    Definitely love this idea - please keep the series going. Lots of distilleries or distinct product lines to choose from, just pick one and keep going. I know you guys don’t love Beam, but a knob creek 9 vs 12 vs 15 or 18 would be cool. Old forester 100 vs whiskey row bib (1897) vs King Ranch or single barrel barrel proof, etc.

  • @LeatherDaddy97
    @LeatherDaddy97 Год назад +25

    101 is 20 bucks here. 25 for a liter. Over 100 i think you hit diminishing returns. For 150 it better be btac (specifically gts) level for me. There are a few exceptions based on personal preference (for example i have a soft spot for the way blood oaths drink so ill spend the money) but overall i think your best bottles are consistently 40-80.

    • @Lawler4040
      @Lawler4040 Год назад +2

      Totally agreed. $40-80 is the sweet spot.

    • @wiindigoat
      @wiindigoat Год назад +1

      @@Lawler4040 Agree, you can get amazing purchase at that price point, either from well established (for good reason) brands that can output without pricing up, or from smaller distillerys and some oddities/curiosities that won't go above the 80/100 price point for a really occasionnal experience. The only reason I would go above the 100/120 price point (and still try to keep it under the 200) is when it's something I'm really looking into, got a change to try, know I won't be disapointed even though let some space for surprises, and that have a bit of a rarity label to it (like I paid 120 for a Blackened CS barrel pick, never been my favorite, but considering a bottle where I live goes around 350 with delivery/import, it was a fair deal to have this nice gimmick on the shelf for that price. Would I pay that much if it was available ?, or just to reshelf a product that I love, probably not). I really feel that above 150 and beyond your paying for scarcity and the collectible (and way beyond that price point, more like second hand market investment), so I won't blame people for doing it, but if it's about ejoying what you drink there's never been a scenario where paying as much as a meal in a 3 star restaurant with your loved one, or a small car, or a cheap trip to a nearby but underrated place/country, is equaly as enjoyable as any drink).

      @Hellboy700 Год назад +2

      True, but they all hover around the $50 to $70 price range (not including Masters Keep). I think for clarity and brevity that the jump to Single Rickhouse is a perfect example of the price outpacing the product.

    I loved the value ranking idea. I often wonder if I'm missing out on high priced bourbons when I choose a high value tastes great bottle. Recently I've been passing on a lot of $70+ bottles because I'm tired of over paying for so-so whiskey. And it seems as though distilleries and new FOMO products are popping out of the woodwork every other week. Especially all the different finished products. Thanks for you constant and in-depth reviews, especially these value driven ones.

However, here in good ol' KY, I can get a 750 of 101 for $20. a 1.75 costs me about $40! But a Rare Breed costs me $56. I have to start thinking hard: is a Rare Breed worth more [almost] than a 750 then another 1.75 on top of it? The answer? Yes, but savor the RB a bit more when enjoyed. Cheers.🥃
