I get it. I had a Hemi Durango for a while. It wasn't fast in the technical sense. It was fast in that it was a big heavy machine with a lot of power, and that just feels different than driving a small car will less power that is faster. All that being said, I wouldn't pay that much for a Harley that is slower than a Honda CB1100.

I've gotten to a stage 4 for free. bought my 96 twin cam already at stage 1, got in a wreck and insurance paid over the wreck estimate amount. used that extra money for stage 2. year later blew my motor, ESP covered the repair, again going over in cost, gave me enough for big bore (stage 3) and CNC heads (stage 4)
On my first engine build attempt this year I bored my 96 cube RK to 107,added 54h andrews cams, bigger throttle body and fueling oil pump n plate and got 110hp and 123 ft lb torque. Harley needs more practice 😂😂 another good vid man ,cheers
When people say that Harley's are slow, they neglect two very important points: (1) Harleys are cruisers (yes, I know that not every Harley model was designed as a cruiser). Cruisers are meant to cruise and were never intended to be rice rockets. The same could be said for Harley's touring models. Thus, the PURPOSE of a Harley motorcycle needs to be taken into consideration before one lamely argues that it's not as fast as bikes made by Japanese motorcycle corporations. (2) The various Harley stages or upgrades can make the engine much faster and performance oriented than the stock engine. Although it will never be as fast as the latest street bike from Kawasaki or Suzuki, it has a lot of torque and can move quite fast when it wants to. Granted, it may not go 180 MPH, but would you really want it to when one considers the tremendous danger of traveling at such a high rate of speed? If your intention in riding a motorcycle is to race around at highest speeds imaginable, then Harley motorcycles are not for you. Besides, do you actually want to enjoy the sights and smells of your environment or just blow past everything at 150 MPH? As in most things, the OBJECTIVE or PURPOSE of any particular motorcycle needs to be understood before criticizing it. In the case of Harley motorcycles, they were never intended to be street racing machines (with a few exceptional models). They were manufactured to be cruisers and touring motorcycles that were fun to ride and so that people could enjoy the best their travels would bring them.
I had an old Honda Blackbird and it was fast and was comfortable about 30 minutes at a time. You have to be young and limber to ride a crotch rocket. They are hard on your wrists and neck. My old 93 Heritage Evo has a cam, Jim’s Hydrosolids and a S&S carb and you don’t have to worry about getting out of the way of traffic or passing. To each his own.
@@jetstream454 True, but even then they're still not as fast as the higher performance rice rockets. They must be seriously worked on to perform at such high levels. It places an enormous strain on the engine because such stock Harley engines were never designed for such power. It's quite costly too I might add. Most Harley riders are not going to upgrade their bike to such measures.
@2:02 If you think these bikes can't be fast then you really need to get to your local drag strip and find out because its something that will blow your mind! The other cool newer thing is Big Wheel (Donk) racing! YOU REALLY HAVE TO SEE IT TO APPRECIATE IT BECAUSE IT BREAKS ALL THE RULES OF WHAT YOU WOULD IMAGINE A RACE CAR BEING! Awesome video man🔥🔥🔥
I love the stage 4 HD bikes, they're amazing machines. I always give them a friendly wave as I pass them on my Redheaded step child to "HD" on my 09' Buell XB12SCG...
I did the upgrade on a 2010 Ultra and had issues with it. Not sure if it was a bad job but it made what I would call a fluttering sound occasionally at the top of the cylinders. It had good power but it sounded bad. I then bought a 2013 Ultra new and have it today all stock and I love it.
I also had stage 4 on my 2009 videos in my profile pic i squeezed 119hp or it was a generous dyno but there was no shortage of torque one issue back then was i already owned dynojet programming software and tbey couldn’t get it tuned properly i had to get the screaming eagle tuner and wait for coincidentally the gm of the dealer had just done the same updrade and he got his dyno tuned and gave me his file
I've been riding cruisers with beach bars ever since I started riding, then 7 something years later I took my buddy's Indian Chieftain out for a spin that had mini apes on it, and that was way more comfortable in my opinion. the closer the bars are to shoulder height, the more comfy it'll feel. Just so long as they're not above the shoulders lol
I have a 2013 FLHTK with a full 103 Stage IV, and I just had to rebuild the entire bottom end. The high lobe cams are great, except they eventually tear up your lifters. Understand that this will have to be done between 45K & 50K miles...I got 47K miles, before I had to spend $2,700 to rebuild it, in addition to the initial cost of the kit, plus installation, exhaust, SE Heavy Breather, and tune, which was probably around $4,000, so I now have close to $7K in the motor alone! I could have bought a 120R for that!!!
I did a stage one on my 96, then a stage 2 cams, pushrods and a race tuner. I just got done doing a stage 3 110 kit. It feels faster. It's still in break in but I'll probably leave it alone. But that's what keeps us motivated. More Power!!

Engine mods are the most expensive mods. That is why buy the horsepower from the beginning from the factory. Less expensive to mod suspension. Even lighter, unsprung weight carbon wheels would be more cost effective as less weight helps handling, braking, and acceleration. Light weight lithium battery, lighter weight fenders, lighter weight TITANIUM EXHAUST. You can tell the difference between titanium vs other metals as the metal is the thinnest, more exhaust note.
A stage 4 is for folks who roll in the 6k range. A stage 3 is for the rest of us. They do make more drive train noise over stock which is annoying. But a stage 4 roll on in 5th & 6th gear is pretty awesome.
This is why I'm glad I bought an Indian challenger. I don't gotta spend 15k on parts/labor, pushing 122hp and 128 torque from the factory. To the wheel its somwthing like 116 and 123 respectively. Amazing suspension, better handling, drive modes, more featuress...now they just gotta work on the paint jobs😁.

Sean come on down for the forgotten angels campout. It’s the last weekend in October. I make some killer bbq that I will be doing for the event 24 pork butts!
Hey Sean I got one for you. I've got a 2007 Street Glide that was great until the dealership ran a special on upgrade kits so I sprung and got them to install the 103 stage ll kit which I painstakingly broke it in "exactly" how it's recommended. A hassle but no biggie after all I'd broke another 2cam in the same b4 with good results. Anyway eventually the rotor & the stator went out which the dealership replaced and after that I could no longer go on the church rides I enjoyed going on because after a stop my bike would have to cool down for 45min B4 it would turn over fast enough to start because for an unknown reason the compression was too high when hot. Then the steeler said I needed compression releases. They're fired! I wish someone would trade me a Evo Heritage for the StreetGlide.
The 2012 Fat Boy (103ci) I bought brand new was straight up slow af. I had to do the stage 1 immediately and it felt like it doubled the power. The difference was night and day. I did the stage 2 about 6 years ago and there was a noticeable difference but not a big of a difference from stock to stage 1.
For that kind of money I would of done Harleys 120 twin cam kits and worked on that. My old 104 was making that power with head work and 295 cams. Only about 2k
My Dyna Low rider S has a full stage 4 twin cam 117 including heads, it makes over 120 HP and over 120 torque it’s an animal and way to fast, it will hang on to my mates BMW s1000r naked, I wish I had done a stage one which run smoothly and still fast, You don’t see or notice anything on a ride when you go fast, HD slow is much better.

Hey bikes and berards with older bikes that are high milage isnt it possible to do a full engine rebuild and make it new again like for sentamental reasons ?
I put $22,000 Canadian into my 124 build. A 2014 Fatboy Lo (103 previous). I regret the build. It’s got 585 cams and the 10.2:1 pistons and puts out 116hp/138tq. I think a bike needs to be at that 160 square area to start having that “wow” factor… at least for me.
This is a Twin cam tho.. so some differences between that and the m8 motor and the capacity for power.. My 107cu in M8 with cam , tune, catless head pipes, aftermarket oil pump etc etc 105/115 Man.. I wasn’t a huge fan of the m8 when I got my 2019 FLHR. LOVE LOVE LOVE Road Kings But I didn’t feel the same charm as the twin cam had. Yea it’s better than the twin cam but that TC sound and feel But holy cow the M8 has grown sooo much on me since I did the stage 2 thing It got the sound and it rips kinda hard but my car blows it out of the water but I’d not want to ride any other bike than a HD !!!

Just your friendly reminder that a clapped out $2,000 2006 GSXR1000 does a 2.3 0-60 and will run until the sun implodes. Sick HD though, shame it costs that much to match numbers from some 80s performance cruisers (Vmax, Magna etc).

I have a 2018 street glide special with a stock 107 but I have a stage one upgrade on the bike instead of spending money and stages. Wouldn’t it be smart just to go straight to stage four or would it be a smarter plan to put a 131 in it, would that be a better option or would you get more power from a stage four kit out of a 107 or would it be equal to a 131?

Is there any actual ful efficient bikes that can do 110kms or even 1000s on highway while not using heaps of fuel, seems the 125ccs don't go fast but get the best distance
Is there a way to find out what has been done to a bike? Just bought a Fat Boy that I know had at least a Stage 1 done, how can I find out if they went further?
As a Harley rider the very first thing I noticed was firing it up. See how you don’t here that “blub blub blub”? Yeah Harley’s aren’t supposed to sound like they’re trying to die; because if they do…..usually they are. Nice crisp thumps are when you know it’s running its best.

I bought my 2011 dyna street bob new and left it stock till I put in the SE 110 tire shredder kit. Makes 106hp/122tq, runs awesome, sounds insane with the V&H dual radius exhaust. Thought it was the fastest thing on the road till I bought my 2020 z900 as a second bike!!!
glad you are enjoying it!!
I have a 2016 SGS with a Tire Shredder (Stage 5) kit in it. It's a BLAST to ride, except for one thing....It runs HOT. I put an UltraCool 3.0 on it, and it still runs hot. But, I have left sport bikes at lights, and it took them a bit to catch up. I had a guy on a 103 based Softail tell me, "I knocked the pipe off my bike trying to keep up with you." (The muffler separated from the headpipe....) I was pulling against a buddy with a similar rig, going UP A HILL, and I let off at 110. He let off at 115. The thing has torque for days, except for the heat. I haven't noticed a difference in the clutch, even though the spring was upgraded. But, it has a hydraulic clutch, so that may affect it. It's not a Hyabusa, and I'm not saying it is. But, don't sleep on my Geezer Glide. I surprise a LOT of people with it.
Everyone talks about the horse power and it's definitely nice to have but the torque my Raider has is too much fun to ignore 100hp & 120tq with a simple tune pipes & intake make that 800 pound bike feel like a dragster off the line but my happy speed has always been at 0-60mph
I agree with your assessment of more is better. Being a 2147cc club ember I concur that although the 131 Stage 4 has plenty of grunt, I want more too
I bought a new 2015 Street Glide Special denim black with a 103 motor and I only have 31,700 miles on it. I’m 72yrs. Old and I don’t put as many miles on it that I used too. I’ve done a lot aftermarket work on it but I didn’t do anything on the engine. The bike looks and runs like new. I’m thinking about about trading in for a new Street Glide, and the only reason it’s time to get a new color. I do like the new braking system on the new one. I really enjoy your channel Cliff Peranio
That motor sounds exceptionally smooth for being built.. 👌
On my first engine build attempt this year I bored my 96 cube RK to 107,added 54h andrews cams, bigger throttle body and fueling oil pump n plate and got 110hp and 123 ft lb torque. Harley needs more practice 😂😂 another good vid man ,cheers
When people say that Harley's are slow, they neglect two very important points:
(1) Harleys are cruisers (yes, I know that not every Harley model was designed as a cruiser).
Tell this to the Harley guys who ride them like race bikes 😂
You have nice taste in bikes man👍👍👍
I think those Buells will become collectible and rare as time goes on.
That stone wall is badass!
My 2007 88 twin cam has 107000 miles, original unrebuilt, just maintained.
I have a Streetglide ST, stock 117, M8 motor, I like it just fine. Everyone has different wants, more power to ya!
nice material.
I have a 2000 road King with a S&S 24 that started as a 80 then a 95 and so on and so forth. Some of us are always searching for more power. I have a evo stroker too that gets down. But that's what keeps us motivated. More Power!!
I love twin cams but you can push way more power out of the M8’s. My streetbob 114 with stage 2 hauls I find. It was a significant difference then stock, power to weight I can’t complain.
the hp/cid isnt that different on the built engines.
Dude my wife's got a stage 2 streetbob 114 and ya they do run of course my 2020 road glide will eat it's lunch but 148 hp will leave alot of bikes behind
@@oiscustomlife1741 148 hp?!? Is it rideable? If so, you could sell the build out for big bucks. I have yet to find a tolerable build with anything over 125.
@@mfuchs2004 oh ya it's my personal bike and daily rider it's cammed for top end power so I can keep the revs low and cruise or run it hot 4500 to 5000 and unleash the best it'll ping off the rev limiter at 80 mph in 2nd gear
@@mfuchs2004 I had 109 HP 1998 Evo heritage springer I'm mad wicked with the Harley Davidson engine
Good ol Willie G he noticed everyone taking the tour pak off the Ultra and said let’s make the StreetGlide!!! Best invention everrrr
I was gonna do the cams on my Grom but I decided to buy a new bike. Haha. Did the exhaust, intake, clutch. All by myself and minimal tools. Not too hard. Fun. Very. And entertaining. Haha.
Awesome you are at HD of Columbia. That’s where I bought my Road Glide from. Great dealership! Excellent video. Cheers !
I have a 2010 Road Glide with 96inch motor, installed S&S 585G cams, Fueling cam plate, oil pump, S&S adjustable push rods, S&S roller rockers, and S&S 585 valve springs, Bassani 4inch dual megaphone exhaust and header. 94hp and 104tq
@Srkcycles On Telegram Thank you for selecting me as a lucky winner.
You and Craig should set yourselves the challenge of fitting a 1000cc superbike engine to a harley/cruiser type.
Omg yes yes yes
no. thats why this hasn't happened. that's beyond lame.
I love the Street Glide never having owned one but always wanted too. I have a 93 Heritage and also had an 01 Twin Cam Heritage. Harleys just have a character of their own. I like motorcycles of all brands honestly though and there are some awesome bikes out there.
Street glide sux go with the road glide way better imo and if you can get the special or the cvo it's worth the extra money
@@oiscustomlife1741 yep. I love my fugly. Who knew listening to tunes on the highway could be so much fun?
I think the Heritage is one of the most beautiful bikes built. Absolutely classic lines. I have a Glide and always wanted a Heritage.
@@mfuchs2004 I know right 👍
@@oiscustomlife1741 I got a Fugly by accident- sort of. I took a dad's-day-off ride a few hundred miles to a Harley dealer 3 dealers away for the free coffee. They had a current year Stage 2 FLTRX with boom audio on consignment for an owner waiting on a CVO. Only 7k on it and I knew the guy. He literally bought a new Harley every single year. He only wanted $16k for it. I left the house on a Super Glide and returned home on a Fugly. Aerosmith the whole way home. Wife just said "cool color." She's a keeper, mostly because she stole my Nightster and keeping her is the only way I get to ride it.
Personally stage 2 kit on a short stroke 88 is plenty of power for me and a lot of torque, 95” What a blast to ride unfortunately I wrecked mine a few years back but that was the best Harley I had owned nothing has matched it cents
I had an 88 in my 04 rk. I miss the carb, loved that sound and character. It was a great bike. The only thing that worried me was the cam chain tensioner. Could have upgraded that for reasonable cash but the Dyna fits me better so I changed the whole bike instead 🤷♂️
Thanks for posting Harley van here to each his own personally do a lot of long range touring and I prefer my stock road glide to each his own
Glad to see your back man. Been waiting for some content. Keep doing your thing! God bless you brother! 💪🏾
FYI. He has another channel called “bikes and beards”
@@DirtyWellington word thanks man!! I’ll check it out.
Nice cut , my 131 stage 1V runs strong with the stepped header and a P/V tuner
What bike is that on ?
Stage 4 08 Dyna Super. Sick power and response. Has compression release buttons on both heads so I can even start it!
I have a 2004 kawasaki zzr 100 (160 hp & 120 ft. lb.) and now a 2015 streetglide ( 145 a piece to the wheel), so it's not slow. The Harley also has Ohlins suspension. I would rather ride the Harley because it's more comfortable for 2 up distance riding and I can't come close to using either bikes limits
I have a 04 Electra glide standard. Of course black with mini apes. Mine came with a CD player. No tour pack but I do have a sissy bar
I always wanted a Harley. I also always wanted a Yamaha Vmax. I finally decided to get a 2015 Vmax 1700 and no Harley can ever compare! Maybe a second bike? Hmmm, maybe…
The new 131 stage 4 kits with an after market cam are making over 150hp
I've ridden some pretty fast bikes, and bought some pretty slow bikes because they make me smile. If someone wants to drop some coin and make a slow bike slightly less slow, no skin off my back. Chase what makes you happy.
I wish someone would trade me a Evo Heritage for the StreetGlide.
would you have traded an evo wide glide for it?
That dealership didn't give me the time of day when I was shopping for a bike. Got a '20 LRS from Boswell's in Nashville instead.
My Stage 1 2020 Softail Standard does 0-60 in basically the same time, but I guess the extra 300lbs of the bagger does make a big difference.
For that kind of money I would of done Harleys 120 twin cam kits and worked on that. My old 104 was making that power with head work and 295 cams. Only about 2k
Love the videos and love seeing new content on motorcycles
My Dyna Low rider S has a full stage 4 twin cam 117 including heads, it makes over 120 HP and over 120 torque it’s an animal and way to fast, it will hang on to my mates BMW s1000r naked, I wish I had done a stage one which run smoothly and still fast, You don’t see or notice anything on a ride when you go fast, HD slow is much better.
Hi Sean I have a great Question, can you tell us how to Handle a Bike if we ever have a Tire Blow Out on the Road, Highway or any road and who would we call for assistance for Repairs?
Sean I know what everyone says about it, and boy do they say some stuff. But you can’t let what anyone says about it get to you, if it’s something you like then roll with it. Personally, I think your haircut looks solid.
You know, I tested a bunch of well, a few Harley bikes as a really young pup. On the point of cams and rebreathers mostly. I’ve personally seen bikes that would do sub 4 0-60. I know it’s not the best but.... you must have longevity and comfort. If you’re a leather face , extremity is your thing... remove your corners, safety, and endurance... there ya go. Whatever the case. Riders, look out for riders. Hey, I’ll leave you with John 15:1.
One of the best Channels on RUclips!
I just did a 6,800 trip across country and back on a Street Glide in all types of weather including a little snow. Try that on a whatever sportbike.
This is a Twin cam tho.. so some differences between that and the m8 motor and the capacity for power..
My 107cu in M8 with cam , tune, catless head pipes, aftermarket oil pump etc etc
105/115
Man.. I wasn’t a huge fan of the m8 when I got my 2019 FLHR. LOVE LOVE LOVE Road Kings
But I didn’t feel the same charm as the twin cam had. Yea it’s better than the twin cam but that TC sound and feel
But holy cow the M8 has grown sooo much on me since I did the stage 2 thing
It got the sound and it rips kinda hard but my car blows it out of the water but I’d not want to ride any other bike than a HD !!!
2012 road king owner. I don't work on them, just ride them.
It'll scream, it'll crackle, and it'll move. I love it.
Fo comparison, i rode a Hayabusa. That bike would kill me.
Edit: Sean, I agree. I hate farings, i want to see everything in front of me.
Appreciate the information!! Never understood spike bars like that ! What if you go down ??? Do you really need another danger that close to your face ?
I'll just keep my 2016 Magnum it does the speed limit, thanks Shawn
What do you think about a supercharged HD? My coworker has a huge blower on the side of his engine. Was expensive but he liked it.
What kind of bike is the small one at 2:32? Looks like a Harley at first glance but the V angle is much too big.
You breezed right through it, but I'll give it to you because MOST content creators don't share the gospel... moving on. I've been looking at purchasing a street glide or a full bagger, more for the comfort of the passenger... happy wife happy life
Airfilter, Software and Exhaust are good for me. And i ride the Swiss Alps.
I bet he spent more than 6k. I have the same bike with a 117 stuffed in there. It is also a stage 4 if you go by stages. Add a little nos in there and my 150 hp bike is a blast. It’s not a gsxr 1000.. but it goes great for a Harley.
The S&S 106 stage 4 is 40% more hp and torque on 07 Road King After cruising it stalls when coming to a stop any ideas?
Just your friendly reminder that a clapped out $2,000 2006 GSXR1000 does a 2.3 0-60 and will run until the sun implodes.
Sick HD though, shame it costs that much to match numbers from some 80s performance cruisers (Vmax, Magna etc).
this stone wall in the background is pretty well made 👌
6000 seams too high. I spent $3000 for SE screaming eagle installed on my Dyna Fat Bob. 110 HP and the same on TQ. Bike is so fun and reliable. No regrets.
Ah, yes. The Black Street Glide, or better know as the MeToo bike LOL .. Just like the IROC Camaro from the 80's :)
Man but those IROCs are so rare now
And you wish you could afford one. We get it.
Street Glide has a lot of great qualities so it attracts a a lot of buyers.
2020 Road Glide stage 2 torque kit. Dyno at 100hp and 117ft lbs. The biggest issue I have is, Who does the work, where do u go?? So many horror stories out there.
I also have a 2010 dyna cammed out lots of works putting down near 100hp. Professional race shop did work and has lasted 30k miles so far.
Shawn, honestly your humor cracks me up, "Uhh your haircuts stuipid", the delivery of them 🤣
Can you please do a test drive of a 2020 starventure tc want to see what you think of it ,yes I own one but I love your reviews
Personally bought a Vrod screaming eagle cvo with the destroyer package talk about get up and go
I can’t wait till Harley Davidson comes out with a stage 5,6,7….. there’s always somebody standing in line to get more power…. Not me, stage one, plenty good enough. Of course that 114 air cleaner cover does improve the wind resistance nicely😀
Is there any actual ful efficient bikes that can do 110kms or even 1000s on highway while not using heaps of fuel, seems the 125ccs don't go fast but get the best distance
111 hp is no joke and that torque number is really good too,
Is there a way to find out what has been done to a bike? Just bought a Fat Boy that I know had at least a Stage 1 done, how can I find out if they went further?
What year is the bike
I loved my 103! I REALLY LOVE MY 114!
I still plan on doing an S&S stage 4 kit on my 2004 softail. Its currently a 88ci twin can, can bump that year up to 100.
100 is definitely not the limit on an 88 TC.
As a Harley rider the very first thing I noticed was firing it up. See how you don’t here that “blub blub blub”? Yeah Harley’s aren’t supposed to sound like they’re trying to die; because if they do…..usually they are. Nice crisp thumps are when you know it’s running its best.
Stage 4 is overkill for 99.999% of riders. Stage 2 is the sweet spot for price and performance. No other mfg matches HD for premium paint, fit and finish rolling out of the factory. Everything else is second rate.
Hope this wasn’t previously mentioned but what type of exhaust/pipes are those?
I like Harley's and I don't care what anyone says
I went to your site and didnt see any bikes for sale. am i missing something?
Heeyyyy, this place is like an hour away from me! Crazy you traveled down this way.
how much comparison would u sayt his has to the kawasaki 2000cc u drove before ?
2006 fat boy 88inch stock and it’s fun for me
I miss srk seriously his channel was the best.
All the stage stuff should come stock on Harleys for as much as they price them.
