I mean it sounds like you're being respectful about it and level-headed I think it has happened to all of us, 65 bucks just cut your losses. Sucks but if $65 is going to make or break someone then they might want to think about something else. I have lost out on a landscape job for $2500 when I was first starting. Lesson learned on my end now I get contracts and everything gets paid ahead before any work gets done kind of like ordering food You pay for it first and then you get your food

Bill him the amount plus 10% for the late fee. Put a bold note on it and tell him you will add 10% for each day it is late after you receive this notice. And let it run for a month at 10%, and then for the second month, he has not paid it goes up to 15%. If it gets to the point and you can I would put a lean against some type of property he has such as a vehicle, home, utility trailer, or whatever you can put a lean on it. That's my thought. I had an Asian customer on a job who wanted me to clean more and I told her I did not quote for that to be done, the quote you got was for the the front yard only. When I was completed she wanted to drag out things so I told her I would be charging her $100.00 a minute for every minute I waited for her to pay me and wasting my time. Well guess what I got paid and I left, but before I left I made sure she understood to never call me again for anything! Just my two cents worth.

I definitely would insisting upon being paid for the service. I understand the cultural differences but their are jerks in every culture. I've had to stay on top of lawncare clients that were slow payers with multiple texts and phone calls and knocks on their door until they finally paid. It's bothersome but they all eventually paid and I stayed professional throughout keeping my reputation intact. Good video.

I know that this has been resolved but I wanted to add my $0.02
NEVER offer a discounted price to a late/non paying client. This situation is why I urge all of us in the green industry to use a contract or, at least, an agreement. This will help the client to understand the specific services they are receiving and what is expected on their end (removing stuff from the lawn, dog waste, etc... Payment terms and methods, etc...). ALSO, I include with the payment terms an explanation of late fees. In almost thirty years, I've only been stiffed a couple of times.
Also, this doesn't work for ongoing maintenance but should be used for any installation projects, file an NTO (notice to owner) with your state or municipality before work begins. This is different from a lien. Not all states allow them but it's worth looking into as a small business owner.

Man that would really upset me! Not the $65 so much as the principal..
    You know me
I go on my emotions sometimes😅.
I have been known to call them and tell them i'm gonna take them to small claims court And tell them if they lose, they'll pay All the court cost you did the work They should be.
Willing to meet you in the middle.Maybe 40 or something like that.
Not paying nothing is totally unacceptable.
But then the unemotional side comes out and i say to myself "its only 65 bucks" Not worth the hassle.
But I have been known to go after people That dont pay me- no matter what the dollar amount is.
I would call him though for sure. I know deep down inside that burns you up when customers do that. I mean at the end of the day dude it's theft!
If a electrician came by or the plumber came by and they did work and then the man refused to pay them that's an arrestable offense they put you in jail for that. Depending on your city laws, some cities allow you request a lien on their property until fees are paid to courts and you. Done this multiple times. I also would have reached out to the customer and let him know there was some clippings and bagging is extra.
