4 years ago I was visiting my son in Chicago and saw WLW on the shelf of a bar we went to. I asked how much for a pour and he told me . . . . $18 - best pour I have EVER had1
At $18 a pour, I’d be very tempted to have the bartender pour out all the shots he could at once, and then have him leave the bottle and then I would cash out and pour each the shots back in the bottle and walk out with my own bottle of WLW. 🤗
I got to try all the 2022 BTAC over the weekend. All were great but for me it went 5. Eagle Rare 17, 4. Thomas H Handy, 3. Sazerac 18, 2. George T Stagg, 1. William Larue Weller. 1 and 2 were so very close.
I got to crack a 2016 when I brought my son home from the hospital a couple of years ago. It was like seeing God for the first time. I’ve since tried every release from 2017-2021 and they’re some of, if not the most, incredible whiskeys on the planet. I don’t know how they (Buffalo Trace) does it every year.
This past weekend, we celebrated Christmas with my in-laws. since I had Covid during Christmas. Was supposed to crack open my Lot B and Pappy 15 during Christmas. This past Saturday, I scored my first BTAC bottle - Thomas H Handy! We tasted all 3. Cheers!
I was at a speakeasy styled bar on my honeymoon back in 2020. They had WLW. I asked how much. He said $50. It’s the honeymoon, we’re going for it. He came to me with a solid two finger pour of God’s Nectar. Must’ve been at least 3oz. To this day it’s one of the best whiskies I’ve ever had.
I was very fortunate to taste all BTAC 2022 along with our tasting experts and professional sommeliers. Our ranking was: 1. George T. Stagg 2. William Larue Weller 3. Thomas H. Handy 4. Eagle Rare 17 5. Sazerac Rye 18 Notes: #1 and 2 were close. Most of our members thought even though 2022 William Larue Weller was excellent, they had much better WLW in the past, and 2022 WLW did not reach its potential WLW greatness. However, we felt that 2022 George T. Stagg was one of the best in a few years. Also, this year of Thomas H. Handy was quite exceptional.
I recently had the privilege of trying the WLW, Stagg, Family Reserve Rye, Pappy 15, and Pappy 20. The William Larue Weller was by far the best. I thought the Family Reserve Rye was amazing…until I just had the Thomas H. Handy…which was the best Rye I’ve ever had! WLW and Handy are the champs if you enjoy high proof whiskey. I don’t have any references from other years…but these 2022 juices are tremendous!
We paid just shy of $40 for the WLW and $27 for the Thomas Handy. 2 oz pours from a couple of well kept secrets in Colorado. Just adding that so folks can gauge what they are willing to pay. We are lucky working class stiffs. No Besos or Zuckerbergs in our families. If you paid twice that you still wouldn’t be disappointed with either. I’ve spent $50-$100 on some good juice before. Places like the Stanley Hotel and the Heaven Hill Distillery bar, and these two beat all of those. Hands down. It’s not close. If you love whiskey but you belong to the fraternity of people who cannot afford $1000+ for a bottle of your own…spring for a pour. It’s worth knowing. You deserve it. Happy New Year folks!
Congrats on setting yourselves up for disappointment the rest of the year when you think back to this. Well worth it. Love what you guys do. Keep it up!
I just had this last week in a bar. 35 for a 1.5 ounce poor. After I tasted it, I thought I was stealing. Best whiskey I’ve had in my life. I’m 50 years old.
I actually just got a 2oz pour of WLW in Manhattan of all places for $60, and because it was my first and possibly last time to ever try it, I nursed that glencairn for over an hour.
At the beginning of November we were able to try a WLW 2019 for less than $100. Such a fun experience but I did not have the finish Dan just did. Cheers 🥂
Interesting… this is the first bottle of WLW I have ever owned and I insta-traded it for the 2020. I’m happy with the decision. I had this at a bar and it is exactly like you describe beautiful cherry and strawberry with a dusting of powdered sugar. Oily palate and long finish. High proof, but so refined you don’t notice it. The 2020 has a few more of the dark flavors that I prefer. But the 2022 is outstanding in its own right.
I just opened my bottle of 2013 WLW about 3 months ago. Uh-may-zing. Inherited it from my father in law. We should trade samples… The editing this week is ON POINT. Well done.
WLW is the best bourbon I have ever tasted... and I've probably tried 200+ different bourbons (no scotch). It is by far the best bourbon, my love, my unicorn, and something I will never be able to afford to own. :)
Last year, a bar near us got a bottle. In general, it seems like their rule is about 3x bottle price by the oz, give or take. We live in a control state, so that worked out to $14/oz. Needless to say, 5 of us crushed the bottle
Won the lotto drawing at a local store and had the chance for WLW, went with GTS instead. Don’t know if I made the right choice now, lol. The GTS is absolutely amazing though.
We just had the 2022 Old Forester Birthday Bourbon two days ago, and it disappointed. Maybe it’s because I had the BTAC stuff already. Still itching for a taste of that Eagle Rare 17 though. Can’t find that one. William Larue Weller and Thomas H. Handy are seriously 1A and 1B, depending on whether you like bourbon or rye more. The Handy is that good. I love Rye whiskey. Just ordered the Barrell Proof Emerald Giant too. Mostly because I can’t afford the Handy! 🤭
Well boys, just had the 2022 WLW in the same night as a coy hill. Must day, WLW blew coy hill out of the water... top2 whiskeys I've ever had in muh life. And I'm well aware this comment is 2 years late. Don't care. Must say what I had to say.
My local pusherman’s allocation this year finally was a WLW. Did he want secondary prices for it; yes. Did I negotiate with him; yes. Did he budge any; kinda. Did I buy it; yes. Do I regret it; no.
similar story to allenhorne...I was in southern Illinois -- Effingham -- last month. I've never been in that part of the world, but people kept recommending a restaurant called FireFly. Needless to say the food was quite good, AND they had the entire BTAC line and Pappy line for $24 a pour. I didn't order the Pappy bc I had just had some Pappy 12 after a buddy opened a bottle after a hole in one. I didn't love it either. Anyhow, i had one Stagg Sr and then turned to the WLW. The Stagg was good not great. The WLW was so delicious. I had 2 pours, and made me believe the hype! It delivered biggly! Now, I wish I had the sense to ask about buying a bottle/bottles directly from them.
I have reallllllly been hoping to see this type of review for it. Early reactions seemed like it was good, but not quite like previous years. Then out of the blue Minnick blinds it as #1. I've dreamed of trying a sip of WLW for years and got incredibly lucky this year to purchase a bottle for msrp. Excited that ya'll hold it to such high esteem and can't wait to try it myself!
I found a store that had all of the btac line but I only asked about the George T Stagg, he wanted 1500 so I walked out. I guess that's why he has all of them
My brother got a bottle of LaRue last year around Christmas. I didn't really understand the love of bourbon until I tried that. Now I understand.
Dan finally takes his first sip at 6:26. Felt like it took 2hrs
4 years ago I was visiting my son in Chicago and saw WLW on the shelf of a bar we went to. I asked how much for a pour and he told me . . . . $18 - best pour I have EVER had1
$18? Jeez you made out like a bandit. That’s like a knob creek 9 yr pour here.
At that point I'm like, 'Calculate how much that is for the bottle and wrap it to go.'
…damn… just…. Damn…. BS?
@@Ethernet480 Prob was knob..

Sazerac 18 better than Handy this year huh? Nice!

Dan celebrating the Miami Dolphins' first playoff appearance in six years with the teal and orange?
Pretty amazing that you guys are into Milk Bar and Tosi as well as bourbon. Thanks for the review of this special bottle.
Sean’s excitement when he said “AND METH” cracked my shit up😂😂
This past weekend, we celebrated Christmas with my in-laws. since I had Covid during Christmas. Was supposed to crack open my Lot B and Pappy 15 during Christmas. This past Saturday, I scored my first BTAC bottle - Thomas H Handy! We tasted all 3. Cheers!

@@BourbonJunkies Happy New Year!
Same here, scored my first BTAC over the holidays and it was the Handy! Absolutely loved it. How did you like yours?
@@TheKo88 I enjoyed all 3! Pappy 15 was the favorite among the 4 of us.
Just had my first taste of this on Sunday, and my reaction was the same!!! Thank you boys!
Makes me even more happy that I won one this year! My first WLW as well.
seeing your profile picture, did you win it in the alabama lottery?
I found the 22 WLW in a bar for 7.50/oz. I should have drank the whole bottle.
“That’s one of the best finishes I’ve ever had…” 😂😂😆😭😄
Best joke ever: What is the difference between Lady Godiva and finding a lost golf ball? Finding a lost golf ball is a hunt on a course.

And that good sir is the stuff you'll always remember. Glad that bartender hooked you up!
I spent 50$ for a 2oz pour while working in Tx in 2021 and it was the best thing I've ever had.
I was very fortunate to taste all BTAC 2022 along with our tasting experts and professional sommeliers. Our ranking was: 1. George T. Stagg 2. William Larue Weller 3. Thomas H. Handy 4. Eagle Rare 17 5. Sazerac Rye 18

Should say bourbon lords because yall sipping the good stuff never seen out in the wild juice. Amazing how people get there hands in it

Bottle flip the WLW!! .... also I agree it has a multi layered palate which I've never really experienced before wlw!
the price on secondary just doubled after this review..:) , I loved the humor of "The more you know" and
"reconnecting"

After Dan‘s clear bias towards the OFBB this year it was refreshing to hear him semi-acknowledge how it’s not that amazing haha
I actually just got a 2oz pour of WLW in Manhattan of all places for $60, and because it was my first and possibly last time to ever try it, I nursed that glencairn for over an hour.
Wooooorth!
@@BourbonJunkiesIs 2022 WLW worth $650?
A buddy of mine gave me a bottle of 2019 WLW with about 3ozs left in it, about a yr ago. I killed that immediately and enjoyed the hell out of it
BEST WlW 2019
At the beginning of November we were able to try a WLW 2019 for less than $100. Such a fun experience but I did not have the finish Dan just did. Cheers 🥂
I make the same noise every time I open an Eagle Rare

I got a call on Saturday that I had a chance to buy a highly allocated bottle at retail and I end up with a WLW 22, can’t wait to cracked it open
Had a pour of WLW at a Whiskey Cake earlier this year. Still remember the experience. Congratulations on the bottle! Enjoy!
I just opened my bottle of 2013 WLW about 3 months ago. Uh-may-zing. Inherited it from my father in law. We should trade samples…

It's nice to see a couple get along so well 'at work'. Sometimes it's hard to live and work with someone.
Ive heard Nick will hand over allocated bottles for ZJs behind a dumpster in a parking lot.
Jokes aside, good thing we have a Great friend like Nick

Dont say never man. You dont know
@@LeatherDaddy97 thanks
I found a bottle of this 4th July 23 weekend. I'm still debating on if I want to open it.
I saw that in the background last week and thought "no way that's theirs." Pumped y'all finally got one!
You guys and Minnick just added $1k to the secondary of the market for this. New cost?
First born child.
Lol id pay up to 150 for one, since i dont have one.
GO DIVA!!!! hahahahahaha You won the internet today Dan.
Holy shit, the editing in of "The More You Know" made me snort-laugh!!
Congrats on 100k subcribers 🎆 🎇 🎆 🎇
Ive only had 2017 WLW like 3 times 60 for 1.5oz was excellent and worth it
Everyone now loves Nick Jones.
Saw a bottle for sale the other day in NYC. Guy told me it could be mine for the low low price of $2400 USD. He still has it on his shelf.
Worth it if you're rich. I am about to pickup two here soon and a GTS.
I’m hoping you guys get a bottle of JD Twice Barreled. Would love a review on it
I’m gonna guess that Dan doesn’t know what a Diva Cup is

You are one of the fortunate ones sir. 😂
@Jeff Frumess meh. More than I’ve ever spent for a bottle of bourbon. Also less than I’ve ever seen a bottle of WLW for.
@Jeff Frumess I’m trying not to sound like a douche on the internets. More than msrp, less than my truck.
It’s magical! Worth every bit of hype. Sounds consistent to my 2019 release.
2019 A+

The “the more you know” killed me 😂

Literally might be my favorite review ever, I love you guys. 😂😂
As a wheat head, this is a holy grail pour. Stay thirsty, friends.
My favorite bourbon. I have like 40% of it left. I’m going to need to figure out a way to get another in the next couple years before it’s gone lol
Have ER17. Will travel.
Guy in front of me in line took the last bottle of WLW this year. Next day he sold it on Facebook. I ended up with a KoK so I can’t complain… much
What a great, generous gift. Drink it slow - It's like $2,300 on Caskers.
So excited for you guys! Just to see you guys open it makes me so happy! Lol 🤣
Glad you boys were able to get this and it is a cool video. You should blind it with Rare Breed and ECBP and GTS to help inform us poor folks=
You guys are too funny, much love lol Glad to see your channel is doing so well. Cheers my dudes!
"That's one of the best finishes I've ever had"... Phrasing
Paid $48 1oz of 2021. No ragrets. Best bourbon I’ve ever had.
I live in the same town as you guys can I come try it lol
"The carpet is worth more than some of these bottles we own!"
Some carpets are pretty special😈
WLW always a good pour, but honestly, I’ve enjoyed the GTS more!!
Was hoping for a bottle flip.
I think I know a place in Norcal that has the full BTAC, at least it did last April, if you want to know...
My local whiskey bar has a 2019 WLW available for $55 for a 1oz pour. Might have to actually try it.
There's a mouth feel from WLW that I have never gotten from another whiskey. It's like a light syrup just PACKED with flavor.
Single rick baby!
The editing was just 🤌🏼 on this one boys
I grabbed a full pour of this on my bday for 70$ and wasn’t mad about it. Phenomenal.
None of my stores in Illinois have gotten any 2022 BTAC...where did it all get allocated to?
Bought a bottle in '15. Best bourbon ever
I have all 5
Gts and Wlw are top 2
Kind of a coin toss or preference on which you like better. They both 10's
Some day hopefully....Loved the review
Good video
WLW and GTS are the best bourbons, imo!

Will the WLW video push you over the 100k? Man, I’m salivating here. Cheers Junkies
Knowing how much you would pay for a 1 or 2 oz pour, if you saw it on secondary....what would you pay for it?
I'm not dropping over $500 for a bottle
Try it against the gts 2022 both are phenomenal I was very lucky to have gotten both this year at lottery’s
It's one of the best pours of bourbon out there. I can't wait to get one of my own
WLW is one of very few whiskeys that always live up to the hype.......
Idk if ive ever had a whiskey that lived up to hype.
I didn't see you toss/flip this one?!?!?!?!?
