I haven't had the EC Toasted, but OF 1910 is one of my favorite low-proof bourbons.

It's a huge downgrade from OF 1910. Traded my ECTB bottle since it's just collecting dust.

Nice review! I’m about nine months into my journey and I agree that the 1910 and Woodford double oak are a little bitter at times and the EC toasted is usually more flavorful. I get 1910 for 55.00 and ECTB for 52.00 on sale last time. Cheers

    Great match-up! Also, great one-liners!
Josh: "It's my job to know what you like."
    Erin: *eyeroll*
ECTB Has gotten a lot of hate, and I guess the batch differences could account for it, but I REALLY like it and went through the bottle I got last year (for sub-$50!) waaaaay too fast. Like many others, OF 1910 was my first double-oaked product, and I really like it and always keep it on my bar.

Big fan of both of these! ECTB is definitely becoming easier to find. I wonder if they were treating the waters and then decided to ramp up production.

Interesting review. ECTB has got a number mixed reviews by some well know bourbon channels since it came out. I bought a bottle a while back expecting something similar to 1910 or Woodford Dbl Oak. It definitely was different than both of those, but I still liked it a lot. I’m in CA and paid $59 at the time which is a lot for me. 1910 also runs about $55-65 here. Well yesterday I picked up the ECTB on sale for $45! I like it even more at that price. 👍🏻👍🏻

Wow, what a great head to head! For me, both drink with a flavor density much higher than their proof point. Especially 1910. Nice.

Thank you for describing what toasted barrel elements triggering Apple Pay. It seems challenging for blind comparisons, but imagine trying to select a bottle to purchase based on someone else’s discretion when you don’t understand. You guys have been doing a much better job then most other channels for sure. I keep using your comments about readily available bottles such as old Forrester 100 proof or 1920 or 1910 etc. to base whether or not I would or would not enjoy one of the other bottles that you are trying to describe to the audience. Thank you for your efforts ;)

We certainly try our best. It takes a discerning viewer to pick up why we do or don’t like something and weigh that against their own personal preferences to really have hope for a review to translate in an effective way, but we definitely want to communicate as clearly as possible what someone could expect from a pour. Appreciate you watching!

Fun vid as usual. The only EC product I do not like is the toasted. OF 1910 is the benchmark for all tastings I do. Very consistent.

I've stayed way from the EC Toasted Barrel, for some reason.... and I have had the OF 1910 and liked it very much. The 1897 is my favorite OF that I have had (1897, 1910, 1920, 86 Proof). Maybe I should check out that EC Toasted.

Toasted bourbons are my go-to cabin pour. Something about sitting around the campfire with a toasted pour that just feels right. Agree on the ECT being the better pour, though Woodford Reserve DO is right there in the mix as well, and a little bit cheaper. Thanks for knocking out the great content, really appreciate your blind comparisons. If I were better motivated, I'd set up some of my own. I've got dozens of matchups in my collection that I'd love to taste without any label influence first.

  • @jasonc_0928

Josh nails it again! The Brown Forman banana and vanilla is all over the 1910. I have both of them and for toasted barrel bourbons I think they're both very good, but I'd choose 1910 if I had to make a choice because I love that creme brulee and marshmallow notes. I also find that the EC nose and palate are more different while the 1910 nose and palate are almost the same - but taste is subjective. Home run comparison again!

I'm a whisky sipping nube and just had my first "funky" experience with the Sagamore double oaked rye. I think it's the rye because I pick it up a tiny bit in the Four Roses and find it off a bit. It's not in the wheated I've tried so I may just not be a rye guy. Still learning so still not sure why the Sagamore was my first fail so far. I may have to acquire a taste for it or just move on. Still having a blast learning.

Could also just be your palate on a particular day, could be that particular bottle, or it could be a personal palate preference thing. The more things you taste, the more you'll start to hone in on where your preferences lie.

I have not kept track of the results but it's a toss up in my circles which one people like more. I'm OF 1910, I pass on ECT a lot because it's allocated in my area, so other bottles take priority when it is available. 1910 can be found pretty regularly in my area. - Greta job and review!

I love the way y'all describe tasting notes on the EC toasted (one of my few fomo buys at 84), opened it up and totally disappointed, closed t up let it set a few weeks came back to it still flat and oakey fast forward to this review I dug it out again cause it's been sitting on my shelf for 7 months and still a total disappointment, maybe I just got a bad bottle.

We feel you. The one we used for our Patreon community blind was flat and flavorless. 1910 does have consistency on its side, and Woodford Double Oak may be better than both to be honest.

It's funny what some people consider low proof for me anything under 45 is low proof. 45 and above up to 101 Is mid proof, 101-115 is high proof, and 115 to whatever is damn, so good but.....Strong proof 😂😂. I like 125 proof but probably 2 glasses in the same night at best. My sweet spot is 47-115. Total wines has the toasted barrel and at 47 proof for $60 I might get a bottle because you guys liked it. Only with Scotch do I usually spend $50 and above for 43-100 proof and mostly if it's peated.

The batch variation has been VERY hit or miss on EC Toasted.
The inaugural year (2019??) was fantatic. Once seen again on a yearly basis we went out and got a few more and they were downright awful. It is nice that they have come off of allocation for more people to pick one up for themsleves but I find it too much of a roll of the dice.

That price must be what you paid for the bottle? I was surprised ECTB was $70 in your pool. I think MSRP is closer to $50. I just picked one up not to long ago for $56. I was thinking when you mention price in these reviews, you are using MSRP.

OF 1910 all day! ECTB is just overhyped & unremarkable. I only took 2 pours of my ECTB bottle & traded it. Don't waste your time & money chasing it. OF 1910 & WR DO are way better & more available.
