    I love my tulips. I have the black set which I love plus pink size 8 and a red size 10 just to see the variety. I have vision issues so being able to see the sizes is a big deal for me. The white on black is really good… I can see the numbers. And having everything all nice and Tucktaway in that really nice carrying case is a big plus. As you say, all I need to do is to grab that Keith throw it in my bag and I’m all set.❤

    I bought the black set which I love. However, I lost a couple of the hooks, so I ordered a pink hook and a red hook as a replacement to see how I like them. They are all great I find that I reach for my tulip hugs most of the time.
    I also love my clovers. They are very much like my tulip hooks. The best thing about the clovers is that they are color-coded so I don’t have to try to read the sizes., Which is a big plus for me as I have serious vision issues.
    Thanks for a really good review of these hooks. You did a great job, and you are the reason I bought the black set.

    I have Clovers and Tulips and find it more comfortable to use the Tulip. I think it's mostly because I have very small hands. I have the rose set and red Tulip set. Some say they are the same, but I find that the rose set slides more smoothly even from the first use, while the red ones have a bit of a gritty feel at first (it gets better after some time) . The red ones are lighter. I thought I was just imagining it, but I weighed each in the same hook size, and there is a very slight difference. And of course the red ones are easier to use with darker colors. Either way, I absolutely ❤❤❤ both sets

      Hello. I'm new to crochet. Can you tell me why you find the red hooks easier with dark yarn? I would have thought the gold would make it easier, because of the contrast? You are not the first person I hear about the red and the dark yarn, which is why I'm asking 🙏😊

    • @EezaLast
      @EezaLast 9 месяцев назад +2

      hello! i think it's because the coating on the red hooks is matte @@Danceswithfishes 🙂 i have honestly not seen or tried using the gold hooks so i do not know how they would compare to the red hooks (comparing to working against dark yarn), and i have to be honest that i really just loved the idea of pink and red hooks in a set that's why i opted to go with the red hooks versus the gold (which are cheaper even where i live).

      Hi! Oh I am OBSESSED with the red hooks, I just love them! I have a few that I purchased individually as well. I think the biggest difference between them is the color of the hook. It can be difficult to see the stitches sometimes when using darker yarns. Thank you for your comments and WELCOME to Knit4Brains! XX Kim

    I use the red Tulip hooks. I must say they are durable and just about puppy proof. I have a chewed 5mm red Tulip hook that my friend's puppy found and chewed. She was mortified and offered to buy me a new hook but I can still read the size of the hook and just the first inch or so is chewed so it doesn't impede my crocheting. I smile when I use it thinking of that naughty pup.

      It's so funny that you say that! My mothers pup chewed on SEVERAL of my Tulip hooks, I now have several sets! Like you, I can still crochet with them just fine...even with the tooth marks. 😁

    I'd like to try the tulip hooks. I use size 2mm to 4mm hooks most of the time. I do not like chunky yarns. I've only used larger hooks for a couple chenille style baby blankets. I use the clover handle for my hooks. I like the tulip hooks because of the print sizing. I "never" use plastic hooks.

    • @Kimberly_Knit4Brains
      @Kimberly_Knit4Brains  2 года назад +1

      Hi Annie, thank you for your comments and feedback. With 2mm and 4mm hooks, you must do some small, fine work. I am not a big fan of chunky yarns either, currently #3 is my favorite weight. I've tried the plastic as well and I am STILL most happy with the Tulip hooks I reviewed here. Thank you for your comments...keep them coming! XX Kimberly

    Hi Kimberly, I saw on a set of the tulip grey hooks that a 7.0 hook has 4mm on it, and on another set of the grey it has 7.0 as 4.5mm, which I believe to be the correct size. Do you know why it would differ? Thank you 🙂

    • @Kimberly_Knit4Brains
      @Kimberly_Knit4Brains  Год назад +1

      Hi! I'm sorry I didn't respond sooner to your comment :). You know, I did a video on this very subject!
      Basically, a size 7 crochet hook is a 4.50mm crochet hook and is right between a G and a H hook, if you're using the US terminology.

      Compared to other Tulip hooks, or other brands? They are definitely smaller than the Prym, Furls or Ophire, but they feel really good when you use them (in my opinion). 😁

    Hello! I have one Tulip red, I'm thinking abou getting the gold one.. I like that the red has a matte finishing on the hook, does the gold and pink hooks have the same finishing?

    • @Kimberly_Knit4Brains

      The gold hook has more of a matte finish on the handle. The pink is smoother, not the matte finish. Hope that helps! :) XX Kim

    I’m debating between the tulip gray and tulip rose… is the only difference the color??

    • @Kimberly_Knit4Brains
      @Kimberly_Knit4Brains  2 года назад +1

      Hi Dana and WELCOME!! Besides the color, the pink Tulip hooks come with 10 hooks as opposed to 8, but they are alot smaller (hook size). So if you do lace or ammrugumi work the pink would possibly suit you better. I think the largest in the Pink (don't quote me) is a 6.0. Also the case is "more stylish" as the company says, it's a pink "leather look" and a fancy crystal thingy on the tassel. The grey set is larger hook sizes (which was better for me) and only has 8 hooks. Again, I don't typically need the smaller hooks, and I don't care much about how the case looks. Right now (on Amazon) there is about a $50 difference between the sets. I will say, I've reviewed other crochet hooks since this video, and the greys are STILL my "go to." Hope this helps!! Welcome to our channel!

      @danavanoostendorp9094 2 года назад +1

      @@Kimberly_Knit4Brains yes, the pink has two more which are both smaller hooks, which I don’t really use. I’m also wanting to give a set to my daughter in law for Christmas and thought the pink color was prettier, but if there is no difference I think I will go with the gray. Also I saw red one.. do you know anything about those?

    • @Kimberly_Knit4Brains
      @Kimberly_Knit4Brains  2 года назад +2

      @@danavanoostendorp9094 I like the red as well. That set comes with 8 hooks, 2 tapestry needles, a ruler and the scissors. According to the manufacturer, the red colored hooks are "less reflective and easier on the eyes" than the other sets. Honestly, I have 1 red, 1 pink and 2 sets of the Etimo Tulip sets and I don't have a problem with glare with any of them. It came down to price for me, and that's why I want with the gold ones. I'm sure your DIL will be very happy with any set you give her, they are all excellent quality!
