Hey, Coach! Love your videos! You've helped me climb a lot playing my long range mages. I do have a request. Is there any chance that we can get a video that focuses on late game objectives and teamfights? We get a lot of content from you that focuses heavy on early game and landing phase (that we all appreciate heavily). Just a simple request from a dedicated fan!
Hey mate, thanks for the feedback. Out of interest have you watched the video I released on mid game ? Would you prefer I use a game from start to finish or literally just mid/late game? To give a bit of clarification, I actually focus more on the early to mid game purely because if you understand the identity of the champ those decisions come a lot easier. In my mid game video I try to explain how that works, but I'm happy to put more of an emphasis on it in my videos if you feel it's not addressed enough :)
@@CoachCurtis Thanks for the reply! I was thinking a video from mid-late game kind of in the style on how you focus your videos now that shows early to mid game! I'd love to see some stuff based around team fighting and the sorts that you can work in there, especially when the game seems to go on for a bit longer and everyone is at high power. Maybe even playing from behind in a real tough game
@@cotys6000 Hmm alright let me have a think about how I'd structure it/ do a video like this. Because I'd want to make sure there is plenty of context around the game state
Another tip for anybody who sees this trying to learn Diana! For a stronger short trade, auto attack minions twice before going in for a QE trade. Your first auto on the enemy champion will proc your passive giving extra damage in that short trade.
This was really interesting. I have been winning a lot of games on my Diana prior to seeing this, I have a 68% winrate, but find myself having trouble with waves, so that was really useful. One thing I'm wondering about, is I find myself almost always starting W instead of Q, unless there's a jungle invade to deal with. I still max q first on most matchups, but I like to avoid taking hits, which you mentioned keeping health early. It also helps if we have a melee champ matchup where they might otherwise win a trade at lvl 1. Downside, I think this contributes to my bad habit of hard pushing every wave. Over all, Curtis, fantastic job of carefully presenting important information without too much fluff to teach me more stuff!
Long time Diana main here and I love your commentary and your reasoning for things, only thing I question is not pushing the lane in level one to get the wave to bounce back to you to get it into a good position for level 3 combo. All while doing basically the same thing your doing in lane. Great guide and i love your reasoning though!!
Well there is something complicated about her kit which is that she can actually triple e with one q, she can q and insta e the closest objective and before the q end its tragectory u will have e reset, therefore when ur q hits with the rest of the objectives with the end of it u will have another e reset marker making u able to triple e in less than 2seconds
Just somethign i noticied at the start of the video, stopwatch mastery doesn't save you 600 gold it says on the tool tip that it only contributes 250 gold to the items it builds into. So even though you got the stopwatch items the zhonyas will cost slightly higher to complete to compensate for you not having the shop version of stopwatch! :-)
Holy crap I actually did not know that LOL. Wow that is a big mistake by me, thank you very much for pointing that out. It still is quite efficient on Diana regardless because you get zhonyas early, but given the 10.4 patch and nerf to perfect timing I don't think its as valuable anymore
@@CoachCurtis 600g from one mastery would be way too op. What other secondary would you recommend? I really hate the nerf to Perfect Timing, 14mins is too much.
17:48 at this point, since lee sin was there when you jumped on ahri, wouldn't you get her ult anyway without needing to ult? I understand that her ult is more valuable than yours in this situation, so it still good for you, but, it seems like she would've ulted anyway, because she had no flash. (sry for any grammar mistake, english is not my language)
I agree man, I think I could have blown that Ultimate from Ahri regardless. I think I also thought that lee might be able to land abilites if I pull her in and maybe can chase. But I think it was bad from me
i was making the same on my games with diana, ulting just to see them flash away, then I realized that even without ult, I pose enough threat to make them flash, so lately i've been holding my ult to finish them off when they blow their escapes. Thanks for the feedback, this video alone improved a lot my gameplay mid, not only with diana, but with others melee champs as well.
Hi im a Bronze player who is hardstuck and started ranked this season. My micro and macro play have improved tremendously over this season. I destroy my lane 8/10 times i play in top but then I would lose due to a heavily fed enemy bot lane. So i decided to switch to mid recently for more map pressure. Diana is currently in my champion pool so thank you so much for this guide. However, I have one question about the game in general, when you gain a huge lead how do you translate it when the laning phase is over, and when ur lanes int? (Which is rlly most of my matches right now in Bronze).
You need to identify the people you can actually threaten, and make sure you are coming in from the side/flanks so you can get backline access. This way, even if the ADC is fed, you can create enough space for your team by 1 shotting the AD or buying enough time for them to kill the enemy front line
This is a differing strategy that spikes a lot earlier then the Roa/Nashor build. You can use this build because you get enough durability from the double dorans rings. The Roa>Nashors is great into harder matchups where you need earlier tankiness and survability
Kind of bummed that I have to wait til Gold 4 to get a coaching session from you. Hopefully I'll get there soon. Just a two quick questions if you don't mind. I may have missed it but what are the runes you're running, I know it's conqueror but what are the three others and the secondary tree; what made you pick those runes? Additionally, are there scenarios you'd pick electrocute or phase rush on Diana? I see a lot of Koreans running Phase Rush mid but I am unsure of what games to pick that in. I know it's good for chasing down or escaping but am unsure of its viability when I'm not exactly the best player out there.
thanks again Curtis for such a good review, but I think it could be more helpful if you add some information about really hard matchups like a Cassiopia. I know even cassia still beatable, but... ^^
Both builds are good, I prefer the nashors into zhonyas build better atm because the 2 item spike is nuts, AND Diana can minimize lanes with the double dorans + farming with Q
Been playing an insane amount of Diana recently (over 100k in like 3 months) , really enjoy her and have the early game mechanics and wave control down, but didn't ever consider going dub ring on her, I personally dont go hourglass on her that often (and dont need biscuits) so find domination secondary so much more useful in the mid/late game. What would you say the best way to play against hard counters is? For example if you are hard countered with leblanc or a galio?
Against hard counters I suggest farming to key spikes, it's okay to give presure, use Q to farm creeps. Also you can actually opt in to the ROA build vs Galio and go ROA Mercs so you dont just get 1 shot. But all these matchups require decent farm, once you get 1 item you can start to contest and win 2v2s. Against galio though, you just have to be creative with your flanks and positioning to get onto the back line
So I have watched this guide a few times and play diana a lot and it's been very helpful. But I have one question, when you're trying to have the waves push into your tower as diana, do you q to punish them while they're standing in the wave or not? Because wouldnt that cause it to start pushing away from your tower?
It really depends on how big the wave is, if its really big then you can definitely Q them and thin it simulatenously. Otherwise trying to walk up a little and force them out the wave can also work, or position from the side so you don't hit many minions
Hey man, love the vod. I play talon and I taught he was similar to diana in some ways. In contrast tho, I always push my first two waves to get lvl 2 first and place early vision for scuttle grab/gank unless I'm against Lucian or Tristana. Should I do that or let it push for possible ganks/early trades just like diana?
Something Curtis mentioned to me is that it's smart to play to the identity of your champion. The identity of Talon in the first 5 minutes is to be able to have a favorable hard trade at level 2. This is to create kill potential if they stay OR make them back at lvl 2/or burn all their pots. To accomplish these early advantages that talon excels at, you need space. Plus shoving the ways at lvl 1 and 2 will result in a freeze just outside enemy tower because wave clear isn't fast enough that early. I imagine it would be smarter to wait until you get that heavy trade and when you've created pressure, then shove the wave, get vision and contest scuttle. I have no idea if this would be ideal in all match ups, but it makes sense to me if you were to play it this way.
Well I'm not a talon master, but I agree there are some similarities between Talon and Diana (both want to poke with Diana Q or Talon W) to get the enemy low enough to kill them with aggressive trades. I kind of think Diana has an easier time getting on the enemy because the Diana E range is much higher. So on talon, I think pushing early might be okay IF you are also getting poke on the enemy at the same time. I don't see much point just pushing lvl 1 and 2 if you aren't W'ing the enemy as well. I'd recommend trying both and see which one feels best, off the top of my head I've vsed talons that do both. The ones that are more annoying to verse are the ones that keep the wave in the middle and constantly poke with W.
I play these two champs and they are indeed quite similar. Talon level 2 power spike, Diana level 3. Difference is that you have to trade more with talon (dude to his early damage) and play more aggressively so that you can get the early kills and afterwards focus on roaming. Diana is a good roamer but i feel like it's better to stay in lane more than talon. Whenever the opponent backs/roams diana can do tons of damage to the turret
This guide isn't just for diana, this is laning phase guide.
All champ specific guides are that way technically. You can understand the concept, extrapolate and apply the mechanics/strategy to any champ/situation.

Great advice Kyle, thanks for pointing that one out :)
Thank you so much for the guide and information!! New sub. 😁✌️
hi curtis - ust got back from another video of diana from you - and THIS is some very good guide - gj thumbs up
Glad I could help you out Georg :) Thanks for tuning in

Thanks Mocafrost appreciate it :)
I am so happy I've found your channel my man.
My pleasure Josh!
Brilliant as always 👍🏻
I love your content, it's informative and makes the time fly. Could you possibly make a veigar vid in the future?
Yeah I can do that eventually :)
Appreciate it Bryan :)
this just got me out of bronze thank you coach curtis
Curtis is everyone's coach
trying to pick her up after being gone for 3 years. they nerfed everything about my main Viktor so I gotta get a new bae
You just got new subscriber ! I bet you will grow huge in futur ^^ keep up your work
Thanks Anis, appreciate the subscribe! Will do mate

No problem at all Chadi :) I'm still kinda new I guess, hopefully it'll get more attention soon!
Keep up the good work, maybe a neeko guide would be so helpful, thank you !
Keep it up Curtis !
Will do Drowks :)
Thanks man this was really helpful
No problem at all mate :)
Love this vid. Thanks man
Well there is something complicated about her kit which is that she can actually triple e with one q, she can q and insta e the closest objective and before the q end its tragectory u will have e reset, therefore when ur q hits with the rest of the objectives with the end of it u will have another e reset marker making u able to triple e in less than 2seconds
ruclips.net/video/CXw47ixQuVI/видео.html here’s a video that shows it
Just somethign i noticied at the start of the video, stopwatch mastery doesn't save you 600 gold it says on the tool tip that it only contributes 250 gold to the items it builds into.
@@KurzedMetal You can still go magical footwear, OR try secondary resolve with shield bash and second wind
Excellent Guide Keep it Up!!!!!!!!
Will do Kiko :) Thanks for tuning in
Wonderfull Video keep on going guy!
Will do mate! Appreciate the support
Coach Curtis thank you! Your channel is amazing btw
Nice guide man! One thing, Diana's q starts her passive, adds attack speed while killing turent
Thanks man! Ahh yeah I should use it for that extra AS for damaging tower agreed :) Appreciate it
Very informative and helpful vid thx
No problem Andreas, glad I could help you out
coach curtis the GOAT
Thanks Mich :) Appreciate you tuning in
Very concise and pragmatic, xclnt!! +sub
Appreciate it mate!
Hi coach Curtis! Would you recommend maining Diana still considering the current meta?
Hi! I have a question: why rush nashor and then zhonya? I was looking around and I usually see roa>nashor
This is a differing strategy that spikes a lot earlier then the Roa/Nashor build. You can use this build because you get enough durability from the double dorans rings.
The Roa>Nashors is great into harder matchups where you need earlier tankiness and survability
@@CoachCurtis got it :) thx!
@@CoachCurtis Hey coach! What kind of match ups would you consider going roa first?
This video helped me a bunch!! I had a couple questions though - How do we know when and where to place wards and whether or not to push in the lane?
Watch my jungle tracking fundamentals guide and warding guide
Curtis I think you should start streaming gameplays in smurfs and in high elo as educational content for us viewers
Will do next time :) The same fundamentals apply though
A very nice interpretation, keep it up cheers:)))
Will do mate, thanks for tuning in :)
Is Rod of Ages not worth buying on Diana? Do you prefer straight nashors in zhonya into deathcap/void more?
Roa is still very good
Both builds are good, I prefer the nashors into zhonyas build better atm because the 2 item spike is nuts, AND Diana can minimize lanes with the double dorans + farming with Q
Great and very informative video!
Any thoughts about ROA on diana.
