This is a year old video and it may have already been suggested in other comments, but y'all should do a series of blinds with each of the BT bottles and the bottles you selected as alternatives to the respective BT products. i.e. Antique 107, vs Baker's 7, MM 101, plus a suggestion from Trent for each of the BT products. I think the results would make an interesting video.

I'd also like to see if they would choose Green River Wheated for one of the replacements. I really enjoy it.

I echo everyone else's comments. I'm really enjoying this series. It also brings to light bourbon's I've never bought because I was unsure the quality. I don't have the room to store a number of bottles, so i only have a few at a time and don't buy another until something is gone and makes room. Because of this, I'm leery to try something that I don't know about. But I now have a growing list of ones to keep an eye out for.

I went to my local state liquor store here in Ohio yesterday morning... scored two bottles of Buffalo Trace and a bottle of Weller Antique. went back later in the day for some "milk"... stopped in again, and scored two more BT bottles and a big bottle of Weller Special Reserve that they found in the back. WiN!

In the DFW/North Texas area, I occasionally see Buffalo Trace available but haven't found Weller Special Reserve, Blanton's, E.H. Taylor, Stagg etc. for about 2 years. While traveling last week up to Ohio, my wife and I stopped at the Buffalo Trace Distillery for a tour. We got there 1.5 hours before the tour started. We immediately went to the gift shop and I was able to purchase a bottle of Buffalo Trace and E.H. Taylor. Around 11am the gift shop sold out of E.H. Taylor and began stocking Weller Special Reserve so I purchased a bottle. The distillery gift shop usually has Buffalo Trace available everyday and at least 1 allocated bourbon as well. There's no set pattern/schedule as to how they stock the shelfs and at what time they stock them. The allocated bourbon sells out pretty fast so being there before 11am will help your chances. To buy from the gift shop you have to be registered for a tour that day and you can only buy 1 bottle of each every 90 days. For people who take a tour, the distillery does hold back some of the allocated bourbon that was available that day and offers it after the tasting if you haven't already purchased it. However, I've heard going that route is not always a guarantee. In December, the distillery gift shop has pretty regularly had Eagle Rare, Weller Special Reserve, E.H. Taylor and Blanton's available on a daily rotating basis. There's a website that lists daily what was available at the gift shop and provides odds for next days availability (buffalotracedaily.com). If you want to score some of their allocated bourbons and see grown men run around like kids. Then, I highly recommend visiting the distillery and taking a tour. Be sure to take your spouse, family and friends. Especially if they're non drinkers. That way you can have them purchase extra bottles for you. A week after my visit, I regret not having my wife purchase bottles of what was available the day we visited. Who knows how long it will be before I find the allocated bourbons in my local stores. Just a side note. The Buffalo Trace Distillery completed building a new 40' x 84" copper column still that will double their capacity. That still is scheduled to go online by the end of December. Also, they are currently building numerous rickhouses. Each new rickhouse is the size of a football field and can hold up to 58,000 barrels. This is good news for bourbon lovers. The only down side is the wait.

Agree 100% on the 1792 Full Proof! I've never had WFP and the cheapest I can get it is $300-ish. I'm about at the point where paying markup feels more guilty than pleasure. I was recommended 1792FP and I have been a happy person. It's the first bottle in my whiskey hunting life that I've purchased a few backups.

GREAT choices Kurt & Trent. My all-time favorite is the Antique 107 !!!! It is outstanding, BUT (always a BUT) secondary market by me in crumby New Jersey is in the 200 range always. for the special reserve 80's. Hate the feeling of getting ripped off !!! Another alternative is the 1792 Single Barrel it's a little lower proof and great tasting !!! LOVE THE SHOW GUYS

I saw that episode of Yellowstone. They had Wheller 12 in the limo and they also name dropped Buffalo Trace several times which I thought was interesting because they drank Bulleit almost exclusively in the first few seasons.
In the last couple episodes they have been on a Crown Royal kick. Of course, there is a lot of Titos placement too.

Rebel 10 year single barrel is a guaranteed weller replacement. Stands up to par with the weller 107 and if you’re lucky, you can find some bottles with age statements around 11-12 years to match that weller 12 year. It $90-$100 in my area so it’s a little pricey but still much cheaper than secondary weller prices.

In this case the alternatives are a lot easier to find in several cases, the only Weller commonly found around here is Weller Special Reserve for $42.50 CDN, Larceny is reasonably common but $52CDN. Of the others the Full Proof shows up briefly from time to time but I have never seen either the Antique 107 or the 12 although talking to a fellow bourbon collector he has seen the Antique around from time to time, no idea of the pricing though for either.
Of the replacements for the Antique 107 we have Bakers and Makers Mark 101 both at $85CDN, for the Wellers 12 the only one we have is Knob Creek 12 at $130CDN and for the Wellers Full Proof we occasionally get the 1792 Full Proof but not sure of the price (it never lasts long).

Hey Kurt, great list. (may want to look into adaptive noise cancellation or something similar to that) Your content is great, but speaking as someone who used to get TONS of comments on my audio, people are going to click away from this one because of the buzzing in the background. (It also may be your mic input setting on your camera)

Thanks for the input! We did look into this and found out it was the fridge running! This is our bar in the basement of our home so we do have a fridge, freezer, furnace, water softener that all make noise at times. Now we turn off the furnace and unplug the appliances while filming lol!
      Good luck to you!

Yeah Weller is going to be like gold for the next 10 years. I live in a big city with some big store chains, you won't find Weller in any of them. After Yellowstone it may be impossible to find in any store anywhere in the country.
My understanding is that Weller, Stagg, Pappy are all wheated bourbons, and these are the labels that are in the most demand nationwide. I've always wondered why no other brand has jumped in and tried to create their own wheated offerings. Larceny and Makers are some of the exceptions but they've been doing their thing for a long time.

Old Elk double wheat is pretty similar to the 107!

I have not sampled Weller yet, but I have tried a number of the alternatives. While good, I wouldn't chase any of the alts for a couple hundred a bottle. Maybe that keeps me from overreaching in the future.

Love these alternatives videos … MM 101 is under the radar, and WT is starting to fly off the shelves in my area, no longer under the radar.

Just saw a bottle of Weller 12 a week ago. Price tag was $249.99. I just laughed and walked away.

Good choices! I love me some Wilderness Trail Wheated, but Larceny? I wanted to love it but find it lackluster. Makers 46 is way better IMO. Any Weller is hard to find, although my local Liquor Barn did have some 107 and SR one lucky day a few weeks ago (also some Blantons and Eagle Rare but limit one choice out of all). I've never seen a 12 or FP in the wild.

Great video, I was thinking Makers 46 cask strength for the full proof before I saw you pull out the makers

Hard to replace Weller FP. 300 for store picks. I found a bar in Chicago that doesn’t advertise their pick, and it absolutely delicious.

I would like to offer a 3rd for Weller green, and Fullproof. For the green label alternative, try Woodford Wheated, for Fullproof, if you're going for the cask strength MM, try the Wood Finished Series. It's almost the same proof as Cask Strength and has better flavors. As far as I can tell, they do 2 versions of the MM WFS every year. FAE-01 and FAE-02 (my favorite) from last year and BRT-01 and BRT-02 from this year. I haven't tried the BRT's yet but I just got 2 of them.
That Knob Creek 12 is damn good if you find it.

Try a TX bourbon, regular or barrel proof. It will not give you the same experience as an older bourbon, but I think it’s flavor pathways definitely will entice you.

I got a bottle of Old elk wheated bourbon a few days ago.
I think it was around $58 where I’m at in the North East.
    Sweet and smooth.
    Pretty good.
    Is it worth $58???
    🤷‍♂️
It is if you enjoy it.👍🥃😊

Great show guys.I like that you think Makers Mark series compares. I've seen the cask strength in my area but I don't believe I've ever seen 101.
