-CH700N. I can only compare the two. The Sennys have much more defined and deep bass. It's night and day. It's very clear and only reveals distortion in the recording itself. In fact, one of the Sennys faults is that if your recording has any inconsistencies, you're going to hear them much more clearly. The soundstage is fairly wide for closed back cans. I can now hear so many more details in recordings. Songs I have listened to for years sound new or "remixed".
Both my old Sonys and the new Sennys use the aptX CODECs (aptX HD in the case of my phone and straight up aptX on my PC (Windows 10 Pro)). I have noticed more lag in movies than before but I was able to offset the audio in Kodi and that issue is solved. No considerable lag when watching something like RUclips. I haven't tested PC games yet but they seem fine so far. WAPATI out on Kodi resulted in way too overblown a bass response so a switch to DIRECT SOUND solves this issue. Now movies sound amazing and really take advantage of the improved soundstage.
The Bluetooth connection is rock solid. I have way more range than with my old Sonys and areas of my house that used to drop out no longer do. Also, my old Sonys would occasionally lose connection for a few seconds every so often, on the random. This is no longer the case.
The APP on my Android phone (LG V30 ThinQ) runs really well. I don't think people really understand the APP. You connect it up, adjust your parameters and it's saved to the cans. You don't really have to run the APP after that. So if it does disconnect, it's not a failing of the software, it's just not being used anymore so it disconnects until you need to make more adjustments. The multipoint works without the APP connected, the EQ settings are retained.
The multipoint works a charm by the way. I pause content on my PC and play something on my phone and it just switches within a second (and vice versa). I can't live without it now.
Yes, these cans are considerably quieter than my old Sonys. I haven't yet come across a situation where they weren't loud enough for me but they do have a much sooner to reach upper limit.
As far as the sound, again, if your source is not a great quality you are going to really hear it. They're very analytical in that way. A crunchy, 8 BIT sample is going to stick out like a sore thumb. But if you are listening to a good source, these things just sing. And they sound good with any genre I can throw at it. EDM and Electronic tracks just come alive and the bass is absolutely fantastic. You can almost feel it, like there is a huge subwoofer at your feet. Orchestral music and soundtracks are particularly good. Again, the great soundstage is apparent here. Rock music might want a bit more in the MIDS but, again, this all depends on your source.
The mistake to make with these Sennheisers is expecting them to make everything you listen to sound better. Some stuff just doesn't sound good at all and it's because of their revealing nature. A bad mix or a less than quality recording will be amplified just as a good recording would be.
It's been three days and I am in love with these things. Keeping in mind that I haven't compared them to the newer Sony offerings, I do recommend them.
      I hope this helps. 🎧

though the bathys sound better than the m4´s they are also about twice the price of the m4´s, so because of that I think the m4´s are overall a better pick

  • @ConsecDesign

the bathys have spring loaded yokes that affect the pivot of the cups, and on some heads it can create too much jaw pressure. the headband adjustment also seems too short for my head, so i had to extend the headband adjustment nearly all the way, which increases the clamping force, making the first issue even worse. had to send them back. ended up getting the M4, and have had no comfort issues and i actually prefer the sound of the M4 to Bathys.

I have the HD560s with a small Fiio amp/DAC... After trying almost everything, I came to the realization that all the ANC headphones sound like crap.. but are just soooo practical that my Momentum 4 are the ones I use the most ... I think you have to look for the least worst instead of the better ones.

@@cr4zy4christ Haven't tried the M4's with the amp... As for the 560s, i would say the sound in general got 10% better... The bass got a little bit tighter and louder. For example, on some shows I notice that without the amp I couldn't hear the background street noise in the show... With the amp I could hear the background rumble and details of the street noise.

    • @BloomAudio
      @BloomAudio  Год назад +5

So DAC mode is when you have the device plugged directly into a source using the USB cable. That uses the internal DAC on the headphones and the DSP to give you the same tuning as wireless but at a higher resolution since you're wired. Plugging in the with the 3.5mm cable in strict wired mode bypasses the DSP and gives you a different overall sound. Hopefully that makes sense!

Having Senn ie600 and HD650 (which i like both extremely) I have ordered M4 as replacement for SONY xm3 1000 (too old + battery not good enough recently) I have to say that I'm bit disappoint. The cans are better than Sony's in many ways (in term of sound quality) but the overall feel is pretty cheep, the volume is too low (you have to keep 85-90% iPhone almost all the time) there are occasional cut-off in music play (rare but they exist) and the app is rudimental. The SQ is rather good but too much bass, bit wailed vocals and not great heights. For a set of ANC Bluetooth is good not great but compare with wired Senns this cans are joke.

  • @juanbaclavab

they suck: unbalanced sound (in certain tracks left sounds more than the right driver), small earcups, anc not that good, and internally and aesthetically there's not much of a difference between these and the bt450 which cost around $100
