@@dorian2112 They actually had a 302 Trans Am Tunnel Port for the Cougar and Mustang race teams . Extremely rare engine type .

No. In fact the Boss 302 was in response to the disastrous seasons of 67 and 68. The Ford racing division was looking for new heads for the 302 block and “borrowed” them from the 351 Cleveland program that started production in 1969. Hence, the birth of the Boss 302.
