Most underrated channel on RUclips by far
Ah, the exact thing I needed. Thank you. I had been scratching my head trying to get the camera to start recording, sorted now.
This is what I was looking for. I use my Canon FD lense already on my Fujifilm X-E1 and that works great. On my new second hand Sony A6000 it was hard to see if something is sharp. Now I know what to do, thank you very much!
I love how I have this specific question and BAMMM! There's a video for it! Thanks so much for making awesome educational/informative videos!
I am still saving up for this baby to use with my dad's old vintage lens, still a way to go but can't wait to get my hands on used one of these
You explained exactly how to reset my manual focus setting after my a6000 was returned from repairs. Whew, did Sony have to bury this function so far down into the depths of the menu choices? Thank you! My head almost exploded!
+Dorothy Fontana Hi Dorothy! Glad my video helped:).
Dorothy Fontana agreed! This was beyond helpful to me!
Omg thank you so much I just got this camera for my birthday and I was struggling with how to set it up your such a life saver
This video was very helpful as I it shows me what to do with my old Olympus lens and my a6000 thank you very much
+kenebenice2 I'm so glad the video helped:)
just awesome, i get a new way to use my alpha now cuz of you ! thank youuuuu :D
Good, solid, concise info. Thanks so much.
+bt10ant Thank you:)
U deserve the likes good sir
Thank you for all your videos - I have a a6000 and - since your channel - fell in love with vintage lenses! I have one question (which I guess is a bit obvious, but I will ask it nevertheless because someone out there might be much smarter and found a way to make it work): any chance I can use the sony mobile play app (= pushing the shutter with my iphone) while using a vintage lense or is that only possible with a modern lense (I know I wont be able to focus in the app, but at least releasing the shutter/taking a picture) would be fantastic... Thanks again and keep up the great work you do :-)
Very helpful video, thank you so much!
+Wayne Feng Glad it helped:)
this was exactly what we need. thnx.
Hello, first, thank you much for making this amazing tutorial. Do you know if there is a way to keep these settings saved, but also separate, from settings you need when using AF lenses? Basically, is there an a6000 option that lets you store these settings so you don't have to keep changing them every time you switch from e-mount lenses with AF to these vintage lenses?
Exelent tips on a 6000
Thank you very much. The input about the peaking color saved now my fotos (i had it on white and manual focus). Thanks again. Thumbs up.
+Runheli So glad my video helped:)
Wow! That was a quick video response. Thank you very much for sharing. I have a question. What is the "release without lens" for?
+lamarcy I've needed to do that video for a while, I hope it helped. These old manual lenses and dumb adapters do not send electronic info back to the camera, so enabling release w/o lens" gives the camera permission to release the shutter when there is no lens attached. Of course you'll have your Yashica attached, but your camera doesn't know that:)
+AdaptedAlpha Oh, I see. Thank you ;)
So question? I was trying a fd lens out today in video mode but the I could not get the shutter out of auto or basically it seemed to be disabled for adjusting. It would not let me manually adjust the shutter while in video mode. Could the reason be that release without lens wasn't enabled? Does that play a part when trying to adjust the shutter speed on a manual vintage lens? Or better question can you manually adjust the shutter speed in video mode with a vintage lens? Thanks
Thanks for your Video,it's helpful!!
+任蒙 Glad I could be helpful:)
Very helpful. Thanks!
+Stephen Bellingham Glad I could help:)
Great video, clear and concise and most important, informative and helpful. Good job!
Perfect advice! Subscribed!
Inspired by you I just got my a6000!! Would like a video with Canon EF lenses with auto focus adapter, fotga, comlite, fotasy and maybe K&F seem to be the cheap ones that do the job, neewer has one but tons of bad reviews, I'm looking into the fotga adapter
+LKFX Quality Media Let me know how it goes if you decide to pick one up:)

Thanks for the video! Do you know if its possible to manual focus WITHOUT it magnifying? Id prefer that it didn't zoom in but still give me the peaking level info.
+Kieren Taylor Hi there Kieran! Yes, the camera does not magnify by default, you actually need to set up a separate button to control that.
I appreciate the short (i.e.,
Thank you ! Much appreciated !!!!
Thank you for this!
+Jennifer Regnier Thank you for watching Jennifer:)
Is it possible to chose any aperture using the aperture ring on the lens or is it locked on the brightest stop? I mean, is it possible to shoot manually set 2.8 or f4 of f5.6 or the camera will.always read it as the brightest stop?
To the point is way to go pro 😊👍
Very helpful thank you
+Tom Beardsley you're welcome:)
Any plan on reviewing the sigma MC-11 on your a6000 ...thanks bro cool channel
+Corey Davis Hi there Corey! I'd like to start reviewing different types of adapters in the coming year, including some focal reducers. MC-11 is pretty expensive...
thank, its really helpfull
+Mega Lazuardi Glad my video helped:)
Thanks y s brther
If you use a Manual lens , it wil not be recognized by the the camera so the shutter button will not work.
Release without a lens enables the came to work with these lenses
+thefirstdutchguy thank you, very well stated:)
Hey there thanks for this video it was very helpful. One question though, can we use image as Fine or the mode as intelligent auto on manual lens? Any response would be greatly appreciated :)
+anuj bajracharya If you're using a manual lens you'll always need to set the aperture and focus yourself, regardless of shooting mode. You can set the camera to change ISO and shutter speed automatically. Hope that helps:)
thanks :)
Hi! If I use an adapter on my canon 50mm to the sony a6000, I understand auto focus would not function. However, will you still be able to change aperture?
+Jedd Cudia Hi Jedd! Are you adapting a Canon FD lens? Are there aperture controls on the lens exterior?
has the a5100 the same settings and features too? is it a good camera to buy? thanks!
+Made in ABRUZZO I've never shot with the a5100, but the menu system should be fairly similar. Here's a link comparing the two: cameradecision.com/compare/Sony-Alpha-a5100-vs-Sony-Alpha-a6000
I love man you saved my life lol
Hi, Thank you for your sharing! I have set my camera like the video but when I press C1 Button appear the message "invalid: lens not mounted". Do you have any advice? Thank you and excuse me for my bad english! I follow you! Ivan From Italy
+Ivan Boschi Hello Ivan! Were you able to figure out your C1 problem?
I get the same thing.
Just enable 'release without lens' (the first one in the video)
@@wefhy I haven't checked but one thing that helped overall with tutorials is updating the firmware. If you make future videos, it might help to state what firmware you are running - def. affects which menu items are available.
Can I use Aperture priority mode with a cheap adapter for Nikon AIS lens?
Is there a similar video for NEX-5?
Don’t you loose F-Stops when using Full Frame Lenses on Cop Sensor Bodies, even if they’re older Lenses?
thank you ...
Thanks
+krutzaan2102 You're welcome:)
Thank you
+Peter Alvarez You're welcome Peter:)
Thanks for sharing. Can you please let me know about image stabilization when using these 3rd party lenses?
+Harish Chouhan Sorry, there is no image stabilization when using adapted vintage lenses on the A6000:(
the a6000 body does not have stabilization
Why my camera SonyA6000 dont let me use another lends from other brands? (Manual lens)
When I use a lens adapter on my A6000, the “Focus Mode” is ghosted, and I can’t access it, it is locked in "Manual Focus". Is this normal?
Because when I select "Focus Mode", I get the following Message, (even though the lens is attached correctly), it says:
“!Lens
Invalid because lens not attached,
Attach the lens correctly.”
Am I missing something?
Am I doing something wrong?
Is this message normal?
Somewhere I read that with manual lenses, I need to tell the camera the focal length, but I didn’t find the location to enter that info!
Would appreciate your feedback, and thanks in advance.
Is MF Assist on?
DO adapted lenses on the a6000 give that dream-like ghosting like on the SLRS? Also, do I get a lot of glare coming into the camera?
+Alex Romero Hi Alex. A lot of the dream look and glare will depend on the lens you use.
did all of this but cannot focus peaking while using a adapted manual lens
can we see the focus peaking lines through the view finder ?
Yes
show us the ====sample or result===that u have achived by setting the functions
Can someone help please. I just purchased my A7R ii and am following the steps exactly as the video says and they are not setting? After I have set the camera as the video explains and I push the C2 button where I set it..I get a reading saying "This operation or setting not available as follows... Focus Mode Automatic AF" Doeas anyone know why I am getting this reading. Thanks
+Steve Owen Hi Steve, having trouble recreating your problem with the a6000:( Have you tried restoring back to factory settings? Also, you could check your mode dial (PASM) make sure you're shooting in a manual mode...good luck:)
I had the same issue with my A33 (waiting for my a6000 - delivery in 2 days!). Did you update your firmware? It might be the issue!
Steve Owen you have to switch it from af focus to " m" for manual focus
Los subtítulos son muy malos tapan la mitad del video .
+javier silva Thanks for the feedback.
So helpful. Thank you!
