The only one on your list that I’ve seen in stores is the 1910. It’s been a rough year or two for finding the more desirable spirits on the shelf. I will continue to live vicariously through your videos. Cheers!
Definitely shows tasting notes are subjective. Haven’t tried the other three but I do have ECTB and 1910 and I don’t even think it’s close. My opinion is the Elijah is head and shoulders better than the OF. I get an astringent over oak’d note from the 1910 that isn’t there for me on the ECTB.
Nice review of the category. Only caveat would be that in my experience, toasted barrels / double oaks seem to be the whiskeys that can really open up / change the most with a couple weeks of airtime. Playing field was even tonight using neck pours, but I wonder how revisiting the same lineup in 2 or 3 weeks might change the profiles and perhaps even the results??

I agree. I dont like when i see ppl ranking blinds with neck pours and some half bottles. Its not a fair shake for the bottle on the neck. With all neck pours it is more fair, but still should wait til at least a good bit into the shoulder before compairing and ranking so they all have the full potential and opened up

Out of those the only one I can find locally that's not hard to find is the 1910 which I've been wanting to try for awhile, just tried a store pick up Woodford DO and sadly it didn't live up to the hype for me.

Dying to find that Michter's TB or EJTB...just haven't had ANY luck on either of them. I'll keep an eye out for the NULU though. Sounded really good!

Finally managed to get a bottle of Nulu Toasted here in Colorado, and it’s absolutely a winner (from someone who typically prefers toasted or double-barrel bourbons and ryes). I grabbed a bottle of the French Oak ages too, so I’ll open that at some point. I hate dealing with wax-dipped corks, but whatever.

Just picked up a Penelope barrel strength toasted store pick. Haven't cracked it yet but can't wait. Haven't been able to get a Mitchers yet.
FYI Blue Note Crossroads is the same as Michters Toasted but not limited.
I've come back to watch this a year later as I just opened up my Nulu Toasted. Jamie has grown so much in this year and funnily enough, just saw the video where Jamie knocked over a glass and you knocked one in this video.
Replace the 1910 with a Penelope Toasted at Barrel Strength and you will give MTK1 and MTBB a run for their money. Cheers!

I just got the michters limited release toasted sour mash for $100. Its pretty damn good. Idk if id put it over the 1910, but still at the neck pour
I just realized David and Jamie . That's the old bottle of 1910 . You guys might need to run it back . In my opinion the new bottling of 1910 is even better . Try them blind on your own when you get a new one . Curious to see what you guys think .
I prefer the older labeled bottle.
Have you guys tried Widow Jane Decadence. It's aged in Maple barrels. Really good. 😋

I found a single bottle of Elijah in Lavonia Georgia a couple days ago. $100. Knew it was overpriced but bought it anyway.
I loved my local store's Nulu toasted rye pick so much I bought 4 at $119.99 a pop. Since then, state minimum has gone up to $139.99. They are literally pricing themselves out of the market. Who is going to buy 4-5 year old rye whiskey for $139.99, regardless of the finish? If the bourbon wasn't $119.99 as well I would have given that a shot long ago. It's just too darn expensive here. It’s funny I immediately opened my last george t stagg but i’m having a hard time deciding to open my Masters keep toasted or just selling it and getting more bottles. lol
Just open it with some friends, it’s fantastic stuff that deserves to be shared. IMO one of my favorite releases from last year

The last few times, I had a nightcap of the 1910 or the Woodford Reserve DO, I wake up during the night, dying of thirst.
From the outside looking in, it would appear that Michter's are pricing themselves out of the market. Both M10 and Toasted have become available in my state on highly allocated and took a HUGE jump in price from state to reseller. Sadly, at these prices, I will likely not add any to my collection.

Man, a whiskey bar opened by the house I lived in in 2014. I would always get the Michters Toasted Barrel. It was $12. I took a whiskey break and now I come back and its impossible to find and $400 on secondary. wth...?
Jaime will be knocking back some spicy cask strength bourbons one day and reminiscing about when she like flavored whiskey 😆

People rave about ECTB and I got one bottle last year very unimpressed. Gave it away didn’t even bother doing a review on it. 1910 is far superior

I paid $70 and agree, it’s weirdly underwhelming. It wasn’t all that much better than the standard US1 bourbon for me, and I’m pretty sure I think 1910 is a better spirit
@@mattb6617 I compared it to the EC toasted and it was SLIGHTLY better but not by much. Toasted barrels might be over hyped in my opinion 🤷🏻♂️
