For the record, the "weird dude in the front row" is Al Jardine from the Beach Boys, although he is probably the least individually famous member of the band.
Fun fact: Al Jardine was the only founding member of the Beach Boys who wasn't related to the rest of the band; Brian, Carl, and Dennis Wilson were all brothers, and Mike Love was their cousin, but Al Jardine was just a neighbor and classmate.

I thought it looked like Sean S. Cunningham. He was the original director, and creator of Friday the 13th series. Then I thought, "Wait. He's not nearly famous enough to be asked for that, and he has no musical abilities as far as I know". Google a pic of him, and you'll see what I mean. I'm glad someone had the answer though, because he did look like a random old dude.

This skit was in 2010. In 2010, or even now, Alan Jaradine was not more famous than the people he sang with (or the celebrities/singers portrayed in this parody). And he definitely isn't the most recognizable.
Here in 2024 I still haven’t forgiven SNL for that severe disrespect and it’s not like I’m a boomer. As an older millennial The Beach Boys had an incredibly prominent position in my formative years.
I don't know, after that 2020 remake of Imagine We Are the World 2 seems like true art

This has to be one the best cast of SNL since the Ferrell and Kattan era. Wiig, Samberg, Sudekis, Hader, and etc. all have had great success after SNL. SNL still has a few great cast members like Thompson and McKinnon. Tyson is good too.

Honestly I love the idea of bringing so many current generation singers together to sing in one song, but you risk making certain parts a mess depending on whose invited to sing. We are the word 2 had some really good parts and then they had some really questionable parts like the part left to all the autotune rappers who did what they did best and sang their hearts out over autotune.
Whereas you could name everyone in We are The World both in 1985 and 35 years later, good luck naming 3/4 of the no-names in 2010 and watching it now.
