Digging Up A Leaking Water Line

- Had a leaking water line I dug up for the plumber on a property he manages. He did not install it so we had no idea where it went into the house so we started at the meter and followed it. They apparently got paid by the foot judging the path they took. There was a leak under the slab as well as the brass pig tail off the meter that was cracked. They cut the brass off and installed a new fitting and ran a whole new pex line. I smeared the mud out as best as I could, plan to come back with the loader when it's dry enough and dress it up and spread seed and straw. Thanks for watching! #EliteEarthworks #Takeuchi #waterleaks

Had a waterline tie in job this summer. Newer house... 5 years old. The owner said the pipe came from the SW into a freeze proof spigot... so I started digging above it at about 5 ft away. After going down 5 ft and finding no pipe.... I started digging toward the spigot. At the spigot, we found a tube 2’ deep going across the ditch. Was getting ready to reposition when the homeowner tugged it and pulled a 3’ length of just some random garden hose.
At the base of the spigot we found that the PEX tubing going in was about 3ft deep and curved 12” left of where we started.
Just goes to show you.... the shortest distance between two points is a straight line.... except for plumbers!
Homeowner bonus::: I’m gettin’ a new yard!
William Harris oh man your exactly right you never know with plumbers. Haha that is true on the new yard!
Is that what you would call an emergency call out? I enjoy all your videos, you shouldn't keep apologizing for what you think could be rubbish content, maybe put a few of the small jobs together and make one larger vidio. I always say that RUclips shrinks the world, I just think its great visiting other parts of the world and seeing how people get on with everyday life, and I haven't even left my living room 😊 keep em comin 💕
Jane Tolch yes and no I guess, the tenant was out of town for the week so it wasn’t like he was without water. Thank you I appreciate that and I can definitely put some small jobs together. I agree with you it’s cool seeing how people complete task around the world. Thanks again for the comments!
Great vid please make more of these they are good to watch thank you , maybe not for you but us viewers like them a nice change from sewer ditch’s
Cool I appreciate the feedback! I do enjoy the change from those lol!
Grading mud is always a good time.
Yeah it will drive you nuts!
It was okay thanks for sharing you just wanted to play in mud today thanks for sharing
ANDREW Shullick 🤣 yep! Love playing in the mud!
You have done a good 👍 job on the Digging up a leaking water line I love your video 📷 the are best ones I just can't wait for the next ➡️ video 📷 #DiggingUpTheWaterLine
Thank you!
Looks like you were playing the video game Dig Dug back in the 80's with the way that water line ran. Just remember, little jobs pay the bills too. That's a typical day in the digging business and I like watching them.
Blackdog Tractor/Excavator lol that’s what it felt like. Good deal appreciate the feedback!👍🏻
Like diversity in video content and narration makes more it interesting . That why people watch is to see what you are doing day to day. I worked in the stevedoring business about 30 years and what was boring to me was interesting for people that was not around that kind of work.
Rumple Stilskin cool thanks for the feedback and that’s true I have to remember not everyone does this day to day. Thanks again
Nice zigzag digging there lol, great job!
Man With A Plan lol yeah I was like what in the world. Thanks sir!
37 here in morning. Nice change from the heat. Little rain this evening. Getting ready to hit the road.
Yes I’m enjoying the cooler weather here
@@eliteearthworksllc heading in morning to North Carolina for Luke's concert tomorrow night. Stay the night and come back Sunday. So should have fun out there.

As true patriots of your channel (Not sure where I have heard that before.) we would watch whatever you film. I venture to guess if you did a timelapse of cars rusting we would watch.
Brian Gardiner lol love it! Thanks man!
My compliments to you as an owner/operator Brandon. You go in blind guided only by the plumbers ""best guess" and you locate the pipes, excavate as required, let them repair/replace the damaged sections, and do the best you can with the muddy material and still end up with a decent looking rough finish grade. Much respect for your efforts on this one and especially trying to film in the not so good weather conditions.
Have a great weekend, enjoy your time away from the machines, the mud, and the annoying builders' guys that leave trash in your work areas! Work safe.
Doug@ the "ranch"
Thank you! It’s definitely challenging at times but just got to make the best of it! I appreciate the kind words too! Hope you have a great weekend! 👍🏻
Yep, I will watch. Watching you dig the trench from the beginning in 2 or 4x speed would have been interesting. You see, we love watching the machine work. At least I do. So, all that excavating would have been great. Thanks for posting.
Joel Hershberger great thanks for the feedback. I need to get better at grabbing the camera when I first get there. I’ll be sure to post more of this 👍🏻
Since you were working on the customer side,,, no inspections are required. I was surprised about no stone bedding or marker tape being used though. It is good to see the variety of work you get challenged with. Peace dude.
bluemtnsman yeah no inspection on water lines only sewers. They threw some chat on the fittings but it was sleeved in 2” pvc. No one around puts ribbon or anything on water lines, only underground power. Which sometimes can be a real surprise when digging somewhere new
Nice working
Iwan Deegenaars thank you!
Nice video
It’s BRASS!! 🙄😂
Mrs. Elite Earthworks 🤦♂️
Mrs. Elite Earthworks oh so it is 🤣
I think it's time for another dump truck driving lesson! 🚚👍👷♀️
not copper, dumb brass ;)
Keith Brettell maybe this time I’ll finally master the brakes! 😂
Thank you so much for the video! Doesnt matter the job I will always watch! Love every video and I really love the dirt ones! 😊 I could seriously watch your videos for hours so I'm always excited to see you uploaded a new one!
Sarah Loudermilk thank you I appreciate that!
🔥Any of us who have worked mud know you did a great job. We may have the tools but not always the best material. On a positive note...I bet grass seed would take great in that stuff😁
Thanks man! Yeah the mud is definitely a pain! Oh for sure the grass seed would go crazy! Thanks again
I love all these type of videos!
jace townsend awesome! Thank you!
Don't feel too bad about ending up with a muddy mess, it seems mud is the most common thing we have to work with anymore.
Dirt E Diggin lol ain’t that the truth!
Awesome Video :)
Leonard Walker thank you! I appreciate that!
Is that brass? Hey, I don't mind incomplete project vidjas. It's real life. Wonder if whoever first buried that zig-zag-pipe is watching and laughing lol. Thanks for the video!
Lol thanks buddy I appreciate that! Yeah no kidding 🤣
Been doing a lot of water main repairs this summer
Mostly 6” dig for 30 minutes then watch for 2 hours Love it👍
Lol nice!
It might be boring to you, but I like to see what you do
josh viking ok I appreciate that. I’ll film more stuff like this then
@@eliteearthworksllc TY
Can't believe the route that pipe took as the the more joins the greater the chance of a leak maybe it was for job preservation, the diagonal route would have been better. Hows your weather looked like you got a dumping, I am sick of the rain here we are now on 3days of it and forecast is for it to go into Sunday.
barry hansen yeah they must have got paid by the foot 🤣. Yeah we’ve been getting a ton of rain. I’m with you I’ve had enough.
@@eliteearthworksllc as long as yours dosn't turn to snow you are all right this is meant to be spring feels like winter we are in single digits 7c at moment been like that for 4days.
barry hansen oh wow that is crazy! It was 70 today and is now 37 🥶. Weather is crazy this year
Not bad a day in the life 👍
Thank you! I’ll do better to get a before next time!
Good work Brandon, at least ya didn't go home smellin like 💩 😃
Am I Right, Mrs. Elite?
Silver Grizzly thank you! 🤣🤣 true it can always be worse
Silver Grizzly for once! 😂
Just pretend you are Chris, film everything, throw 20 minutes of the most interesting stuff together and post! We will watch it! The key to RUclips is consistency, post at the same time on the same days with the same length videos, that will get you the views and recommendations. (so I've heard from a bunch of channels)
Badgermatt75 2016 🤣 I could totally do that! I need to get more consistent my views are way down. Appreciate the help 👍🏻
Badgermatt75 2016 I like pretending he’s Chris sometimes, too... 😉😂
@@mrs.eliteearthworks You're a hoot. Thanks for the laugh. Have a blessed and safe weekend. Take care.
Mrs. Elite Earthworks omg, I spit out my kick start when I read that! 🤣🤣😂😂😅
Mrs. Elite Earthworks 🤣 I could see that! But hey whatever works 🤣
I thought they might have had you put some stone in there as long as they were redoing it, but I guess not. Sure looked like a sticky mess but it ended up looking decent considering the conditions.
Dale Premo it was sleeved in 2” sch 40 pvc but they did put some chat on the fittings. Thanks I’ll get it dressed next week when it dries out.
You could send some rain our way and we'll trade you wind!
I’ll take for a bit! 🤣 there’s no pleasing me
Good job. How did you dig that and no extra pipe
Thank you! What do you mean extra pipe?
@@eliteearthworksllc meant extra dirt left over. Got new tablet and I type something and it changes it. Driving me nuts. Have a great weekend
Lol gotcha! Yes I don’t know how that worked out lol. Have a great weekend
do the water line filming
Cool thanks for the feedback! 👍🏻
Where are all the rocks? Your videos always have rocks to deal with.
walter mattson lol there were one or two but not many on this site. Nice change for sure. 😁
You didn’t show anything
I’m not sure I found anything
