Dan and I basically wanted an excuse to drink William Larue Weller when we pitched this idea to ourselves. Does Weller Antique 107 or Weller Special Reserve even compete with William Larue Weller? Or is WLW King forever? Chaos ensues, whiskey is drank, a worth it winner is crowned.

Two glasses look like apple juice and one looks like motor oil..
Dan: I honestly don’t know which one is which.
🎶 One of these things is not like the other 🎶 😂
Totally. First thing I noticed when the video showed up and I chuckled.
They have to make the people that can’t get them feel a little better lol. You can look at them and instantly know
These geniuses …maybe don’t use clear glasses where it’s obvious which is which by just looking at the color. Corn fed n inbred!
I got a double pour of weller antique 107 for $13 last night in Phoenix Arizona. I gave a great tip and the juice was very good.
If you're still in Phoenix, I can tell you where to get GTS and WLW for really cheap. Also, love the name!
@@bryanl7993where might this place be?
Zeus and Hera didn’t have Hercules. Hercules was a demigod, which mean one parent was a god and the other was a mortal. Hercules’ father was Zeus and his mother was Alcmene. Who happened to be the granddaughter of another demigod, Perseus.
Right - Hera was his step-mother.
Good stuff as always guys. Would have liked to see Weller 12 and Full Proof in here as well to do all the "common" ones
The colored glens might have been a good idea for this one 😂
Also, if you still have any king of Kentucky; y’all should blind WLW against it and see which comes out on top.
Once I saw the color of bourbon I knew which one was WLW 😂🥃
Kinda not fair, right!?
@@janiceweaver6945 yup 🤣I knew right away the darker bourbon was WLW 🤣🦬🥃
@@Jared40 So it's not exactly a blind tasting.
The Dan who is worried about Sean hurting his hand is the same Dan who was waving around a sword like William Wallace fighting the English the other night.
Paid $50 to try Eagle Rare 17, because it's the only BTAC I've been in the room with. Last ounce so it was a risky purchase, but I did get to keep the bottle...
Love the fact the elenor bottle is so noticeable in the background 💪💪
Went to a bar and they had WLW 2019 for $44 for 1 oz. Immediate purchase and do not regret. Incredible.
Hell yeah
A Whiskey Bar in my city (Calgary) still has WLW for sale at $35 CAD/oz. Best whiskey I've ever had.
Found a 2019 WLW in a bar recently. $35/oz. (Canadian dollars too). We were drinking doubles. A wonderful experience. 107 was $25. Full proof $18 and 12 year $14. Made more sense to drink the WLW.
Where was this? asking for a friend who looks like me
You can easily tell which one is WLW just from the color. So much darker in the glass!
That talk at the end about the old weller bottles, that brought me back. Like 2010-2012 timeframe. Used to go into pretty much any liquor store and find either Weller Antique or Weller 12 for under $30. Those old bottles were ugly as hell though, I agree lol.
Watched this video after winning a liquor lottery in VA. I was able to get a 2022 WLW at MSRP. Saving for special occasions.
I like how I can tell what is what without any tasting notes or smell
I have only been able to find Weller SR(54) is the best I have seen. W107 the last time I saw it was (299) and WLW goes for 2,999+ and will never pay that price. WSR is starting to climb to 80 and I’m not happy about that
"This is the best part of being really stupid..." I LOL'd. For real.
I always get a laugh out of your guys pricing. So Cal, try base weller for 70, 107proof is 130 and WLW is 2K. I really need to go hunting in smaller states cuz it's too expensive here. If I'm in a bar, I would pay up to 100 for a taste of any BTAC or older Pappy. The one time I had Pappy 10, it cost me 50. I wouldn't pay that again now that I've had it, but I would put down good money to try the rare unicorn bottles.
I love Antique 107. I just opened another bottle last night and it’s just brilliant. I have not had the pleasure of sampling WLW yet, but there’s a bbq joint 10 minutes away that pours it. I foresee a journey there soon. SR is obviously not as good, but I still think it’s a good everyday supper. I don’t mind it.
I got all at retail prices as well. Sweet! Screw secondary!
State do you live ?? I'm in Colorado can't find them I only have had Antique 107 as a pour a cpl times at a whiskey bar
Just had my first pour of WLW for 45 dollars. Amazing probably the smoothest bourbon I ever had.. 🥃🥃
I buy Black & White coffee all the time. So good! Try Brandywine roasters too for experimental beans
Great video guys! I have to admit for your ad in the video… I can’t get rid of my cloths because most of them are Into the AM already… AND I LOVE THEM!!
visually can see which is which right off the bat
In Texas. Still looking for Antique 107. But I can pick up Still Austin - regular or cask - ALL DAY
You guys, are brilliant, for me, you both are a reference when I need a consistent review, despite sometimes (very few) I disagree, I acknowledge your expertise... but, how easy you both are disperse, distracted; it's very rare when one of you finish a whole sentence and the other don't disrupt to say something, not only different, but also out of context; norms of good speaker and good listener are strictly necessary when you have an audience (subscriptions); it is so frequent when you both miss and forget the point. Cheers! 👍
"I didn't know of anything i could crush a half bottle of". I can personally tell you that Calumet 16 black rack is one of those for me. Cuz i did it. Recently.
And btw, weller SR, in an oak bottle for 2 months is devine. Done it for a more than one.
Dan you can't just go to Ohio on the weekend and find OWA. 😂 It's still allocated and very difficult to get.
Not as of lately. I’ve bought 7 bottles since December of 2022
@@B.English I’m not saying you can’t get it. I’m just saying you are not going to walk into a random store on a weekend and find it on the shelf.
@@jdickinson1977 I guess it depends on the store and when they do their allocated drops. I walked into a store this past Saturday and got a 107 at 2:30. I believe they still had some left today too.
“I grow constantly… this is the best part about being really stupid”
😂😂😂
Had a pour of a 2017 WLW for $80 (this past Christmas). 2oz pour and glad to have experienced it. Cheers
I bought a WL Weller Sesquacentennial decanter full bottle 90 proof at a estate sale for 8 bucks
I had a pour of WLW in Kentucky. It was 50 for a pour and it was by far the best bourbon I’ve ever had.
I live in southern CA and either can't find Weller SR (or it's close to a $100/bottle). Went to my hometown in KS for a funeral last summer and on a whim went into a local liquor store. They had a whole shelf of Weller SR, $22/bottle, $20 if you bought a case. Crazy.
I spent a week in Cleveland in December. Each evening, I would go in search of bourbon. It was the most depressing bourbon hunt I've done. Gas stations in MI have better bourbon selections than I found anywhere in the Solon area. The only bright spot was finding a Middle West Dark Pumpernickel. I've heard all the stories of Weller sitting on shelves in OH. Couldn't prove it by me.
How d'ya think we poor bastards who live here feel! Lol.
Best I can tell from the Ohio Liquor website, all the good stuff is out in the west end of the state for some reason.
I got a bottle of George T. Stagg for MSPR ($99) totally worth it :)
Of course I waited in line, in 30 degree weather for 13 hours to get it.
Again, Worth it!
FWIW the only store I’ve seen in Massachusetts with Weller lately had Special Reserve for $99, Full Proof $299, WLW $2199
They did this episode just to justify drinking more of their WLW. It wasn't about comparing those three bottles at all.
Guys! Thank you so much for this video. For one I have been that person at a bar but it was 2020 GTS in 2021. 35 for an ounce and a half. Second, I have been debating on buying that bottom tear bottle and now I think I will
I would rather get a bottle of Larceny Barrel Proof or a MM private reserve. Easier, cheaper. I have a bottle of Weller 12 which I love, but paid toooo much for.
Lol. Guys, as soon as I saw the glasses, the one in the middle was like a cup of coffee between two glasses of apple juice. I'm in Michigan, and I'd have a better chance of spotting a unicorn than a bottle of Weller. Jealous.
The self-actualization of Dan in this episode is Neo level.
True Dat
I guessed the order right off the color. Cheers Junkies.
I just tried the 107 on a bar pour for the first time and I really enjoyed it. Would definitely pay $80ish for a bottle.
I did too months back I love the smell and the taste of it. I can't find it here where I live in Colorado I've seen it online for $149 a bottle that's too much
@@Jared40 Yeah unfortunately I don't see it where I'm at in Delaware(or PA and NJ) for that. Agreed $149 is too much for it.
Thanks for the video. I really like the bar pour price compare. In AL secondary on 107 is 150-200. 😢
Bourbon bar in my city in Ohio had WLW for $8 a pour. I drank 3 doubles. Some employee had to have been fired.
I also purchased a weller 107 store pick for $26 a couple years ago. Probably the best deal in whiskey I've ever bought.
Very different perspectives on Special Reserve and A107 vs. your video last year comparing Weller and Pappy products?
What drove the big change given SR was rated a D (Sean: "I wouldn't pay over $30-40) and A107 being rated a B there?
I remember buying a bottle of George T. Staff when I was in college, a mere 14 years ago, for like 70, maybe 90 dollars for a special occasion. A birthday gift for myself or something, at a liquor store that was not known for being cheap. It was just that available and that well-priced at the time. I remember talking with the owner of the shop about tasting notes - coconut, Brazil nut, etc and I also remember that it was almost 140 proof. That was my hay day.
A-107 is 100% worth the price for a pour and bottle! I work at a whiskey bar in Idaho and we're charging $20 a pour. A bottle of A-107 is $60... what's more to say.
Gonna be out around Saginaw/Midland area this weekend, are there any good places to get some great store picks?
Growing up in Kentucky. I remember walking into Krogers into the Liquor side and reaching down getting Wellers half gallons for $20 bucks or so. Wellers was bottom shelf and that wasn’t that long ago either. It is good stuff now you can’t get it!
Dan is growing up before our eyes........I need a moment!
Great stuff guys, but black glens, please 🥃👊
lol the color. WLW 2017 is the best I've ever had, with HH17 being 2nd, and probably 4 grain at 3rd.
Nice!
Weller SR 80.00
Weller 107 200.00
WLW 4,000.00
I can't find a bottle of Weller without going to the secondary market. I'm not paying $60 for the green bottle. I'll find it eventually. Love his reaction to WLW. Pretty obvious which that is just by the color.
I wonder which ones the wLw? Oh maybe the one with literally red juice in it…thanks for the look Sean!
My total wine has Special Reserve once a year around December. Usually runs $30
I have to say, being able to get SR for under 30 and 107 for 50 on the regular in OH make up for most of the other stuff we don't see.
Strangest thing I have ever seen was the store I stop at most every week got 50, yes 50 cases of 107 in one order last Feb. They didn't know if it was a mistake or the allotment for the region, but they sold it all in 3-4 days. Actually held two cases for some one from IL.
Keep up the good work!
I never see Antique in Dayton. Special Reserve occasionally.
I could make a living off of selling 107 on secondary with that price of $50 geesh. Easily goes for $150 in many of my fb groups.
@Austin Strobel that's the problem. At this point, lines are 20-30 deep.at open for that very reason.
Recently got two bottles of Special Reserve for $50 total. Easily one of the best purchases I've made recently.
I have a bottle of Larceny. It tastes like fresh cut grass. I would drink anything from either of my bottles of Makers Mark, or Makers Mark 46. I don't know if it's just me, or I have a bad bottle.
I had WLW @ $60 for a 1.5oz pour, so worth! It was a special night too...
Every time I have found SR, it has been in the 20s. I always feel like that's as good of a buy as anything.
Just found a wlw at retail this weekend. I think I'm going to try at a bar and keep mine unopened.
15 seconds in, the middle glass is clearly very different!!!
As I kick myself for passing on a $50 1oz pour just last week!! 😵
the funniest episode ever lmao. i was wondering how long you fellas was gonna pull your own legs. 😂😂😂😂
Like the stories of the "old days".
LOL to easy pour, color gives it away… beautiful set up!
Can you find any Weller in Michigan? I've never seen it on the west side.
Love this. I too now believe WLW to be my favorite I’ve had. Had a couple very solid pours at Butchers Union in Grand Rapids for $27/pour. And I mean solid pours. Love that place. ❤
Here I’ve only ever seen them priced on the shelf at the following: Special Reserve is $80-100; Antique 107 is $150-250; and WLW is $1,800-2,000. Pure Bananaland out there.
9:28 - excellent point, Sean. Is one high end (hard to find, allocated, blah blah blah) bottle worth 20 bottles of the mid to bottom shelf?
I mean if it was 1 bottle of WLW at 500 or 1 bottle of 107 at 60 I'm going for the WLW
@@BourbonJunkies Absolutely, but 1 bottle vs 40 bottles is an entirely differently conversation. I know you love OF Birthday, but I wouldn't trade 40 bottles of Prohibition for 1 bottle of Birthday - just saying.
Massachusetts Weller SR is more 100 to have seen a lot of places at 200 - 225 - yes... WSR priced higher than Magnus Cigar. OWA is findable at around 150 to as high as 250. It is hard to find WSR on shelves at anything below 75 - 80. Same time - EHT SmB tends to also be 150 plus - the WLW last place I saw was 2k. You guys are so lucky to have such a cheap secondary. The gouger stores in my area have WLW 2200 - 2400. I will stick with my JM CB
I like cigar blend way more than i like btacs and weller anyway, i think youre doing just fine.
I love special reserve. Always buy a bottle when I find one.
Coronado hotel in California charges $450/pour for WLW. I DID NOT partake!
When I have an open bottle of WLW, I'm perfectly happy just drinking that all night. All other Whiskeys I tend to take a pour and then switch to something else because I can.
Shirt is FIRE!
I wish I could find Antique 107 for $80-$100. I can find SR at MSRP but anything Weller beyond that is $150+ where I live.
I used to buy SR at total wine for $17 and the 107 for $19. Those were the days.
If I ever see a WLW pour anywhere for $50-$60, I will absolutely pay that just to experience it cause I’ve only seen WLW on secondary markets for over two grand around me. I’ve had a pour of Weller Full Proof at $30 and that was good and I want to try Antique 107. May have to make a weekend trip to Ohio.
That's a tee shirt... "The best part of being really stupid is you get to constantly and incrementally become better" - Dan "Gandhi" Shook
Weller green label is a great mixer. 107 is a daily drinker and WLW is a special occasion pour(not worth more then 150.00)
I'm not sure I've ever laughed during a video as much as this one. Dan was in rare form. Anyway, there's only one store in my city that regularly has Special Reserve. Literally can never find 107 or FP anywhere else. If I didn't have a spare bottle of SR I'd pay the $50 the one store overcharges for it. It's solid.
Don't feel bad. I pay that regularly. It's good and I want it. People pay way more for wine
Boiz, love the idea here - needed to add full proof in slot D….. we need a mulligan
We only have a store pick unfortunately
Let's move on to glass B. BOOM, Dan leaves the planet. Blind over.
This was a fun episode.
Seems like I am in the minority. I think Weller SR is a drain pour. I can find them in Georgia for 27.99 and that is an immediate pass. I would rather have Larceny store picks for 22.99. Weller 107 is a pass for me because I can usually always find Larceny BP for 55 to 60 which are much better and higher proof and being from Georgia ASW Georgia Heartwoods which are wheated MGP double oaked and finished with staves destroy 107 and full proof. Now WLW is one of the best bourbons I have ever had but would in no way pay anywhere close to secondary. 50 bucks at a bar is a great pour.
Nah i completely agree. I dont think ill buy another weller, even at msrp unless its one i havent tried.
You guys have to do a top 5 blind of your top whiskeys in the hut
Not when the entire BTAC collection is selling at Fry's for retail. Granted it's a lottery drawing but they aren't gouging.
New WLW? No way. Old WLW? Absolutely! My '09 WLW should be worth way more than any of the newer ones.
I have tasted WLW, but couldn't justify paying secondary for it. Out of the rest of the line, I actually think 107 is the best, including FP and 12.
Got the SR in Ohio the other day for $23.99😉🥃
Hera was Zeus's immortal wife. Zeus mated with Alcmene (a mortal) together they had Hercules. He was originally named Heracles, but once he lost his mortal life he became Hercules.
Do you still have your pappy 15? do WLW vs pappy 15
Bar pour of WLW is $75 around Chicago currently.
🟡🟤🟡 .... the "blind" tasting 😂
Would've loved some WFP in this blind so we can really see where the drop off point is
Great subject for us novices. Well done fellas.
Er, guess which one is the WLW? Maybe the one that is 5 shades darker than the other two. Need the gold glens
Had WLW recently at a bar in Paso Robles CA. $80 for the pour.
I get the 1.75 sr for $35 here in TX
colored glens may have been a good idea haha
