So to clarify, the crate engine he purchased is a 2150 cc engine or a 2.1L engine, and it has 4.5" pistons (approx) diameter. It's the biggest engine you can possibly buy for a motorcycle, other than Triumph's 2.3L Rocket with a car engine. The crate engine had 140 horsepower stock. On pump gas, he went from 140 horsepower to 210 horsepower, a 70 horsepower gain by adding the cam and turbocharger and oil pump. The camshaft alone added 20 horsepower. Using race gas he was able to temporarily up the boost to get 260 horsepower, but that's not a normal thing you would want for long term.

Without even watching the vid let me list a few reasons you don't need a turbo on a Harley. 1. Cost. 2. Reliability. 3. Shit hanging off the right side of the bike. 4. Maintenance. Sure the extra power is nice, but is that why we buy Harleys? Nope. We buy them for the cool factor. If you want 240 HP get a NinjaBusa or a Yamasaki.
Harley is pretty much the best platform for a street turbo. You essentially want a "badly" tuned engine, and thats what a harley is. Compared to japanese sport bikes with a 13:1 compression, harley only has 9:1. A turbo is essentially a compressor, so you are in fact adding compression. With a harley you have a headroon of 4:1 compared to a sport bike. In drag racing a bandit 1200 and a busa might be the ideal, but those are not as reliable setups. A harley on the other hand can take the turbo and stay reliable. Just tune it properly, increase oil pressure for the added loop to the turbo and make sure the engine gets cooled properly. Other good candidates for turbocharging include everything with a harley engine and japanese cruisers that also have a ton of headroom.
I’ll take 1! Exactly the same. Sorry not trying to copy but that is truly an amazing looking bike all around including the performance it has. I’ve never seen a blacked out road king special from Arizona to Pennsylvania.

@@DougShoeBushcraft if he keeps getting it tuned as he is I'd imagine it's far less likely to blow. Especially if after he's pushed it and found how far he can push it he gets it tuned to be less aggressive and pull it back a bit from it's top limits. Yhea he'll lose a bit from the top power numbers but he'll then not be straining the parts to their absolute limits. But yhea at least the video he'll make to show it blowing and him crying he'll be able to get some of the cost of fixing the bike back unlike normal riders who just have to cry and stare at their now very empty wallets.
It's great that there are reafy kits for these torque v-twins. I have a 1999 yamaha xv1600 that i turbocharged. Even with 100hp and 200nm from tire, it's SOOO lovely in nature! Having close or over 200hp is great!
You can turbo with Dynojet Power commander V ok. The exhaust two in one so early before turbo affects 02 sensors. Exhaust reversion makes it difficult to autotune but a bit of maths to even out cylinder one and two afr trims or on map results helps to overcome errors. Then adjust up untill it starts to glow red and back it off a bit.
This gets me thinking so much. How much of that bottom end ease could you get back with the cam going back and how much power would that cost? Would it be worth it? Please turn TC off. That cut must have put a lot of load through everything going on-off-on like that. I would rather it light the rubber than stress expensive parts. Only things I would really change are I would have to run it on pump (for availability), I would have backrests for both seats and I would probably go for black turbo and pipes to go with the bike. The stainless are more stand out and cool but I like stealth when its making big numbers. I remember all the haters when you mentioned 200hp and I remember commenting on when you do it I need a parts/cost breakdown so I can copy it. I still need that breakdown - at least for the parts. I'm also wondering what the cheapest RK I can get to put that motor in is since I'll be swapping pretty much everything anyway.
It looks like the pie making machine. From the movie chicken run. I like the matching numbers that’s great I appreciate that too. I ride a Lowrider s Shawn and I ride it hard and I can honestly say it is a really good balance of handling brakes and performance. I wanted to do something like this but I didn’t think it would work on my DYNA. More power the brakes wouldn’t be good enough it on the limit of its handling. It’s a perfect balance of everything. I had a hayabusa turbo hardly rode it. I honestly believe it was a better more usable bike. The upgrade in power made it unusable and horrible to ride. Hope you don’t have the same problem. I’d be tempted to try a super charger because of the smooth delivery from tick over too top end. Be careful my Suzuki though me out of the seat a few times. You’ll find out what I mean.
So you dropped another 30 grand into a 40k motorcycle to achieve average horsepower for a 2150cc engine. In-line 4cly are making almost 200hp per liter with no mods. Not to mention the bike now weighs over 900lbs!

Hey Sean, I also buy and sell Motorcycles and powersports Vehicles just over the border in Niagara Canada. I have an awesome trade here to offer you for the Road King!!!! It’s a 1973 Crestliner boat. The engine smokes like crazy but it still runs awesome, probably just needs an engine rebuild. The boat is in awesome shape except for all the soft spots in the floor, the ripped and torn vinyl on the seats, and the stringers that need repair. The trailer is in fantastic shape except for the frame has a massive crack that needs to be welded. The tires are great, they all have 95% tread left on them. Unfortunately the tires are weather cracked and don’t hold air. The lights all work great except for the back right, the back left and front right side marker. I know this may seem to good to be true, but I am willing to add $50 cash (USD) on top of the boat in trade for the Road King. Just let me know when I can pick up the bike. I will be expecting your call.
Thanks for all the great content. It’s sincerely appreciated by us little people. You have mentioned bringing that amazing Road King to the track for some 1/4 passes. I would like to invite SRK to Toronto Motorsports Park to do so. You might as well take your brand international right???
Turbo definitely most horsepower for the money but any engine mods very expensive vs just buying horsepower from the factory which Harley does not offer. You need more torque with a heavier bike vs a lighter bike. What is the redline? Higher the rpm the more pull?
Did you do any suspension mods to this? Transmission? Theres a lot more that goes into a build than just slapping a big bore in a bike and turbo. Ive rode harleys with big power and they ride like absolute garbage on stock suspension. And if you’re on stock transmission good luck lol. All in all thats pretty impressive numbers. We did a similar kit at work and put down about 175hp on a 117 ST. We had to send the crank out because it was tilting the scale on being out of spec from factory
if you watch the rest of the video I did mention that I ve got, but did not install yet an Ohlins front forks and rear tuned by big bear. and Im told that if you know how to shift it properly that the stock trans can handle the big hp. We will find out if what i was told is correct lol. but next step would be to replace the crank and all the internals
I like the way you adjusted mirrors, right covered with a sticker and left inspecting the neighborhood 😅. Great bike with great mods!!!! How is your WLA project going?
What breaking system are you going to have. Surly that's something it really needs as there's just no way the stock breaks are good enough for the bike as it is now. If you want it to be fast on the track as well as the road then Breaks and suspension are possibly at least as important as the power upgrade you've had done. A specialist ECU would probably bring a huge advantage as well, I don't know if getting such a thing is even possible and if its not is hacking the one on the bike already and making some useful changes to that instead something you can do?
Hey man see you like your bike did you know orca cycles has a 350 HP turbo for 131ci with inter cooler that's the place you go for big HP .no dynoing no mid range sputters .check it out they have 350 HP bike you can test ride with 6 piston brakes runs on pump gas there you go
those slow light throttle maneuvers should be tunable. the ignition table in that section has to be very smooth otherwise the transition between on throttle and engine braking will be jerky
Good video, looks like a too much fun to ride. Thunder Max isn't the only tuner for turbo / supercharged engines, Lloydz also has a tuner for their Supercharger Kits...thinking of upgrading my Indian Super Chief Limited which currently has stage 2 and a Lloydz tune.
The roads are so nice looking, ours are just crap all the time and slick cause its asphalt..oil and bikes great. Love the setup on the bike but will never get over that the harley engine only outputs 121hp for a 2L engine with CNC heads etc and no way the VE is low to allow for massive gains
I'm in massachusetts. Got a 08 zx10r if your ever in the area we should meet up and see what that road king is capable of. Would love to see it in person and love the content you put out.
It does look like a lot of fun and a beautiful looking mod. One question I have is are you going to overwork the transmission and the final drive with all that extra horsepower? Will you be snapping drive belts for example? You did address the clutch issue because I had that question and I’m guessing the stock clutch will start to slip soon, even maybe with heavier springs? Anyway, enjoy
the torque and hp are the same because they are low revving bikes. if your torque tops out between 4900 and 5400 then the max torque and hp will be fairly identical Having less doesnt mean you will be slower. a 50ft lb bike with 200hp at a gazzillion rpm will be just as fast as a 400 ft lb bike with 200 hp at 2-3k rpm The high rpm bike will probably be faster off the line because not a single road tire can put 200hp down at low speed and from a dig Not to mention it will be significantly lighter because the motors of high rpm machines tend to be allot lighter than torquey engines. you`re gonna cook the heads on those aircooled motors though if you do some significant pulls with that thing.
Geez, must be doing something right! Haterz be out in the comment section. Keep up the good work Sean! Love this road king series, most peeps probably only ever need a stage 2 to be really happy with that M8.

Your boost gauge isnt working brother. I built my 2020 Road King Special 131 trask turbo last year, so Im familiar with all the shit I had to go through to get it running right. Make sure the boost vacuum tubing isnt crimped where ever it was ran from/to.
how much did the tuning cost?
@@todchez1047 tuned itself using thundermax. I changed a bunch of the values over time as it had adapted better.
@AnthonyCifani ah ok ,so they send a base map with the thundermax and u tweek it
Without even watching the vid let me list a few reasons you don't need a turbo on a Harley. 1. Cost.
Pretty sure a stock 114 and 117 is 10.5 to 1
Or just buy a sportbike so you can also run canyons instead of just riding the fwys with leather tassels and your mom on back😂
@P Burg it's nice to have both. Have multiple harleys multiple sportbikes. Each has its purpose.
@@pburgvenom who wants a plastic jap ass metric chopstick to ride on??🙄🙄
Helo form Mexico!!! You are my héro!!!!! I love HD Road King and your are the Real KING!!! Keep riding!!
Have to wonder how well stock internal parts like valves, pistons and piston rods can hold up to the added HP and force. Long term?
only time will tell
I’ll take 1! Exactly the same. Sorry not trying to copy but that is truly an amazing looking bike all around including the performance it has. I’ve never seen a blacked out road king special from Arizona to Pennsylvania.
Turbo or not,Black Road Kings are my favorite as well. No radio, just a speedo on the tank and that great sound!
I was skipping around on your video and got whacked by some Proverbs. Thanks G, needed that one. God bless you duder!
1st; I'm waiting for Bakers Transmission & clutch upgrade so you can get that under 10 seconds. Maybe a Quick Shifter
2nd; I wanna see ya do rodeos. I feel you'll use the BMW 1250GS tho
i do need a quick shifter, and you cant beat the gs for rodeo
How many miles before that blows apart? Great for you, but I don't have the $ to be rebuilding it every week.
we are going to find out
@@Srkcycles I bet that would make another great video and you can laugh all the way to the bank.
My geezer glide with the 114 engine gets 46 miles per gallon 2 up. I haven’t changed anything…. No tune, no mufflers. I’m enjoying that fuel economy.
What a freakin BEAST!!! In this case, it is what you're riding
My bike is stupid fast with 150 hp and 78 lb ft torque. I couldn't imagine riding that beast.
more stupid
It's great that there are reafy kits for these torque v-twins. I have a 1999 yamaha xv1600 that i turbocharged. Even with 100hp and 200nm from tire, it's SOOO lovely in nature! Having close or over 200hp is great!
Hey Sean, do you think the gains would've been proportionate if you would've used the original engine?
that's a pretty stupid question. You are barely breaking 120 with a 107 and Trask kit.
What are the pros and cons of turbocharging the bike vs supercharging the bike?
No manufacturer puts turbo on bike but a lot of them put SC's. That should tell you everything you need to know.
That's a bad arse bike. I'm not a Harley guy (I like Italian bikes) but I've been having an urge in my heart for about a year now for a Harley.
E85. Could always put it on a switch so u can switch between tunes on the fly
Use an ethanol sensor to do the map change
Very impressive numbers. I just bought a Kawasaki zh2 which is factory supercharged and I love it.
turbo'ing my Street Glide was one of the best decisions I ever made. I never get tired of it.
Can't believe how good that thing sounds. Makes me want to turbo my 2 cylinder aprilia tuono
So you dropped another 30 grand into a 40k motorcycle to achieve average horsepower for a 2150cc engine. In-line 4cly are making almost 200hp per liter with no mods. Not to mention the bike now weighs over 900lbs!
Love your content, Brother. I keep trying to make vacation plans to go by your shop. I just need to find a way to explain it to the wife.😂 both you and Craig seem like the real deal good guys.
Keep being awesome, fan from Canada.
Had a turbo vrod. Traded it for a 08 zx14 and haven't looked back.
This is the most entertaining/ good vibe content motorcycle channel
Best road king on you tube....even the old man's from moonshine Harleys that was only 180hp....
Don’t know if you’re running a steering dampener but that might be a good mod/upgrade
no steering damper , bc i cant find anyone who makes a kit for my bike
@@Srkcycles Aww you just made my day conversing with the big cheese😊 (meant to be funny not rude) Y’all can fab mounting points, and there’s got to be a dampener out there that could be purposed.. hopefully. Anyway have a blessed day🙏
I think we might have to do that, its something i ve been thinking about a lot lately
I will be expecting your call.
uhhhhhhh not really a boat guy
Thanks for all the great content. It’s sincerely appreciated by us little people.
You have mentioned bringing that amazing Road King to the track for some 1/4 passes.
I would like to invite SRK to Toronto Motorsports Park to do so.
You might as well take your brand international right???
Did you get to the Fast Eddie Fisher's auction a few weeks ago there in Pennsylvania?
I watched a video on his life. What a great racing career!
Do some 0-60 and quarter mile times, get use to it and see what you can get out of it.
Itwas pretty easy to get that mhch power out of the bike.
Makes you wonder why HD doesn't do it from the factory.
I rented the same bike in Florida and it was pretty quick but definitely felt like it needed more
Turbo definitely most horsepower for the money but any engine mods very expensive vs just buying horsepower from the factory which Harley does not offer.
Right on
Sean when is the WLA video coming? I’m pumped to see the progress/completion?
wldr coming soon
I love how you break out the ole Valkyrie to be able to somewhat keep up 💪
20,000$ harley
10,000$ in mods
---------------------------------
30,000$ and 260HP later, still slower than a 3000$ used R1 that needs a tuneup.
Let’s see a video going over the cost of build. Is this really doable for the average rider. I want to do it to my 2023 Fatbob.
The M8 road king specials are the best looking bikes ever made in my opinion.
Fatboys are better.
Been watching your videos a while finally got my first bike at 27, 1968 t100c
I can not wait to see this bike at the track!
Hey man see you like your bike did you know orca cycles has a 350 HP turbo for 131ci with inter cooler that's the place you go for big HP .no dynoing no mid range sputters .check it out they have 350 HP bike you can test ride with 6 piston brakes runs on pump gas there you go
I like that your chase bike was a Honda Valkyrie , I think its probably one of the best looking bikes out there
those slow light throttle maneuvers should be tunable. the ignition table in that section has to be very smooth otherwise the transition between on throttle and engine braking will be jerky
I rented that bike for a week in Florida, it was already fast stock. Can't imagine how it feels with double the h.p.
how about your machine vs rocket 3 the fealing =) ? similar your harley even pull harder ?
The matching numbers thing is awesome👍
The roads are so nice looking, ours are just crap all the time and slick cause its asphalt..oil and bikes great. Love the setup on the bike but will never get over that the harley engine only outputs 121hp for a 2L engine with CNC heads etc and no way the VE is low to allow for massive gains
I like my road king. But you're rk is crazy!!! Thats a wicked machine!!!
Anyway, enjoy
chains conversion and yes probably everything will break lol
the torque and hp are the same because they are low revving bikes.
if your torque tops out between 4900 and 5400 then the max torque and hp will be fairly identical
Having less doesnt mean you will be slower. a 50ft lb bike with 200hp at a gazzillion rpm will be just as fast as a 400 ft lb bike with 200 hp at 2-3k rpm
The high rpm bike will probably be faster off the line because not a single road tire can put 200hp down at low speed and from a dig
Not to mention it will be significantly lighter because the motors of high rpm machines tend to be allot lighter than torquey engines.
you`re gonna cook the heads on those aircooled motors though if you do some significant pulls with that thing.
The fact new 2 piston engines are beating some old v8 engines is amazing
V-twin air-cooled
Geez, must be doing something right! Haterz be out in the comment section. Keep up the good work Sean! Love this road king series, most peeps probably only ever need a stage 2 to be really happy with that M8.
Absolutely beautiful bike. Stay blessed, brother!
Love my Road King I bought from Sean at SRK Cycles. They wee great to do business with. I will by again if they sell bikes again. Sean is crazy with this Road King.
Buddy! You are back!?!? Great! Good speaking to ya!!
Do you guys perform this type of tuning to the public? I own a 2013 Honda CB600F (Aka Hornet) that I really want to put an big turbo in it and a few other adjustments just for fun and maybe try on a Drag race somewhere from time to time.
The road king is my favourite bike of the Harley line-up, maybe even overall. Can't imagine chucking that behemoth down the road with 200HP
For $70k you to can compete with a $15k sport bike in a straight line! 😅
Still, it does sound damn good.
Genuine question as a car guy. How high do these cruisers rev and where in the rev range do you hit peak power and talk?
Nice Road King! I had to sell my beloved 2007 FLHRSE Road King to pay for cancer treatment bills. Still paying on those bills since 2020, when I sold the bike. If it’s God’s will, I’ll get another bike, and it definitely will be another Road King!
Beast, love it you only live once
That is one beautiful bike.
We had problems lifting the cylinders off the cases. Pulling the studds right out. We were making 365hp on a 113 with nitrous and k4 turbo
wow that amazing
i have a stock gen 1 Hayabusa 164 rwh that is 3 inches over stock that runs 9.50s in quarter good luck and street legal also have Gen 2 busa with small turbo street bike that runs in 8s off the street .Hopen to run into that Big Dollar Harley.
