This was a good review. I have a tulip but mostly Susan bates ergonomic. I heard a RUclips channel guy said he loved the prym. I tried one and did not! I wanted to they looked so pretty. I tried a couple different yarns. My issue was the yarn dragging and squeaking! So annoying. I find it interesting how passionate people can get about their hooks. 😂
So true! I’m guessing the squeaking has to do with the hook and yarn combo. I didn’t notice any while I used it with cotton, but I haven’t tried with other fibers yet. I think people want to find a hook that feels good to hold, and that slides like butter when they use it 😅
Oh, definitely! The neck of the hook is way too long for a pencil hold. It’s only saving grace (in my opinion) is that it works great for someone who does a knife hold 😅 Thank you for your comment, and hope you have a wonderful Christmas!
@elibell19 I haven't had squeaking. I usually listen to audio books while crocheting so don't pay attention to sounds from crocheting though. Some others have said rubbing a dryer sheet on the hook or washing it helps with squeaking.
I was also disappointed in the Prym. I really wanted to like it. I hold my hooks like you do and they are just too long for me. My favorite is the Clover Armour. I’ve never tried the Tulip because they are way out of my price range! New sub here!
I love the clovers they feel comfortable in my hands and I use the soft touch clover more The prym hooks feel light but sometimes feel a bit too long for my hand but I do like the lightness of the hooks Tulip seems expensive so have yet to buy one although I know people favour them
I was disappointed in the Prym too, for how many times I heard people say it's their favorite hook. It does not glide smoothly against the yarn. I have a knife hold so the hold doesn't seem to be the problem. Maybe it depends on the yarn material.
I can imagine the material has a lot to do with the glide for sure. The yarn I’ve been using the most this year is 100% cotton, and the glide was ok, but I might try these with other yarns and see if there’s much of a difference
Either one, I’d say yes. Prym has lovely hooks, but the neck of the hooks is too long for a pencil hold, in my opinion. It would be much more comfortable to use if you tend to do the knife hold. So, I’d only buy them if you have a knife hold
Interesting, I did mention how they glide with the yarn I utilized, but I did focus on the feel of the hook while holding it, as there’s no point (in my opinion) in buying a hook that glides through your yarn but doesn’t feel comfortable in your hand. Thanks for your input, I’ll keep that in mind for the next review video I make ☺️

This was very helpful! Thanks so much!
Glad it was helpful! 😊
The Prym hook seems out of balance for a pencil hold style. I would think a knife hold would be better for that hook. Thanks for the demo.

@@adiscraftsnthings I use a knife hold, and the Pryms are my favorite.
They are beautiful hooks. Glad you like them!!
@@PandoraBear357 hi. Do you find your Prom squeaky when using acrylic yarn? If so, can you fix it, or ignore it?

I totally agree! And thank you for subscribing!!
My favourite crochet hooks are tulip etimo & clover amour; smooth, light & comfortable. I am a pencil holder same as you. Never tried prym though.
Thanks for sharing!!
Hi I use clover and prym hooks amongst others I have never had a tulip hook
Right on! May I ask what your thoughts are about them?
I love the clovers they feel comfortable in my hands and I use the soft touch clover more The prym hooks feel light but sometimes feel a bit too long for my hand but I do like the lightness of the hooks
Tulip seems expensive so have yet to buy one although I know people favour them
I think you’re correct. Tulip is a bit more expensive than Clover. But either one is a great choice 😉

I think the prym works best on the knife hold
For sure!
Disambiguate, please. Is th knife hold the best use of the Prym, or is the Prym the best tool for a knife hold?
Either one, I’d say yes. Prym has lovely hooks, but the neck of the hooks is too long for a pencil hold, in my opinion. It would be much more comfortable to use if you tend to do the knife hold. So, I’d only buy them if you have a knife hold
A review is not only how you feel holding the hook! A review should be more in deep what about the stitching? Disappointed review.

@@adiscraftsnthings - I hope so, as more in deep and accurate reviews are needed.
I liked the prym M hook but the G 4mm snapped in half.
Oh, no! I’m so sorry to hear that 😢
