Props to you for keeping this car SO well maintained, for it being 15 years old it's practically perfect. Not a lot of people keep, and maintain their first car so well. Goes to show how with proper care you can keep a 15 year old car looking brand new!
There’s a kid in my hometown that has a minty yellow supercharged version of this car. I believe his dad bought it brand new and has now passed it down to him. It has yellow interior bits where yours are red and only has 87k on it. I talked to him at the gas station the other day about it. He’s meticulously maintaining it just like his dad did before him.
I remember not liking the Cobalt much when it came out because of GM’s quality and fit and finish back then but this SS model was a sleeper with its turbo engine. It was kind of a badass for its time. Also averaging 25-26 mpg and then 32 mpg for road trips, is pretty good for how much power this has 👍👍
Wanna buy mine? 2009 SS Sedan, 142k miles, 1 owner, garage kept, lives in the desert, silver out, grey & black inside, limited slip & sunroof, spare tire. Unmodified, good condition. No major damage, a few dings & dents. Unused OG floor mats. I have the window sticker, too.
This is one of my top guilty pleasure cars. Cobalt has always held a special place in my heart since I was a kid. Wish I could’ve found one when I was buying a car
I think this car was made at the wrong time. It was so overlooked and didn’t take off like it should have! I own the supercharged version and it’s a total riot to drive
I had a huge grin when you got on the throttle. The sound reminds me of the Fiesta and Focus ST, especially with that cold air intake! Such a sweet car.
My first gen chevy cruze had a pioneer system in it, and I really liked it once I got the equalizer adjusted properly. I liked it more than most of the economy car bose systems today.
I remember my first lease car was a 2006 chevy Cobalt LS which actually had a Spoiler wing similar to this one in video. Enjoyed my time with it. Engine was 2.2 Liter. Drove great!
Oh man, the intake sounds are bringing back memories.. My best friend owned one as his first car. I went in so many rides in that thing. The SC versions of these made these have a bad rep. The TC models were great cars, aside from the 'slightly' plasticy interior. 0.9g handling in stock form, made a lot of power from just a downpipe and tune, lightweight, flatfoot shifting from the factory, etc.
I love this Cobalt, I was fortunate enough to get mine in White 🙏 , if it wasn't for that I wanted the Victory Red. Yours looks and sounds great, I've done my best to keep my looking minty. Hope you never sell it!!
Props to you for not investing the entire value of the car into aftermarket fart cans, blacked out headlights, windshield decals that spell out "I L L I C I T" , bolted on spoilers that look like they were cut off of shopping carts, and other junk that makes it look and sound like a total PoS like so many of the cars I see that are driven by self-proclaimed "car guys"... give me a break
When I moved to the US from the UK, the car I bought was a Saturn Ion Redline with the supercharged LSJ. Its the same engine in the SC Cobalt SS. GM built some really nice cheap sports car back then. I still have the Redline, though isn't driven as much anymore.
An almost identical example to yours with 8k miles sold for $19,750 on BringATrailer on March 24th, 2023, black/white interior and larger wing being the only difference. It was also Victory Red, and it had the optional configurable display that appears to replace the boost gauge.
I had a 2005 that was horribly modded. 7 previous owners, smallest supercharger pulley, e85. eventually it blew a spark plug out lmao. So fun when it worked though.
Does this have the limited slip diff? I also have the LCD screen on the pillar that you speak of. And to further elaborate on the tightness of steering the LCD screen also has a G-Force gauge on it. So you make a left or right turn it shows the gauge and it saves the high G-Force until the next recycle of the key. I ride General gmax Z rated tires on mine and I've had it up to 1. 89 G's. And one more note if you hold in the traction control button along with the traction control being turned off and initiating launch control you can also turn off the ESC
Wow what an amazing car! I had a g6 In hs and it was stock; this kid had this exact car and what did I know, I told him my car would dust his 120 hp cobalt…. Haha little did I know what SS meant in the world of Chevy and he embarrassed me lmao I’ve wanted one ever since
The best option are... 1. LSD (limited slip differential) 2. RPD (reprogrammable performance display) 3. Recaro red leather seats 4. Then the power sun roof. 😂
Man I remember seeing these cars when I was a little kid,and I remember wanting one when I got into my teens, but finding one these days is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Your car is a beauty 👍🏾

The more manual POV drives I watch, the more i realize my car has absurd amounts of rev hang and no throttle ease. This is a comment made post clutch replacement too. We're talking 2.5-3 second rev hang and a millimeter of distance between 5% and 70% throttle. I wish I was exaggerating. The '95 Mazda Protege might be a rare find but maybe there's a reason for that lol
Whereabouts in michigan are you from? I recognized the area and thought to myself, there’s now way.. then as you got on the main roads I was shocked that you are so close to where I live, it’s cool to see I’m not the only one out here enjoying these wonderful cars
Thanks for saying you got the tires for free. Disappointed the topher only mentioned it in his description. His Bridgestone review should have been listed as sponsored.
@@TopherDrivesthis was right around the time of GMs Bankruptcy case and they pretty much built this car with a lot of parts from the GM parts bin to save money.lol
Surprised you didn't tune for the intake.. isn't that harmful to the engine? I thought any mods that affect air or fuel is a no-no, especially on turbo cars.. and it really unlocked a lot of power for my friends car. Totally different beast afterwards. I can see the difference watching your pulls compared to my friends. Highly recommend the Hahn Racecraft downpipe/chargepipe & tune, you'll love the car even more. It struggled to get traction through 2nd afterwards.. not that it needs more power but guaranteed to be safer with the intake.
@@flatf3057 They're both named Chris. Hence the second half of "Christopher", "Topher". This is the younger gentleman, the older one is the guy that runs Winding Road.
Imagine if they didn't stop producing this car... American car makers really dropped the ball for stopping producing compact cars. Chevy should bring Cobalt back to shake Civic Toyota Subaru and Hyundai
i can imagine that. no one would buy normal cobalts when civics and Corollas are way better made and more reliable. American compacts went away because they were mostly terrible.

30 minutes of cobalt SS, we are blessed today

Rare to see a cobalt ss that isn't ruined from my experience lol
real
Same with the neon srt4
My dad passed down his 2007 ss sedan to me, also in victory red. Really enjoying this thing
Chevy needs to make this car again
AS AN ELECTRIC SUV? 🤣 (GM LOGIC)
Ya they need to get back in this segment

Oh, I changed the stereo for a matching AC Delco with the USB connector. Works with iPhone. Has Bluetooth for calls, not music.

hahah this is just my veloster n transposed 10 years in the past. Red and everything. stupid intake. love it
I like the fonts on these analog gauges. Now a days we are stuck these horrible digital gauges. I hope one day cars revert back to old school needles.
