Zeus and Hera didn’t have Hercules. Hercules was a demigod, which mean one parent was a god and the other was a mortal. Hercules’ father was Zeus and his mother was Alcmene. Who happened to be the granddaughter of another demigod, Perseus.
The colored glens might have been a good idea for this one 😂 Also, if you still have any king of Kentucky; y’all should blind WLW against it and see which comes out on top.
Found a 2019 WLW in a bar recently. $35/oz. (Canadian dollars too). We were drinking doubles. A wonderful experience. 107 was $25. Full proof $18 and 12 year $14. Made more sense to drink the WLW.
The Dan who is worried about Sean hurting his hand is the same Dan who was waving around a sword like William Wallace fighting the English the other night.
I got a bottle of George T. Stagg for MSPR ($99) totally worth it :) Of course I waited in line, in 30 degree weather for 13 hours to get it. Again, Worth it!
I love Antique 107. I just opened another bottle last night and it’s just brilliant. I have not had the pleasure of sampling WLW yet, but there’s a bbq joint 10 minutes away that pours it. I foresee a journey there soon. SR is obviously not as good, but I still think it’s a good everyday supper. I don’t mind it.
I always get a laugh out of your guys pricing. So Cal, try base weller for 70, 107proof is 130 and WLW is 2K. I really need to go hunting in smaller states cuz it's too expensive here. If I'm in a bar, I would pay up to 100 for a taste of any BTAC or older Pappy. The one time I had Pappy 10, it cost me 50. I wouldn't pay that again now that I've had it, but I would put down good money to try the rare unicorn bottles.
Paid $50 to try Eagle Rare 17, because it's the only BTAC I've been in the room with. Last ounce so it was a risky purchase, but I did get to keep the bottle...
I did too months back I love the smell and the taste of it. I can't find it here where I live in Colorado I've seen it online for $149 a bottle that's too much
That talk at the end about the old weller bottles, that brought me back. Like 2010-2012 timeframe. Used to go into pretty much any liquor store and find either Weller Antique or Weller 12 for under $30. Those old bottles were ugly as hell though, I agree lol.
"I didn't know of anything i could crush a half bottle of". I can personally tell you that Calumet 16 black rack is one of those for me. Cuz i did it. Recently. And btw, weller SR, in an oak bottle for 2 months is devine. Done it for a more than one.
You guys, are brilliant, for me, you both are a reference when I need a consistent review, despite sometimes (very few) I disagree, I acknowledge your expertise... but, how easy you both are disperse, distracted; it's very rare when one of you finish a whole sentence and the other don't disrupt to say something, not only different, but also out of context; norms of good speaker and good listener are strictly necessary when you have an audience (subscriptions); it is so frequent when you both miss and forget the point. Cheers! 👍
@@jdickinson1977 I guess it depends on the store and when they do their allocated drops. I walked into a store this past Saturday and got a 107 at 2:30. I believe they still had some left today too.
I remember buying a bottle of George T. Staff when I was in college, a mere 14 years ago, for like 70, maybe 90 dollars for a special occasion. A birthday gift for myself or something, at a liquor store that was not known for being cheap. It was just that available and that well-priced at the time. I remember talking with the owner of the shop about tasting notes - coconut, Brazil nut, etc and I also remember that it was almost 140 proof. That was my hay day.
I have only been able to find Weller SR(54) is the best I have seen. W107 the last time I saw it was (299) and WLW goes for 2,999+ and will never pay that price. WSR is starting to climb to 80 and I’m not happy about that
I would rather get a bottle of Larceny Barrel Proof or a MM private reserve. Easier, cheaper. I have a bottle of Weller 12 which I love, but paid toooo much for.
I spent a week in Cleveland in December. Each evening, I would go in search of bourbon. It was the most depressing bourbon hunt I've done. Gas stations in MI have better bourbon selections than I found anywhere in the Solon area. The only bright spot was finding a Middle West Dark Pumpernickel. I've heard all the stories of Weller sitting on shelves in OH. Couldn't prove it by me.
How d'ya think we poor bastards who live here feel! Lol. Best I can tell from the Ohio Liquor website, all the good stuff is out in the west end of the state for some reason.
Guys! Thank you so much for this video. For one I have been that person at a bar but it was 2020 GTS in 2021. 35 for an ounce and a half. Second, I have been debating on buying that bottom tear bottle and now I think I will
I can't find a bottle of Weller without going to the secondary market. I'm not paying $60 for the green bottle. I'll find it eventually. Love his reaction to WLW. Pretty obvious which that is just by the color.
I live in southern CA and either can't find Weller SR (or it's close to a $100/bottle). Went to my hometown in KS for a funeral last summer and on a whim went into a local liquor store. They had a whole shelf of Weller SR, $22/bottle, $20 if you bought a case. Crazy.
Growing up in Kentucky. I remember walking into Krogers into the Liquor side and reaching down getting Wellers half gallons for $20 bucks or so. Wellers was bottom shelf and that wasn’t that long ago either. It is good stuff now you can’t get it!
Great video guys! I have to admit for your ad in the video… I can’t get rid of my cloths because most of them are Into the AM already… AND I LOVE THEM!!
Love this. I too now believe WLW to be my favorite I’ve had. Had a couple very solid pours at Butchers Union in Grand Rapids for $27/pour. And I mean solid pours. Love that place. ❤
A-107 is 100% worth the price for a pour and bottle! I work at a whiskey bar in Idaho and we're charging $20 a pour. A bottle of A-107 is $60... what's more to say.
When I have an open bottle of WLW, I'm perfectly happy just drinking that all night. All other Whiskeys I tend to take a pour and then switch to something else because I can.
Here I’ve only ever seen them priced on the shelf at the following: Special Reserve is $80-100; Antique 107 is $150-250; and WLW is $1,800-2,000. Pure Bananaland out there.
I'm not sure I've ever laughed during a video as much as this one. Dan was in rare form. Anyway, there's only one store in my city that regularly has Special Reserve. Literally can never find 107 or FP anywhere else. If I didn't have a spare bottle of SR I'd pay the $50 the one store overcharges for it. It's solid.
I have a bottle of Larceny. It tastes like fresh cut grass. I would drink anything from either of my bottles of Makers Mark, or Makers Mark 46. I don't know if it's just me, or I have a bad bottle.
I have to say, being able to get SR for under 30 and 107 for 50 on the regular in OH make up for most of the other stuff we don't see. Very different perspectives on Special Reserve and A107 vs. your video last year comparing Weller and Pappy products? What drove the big change given SR was rated a D (Sean: "I wouldn't pay over $30-40) and A107 being rated a B there?
Massachusetts Weller SR is more 100 to have seen a lot of places at 200 - 225 - yes... WSR priced higher than Magnus Cigar. OWA is findable at around 150 to as high as 250. It is hard to find WSR on shelves at anything below 75 - 80. Same time - EHT SmB tends to also be 150 plus - the WLW last place I saw was 2k. You guys are so lucky to have such a cheap secondary. The gouger stores in my area have WLW 2200 - 2400. I will stick with my JM CB
If I ever see a WLW pour anywhere for $50-$60, I will absolutely pay that just to experience it cause I’ve only seen WLW on secondary markets for over two grand around me. I’ve had a pour of Weller Full Proof at $30 and that was good and I want to try Antique 107. May have to make a weekend trip to Ohio.
Lol. Guys, as soon as I saw the glasses, the one in the middle was like a cup of coffee between two glasses of apple juice. I'm in Michigan, and I'd have a better chance of spotting a unicorn than a bottle of Weller. Jealous.

Seems like I am in the minority. I think Weller SR is a drain pour. I can find them in Georgia for 27.99 and that is an immediate pass. I would rather have Larceny store picks for 22.99. Weller 107 is a pass for me because I can usually always find Larceny BP for 55 to 60 which are much better and higher proof and being from Georgia ASW Georgia Heartwoods which are wheated MGP double oaked and finished with staves destroy 107 and full proof. Now WLW is one of the best bourbons I have ever had but would in no way pay anywhere close to secondary. 50 bucks at a bar is a great pour.

I got a double pour of weller antique 107 for $13 last night in Phoenix Arizona. I gave a great tip and the juice was very good.
