Well i'm here around since omg 12 pm.. Did i even slept?? Well originally i wanted to do something for a team project, but it's too nyeh to get started. I didn't do a single thing throughout the last 8 months... Because programming is much more important to me

I just realised something about the taking breaks part. While still in school I had those brain dead periods around 2pm. I tried to fight it when I first began having late afternoon classes and it was awful. But at some point I realised that if I let myself relax for really 10 to 20 minutes, I'd be back with full energy for the rest of the school day. So I slept. Face down with my head on my arms, in the classroom. There were few teachers who complained but they were used to me being the odd one anyway so they accepted it xD

Wow I feel very validated from watching this video! Thank you. I was diagnosed this year with ADHD at the age of 37. I am still trying to learn as much as possible to see what will work for me.
Forgive my ignorance. What kind of doctor diagnosed you? My regular doctor said I would have been diagnosed before turning 18 if I had ADD. But I am finding I have a whole lot in common with people who have been diagnosed with it. I am frustrated and want to know if there’s any help for me.
mayapple36 There is definitely help for you. I wasn't medically diagnosed until I was 29. All plumbers aren't created equal... nor are doctors... Just visit a different M.D. I don't know your situation, but it probably wouldn't hurt to research some doctors and their methods. So that you're not paying to be told "You're Fine"... Due to a lack of understanding, a personal biased, or whatever the case may be. Initial Dr. visits to be seen for Adhd, even with insurance can be from $150-$250, if I remember correctly. A good start for info may be some local support groups online or with an app like Meet Up, mental health organizations or clinics, or just figure out some way to locate and talk to people with Adhd or other mental health needs that can give you insight with their experience with Dr's around you.
I am 77! and have just learned of it. Coffee helps me focus. Just a good cup and a half. I am rolling with all this. Very grateful that there is so much new info on this phenomenon that has affected me all my life. I refuse to let it get me down.

I was the C & D kid in school. Brother got me focused on car's. Your Right about Enjoying yourself. I own a Onsyte1 Vehicle Repair. Wasn't a morning person. I Love working on car's and trucks. When I'm NOT working I'm lost and I have 5 big signs saying don't talk to me until I speak to you.. I'm sure I noticed you give me a second... Thanks... And when I'm having problems with a repair and someone says something. I totally forget what I'm doing. Start something else.. Most my customers know this Rule. And respect it.. With out working on vehicles.. I'm lost..

i had the same so try to study in the evening and on weekends at night. During school days then wake up on time but try to do your school work in the evening and also do lots of sports !

There are LOTS of jobs in Canada that don't allow for breaks. It's really harsh. Restaurants and convenience stores, for example. I had an office job where I could take breaks pretty freely. I often had days where I would have to go on really really long walks and even after that I couldn't concentrate. I do the same job from home now and it's a lot better, though I miss goofing around with the other people. I do better when I can control my hours somewhat.

ADD people are either highly productive or not. They are able to work at high speed with great intensity and accuracy but then we need to rest and relax or goof off and play a game, sports or just do facebook stuff. Try to discover if you work better under pressure or when there is no deadline.
Nobody I've ever known with ADHD is good at ANYTHING without a deadline. Urgency is one of the four pillars of ADHD performance (the other three are novelty, interest, and challenge).
This is not gonna bring any productivity to anyone's life with ADHD, why would I have to compromise with this,,, from moment to moment. I want to make my emotion the way I want to be....all those medical doctors want the patient to cope with the disease.
looooool what a mess are our doctors of today. if something AFFECTS a person's sense of wellbeing and ability to achieve and perform what they need to do to survive, and without compiling more illness such as depression, they need some direction or at least advice and somebody to listen to them.

What makes you say that??? Seems very judgemental and completely general. Both my parents as well as myself are ADHD. My dad is a teacher, mom a nutritionist and banker, and I work for a local government in right of way acquisition. "Most" seems like a bit of an exaggeration.....
I bet you feel that way because it can take a LOT to get ahold of and work with our ADHD in a productive/effective way. Maybe we need more ADHD specialized coaches and peer support specialists. I get it though. I am and have been struggling mightily to function. I am "high functioning" when looking at all that I have been challenged with and all yet not high functioning when I look at day to day life... and work. UGH

When I took ritalin, I used to take a ritalin around that time, then I'd take a nap. LOL - it was like a coffee nap! I guess some of us are pretty hopeless. hehe
It is not about BORING things! This is a false statement. ADHD people cannot concentrate on anything! With maybe exception of 1-2 subjects that interest them. They have problems with deadline, finances, emotional outbursts etc. etc. This is LIFE. Are they bored with LIFE?

Meditation helps me to feel more 'clear' and relaxed/grounded and then I can concentrate / focus better (again)
To-do lists do not work for me! I write them and promptly ignore them.
