My husband gave me the gift of permanent eyeliner for Christmas several years ago. I absolutely love it! I don't get to experiment with different colors but I love that I have liner on even when I just get out of bed in the morning!

Sharalee I have been following you for about a year now. I am 58 and have had to learn a lot of things about makeup on an aging face. Oh my goodness, did I NEED these tips!! I have oily eyelids but dry on the rest of my face. I forget so much of the time to put primer on those lids! I LOVE the tips about eyeliner too. A lot of the time I only wear eyeliner, but I struggle to keep my eyeliner from losing its shape, so these tips are just wonderful!! On another topic, I thought about you this morning as I was "attempting" to cut my own cuticles....GADS!! Ok, your nails always look so manicured! I would LOVE to see a video all about nail care. I truly appreciate you watching! No, I've never tried the Phoera makeup but will have to check it out. If you are having trouble with the longevity of the foundation, a couple of drugstore powder and setting spray options you might try are the Wet n Wild Photo Focus Setting Powder and the Maybelling Lasting Fix Setting Spray😘
Excellent video as always! I don't have really oily lids, but I found many of your tips will still be helpful to me. Lower lashes- have you tried the Maybelline Snapscara tubing mascara in waterproof? It is exceptional! ❤️

This is a very informative in depth tutorial Thanks Shirley. I have oily lids also and use an eye primer followed by a base powder shadow. I have the caviar sticks but It is hard to blend them over the powdered lids. What do you suggest? Perhaps you could do a video using the Laura mercier caviar sticks?
I would recommend applying the eyeshadow primer and then using the caviar sticks before any powder eyeshadow. I too find that cream formulas are harder to blend over powder products. Thank you for the video request! I'll add that one to the list😘

I always apply my setting spray by spraying a powder brush and lightly apply it to my face. Great tips💜

What a great tips video! It has been very hot here in Georgia & I've been fighting some of the issues you covered. Thank you, thank you! Question... do these tips & suggestions work with one & done eye shadow looks? Since I don't always use a powder base on the entire lid with the one & done looks, I get some smudging on the upper part of my lids. I appreciate all you do for your viewers!!!
Yes, I think many of these tips will work for those "one and done" shadow looks. You may also try spritzing a flat shadow brush with a little setting spray (just be sure it's not a hydrating one😘) and then gently tap that over the shadow and let it dry before opening your eyes. Also, you could do a light dusting of translucent setting powder over the top of your eyeshadow when you are done and that may help as well.

That was neat my friend! And I love your look 🥰 My lids are usually pretty normal or on the drier side but sometimes the meltdown still happens?? The “bangs” tip was a great point!! What’s the difference between a tubing and a regular mascara?? 😳 I did start using a setting spay but they are hydrating and I spray BEFORE putting mascara on. Maybe I should spray even before eye make-up…. 😉😘
Hopefully a few of these tips will help you determine what is happening with your eye makeup! I do think changing up the setting spray application will really help and those bangs....they can be trouble!😆😘 A tubing mascara creates an actual tube on the lashes, preventing smudges, flakes and mascara runs. When you go to remove it, you just use warm water and press your lashes between your fingers to loosen the tubes and gently slide them off. It's pretty amazing!

I love your videos and have learned so much. I have bought several eye shadow palettes, but I have a problem when applying any of them. When I brush them on, they tend to flake down below my eye. It doesn't wipe off without adding color to at least an inch below my eye. What am I doing wrong?
Great question and something a lot of people experience! That is known as eyeshadow "fallout" and typically happens with softer eyeshadows. Three things:
1) Tap off your brush on the side of the palette before applying the shadow to your eyes. This removes any excess shadow that is not attached to the brush hairs.
2) Use your finger or a flat brush to press shimmer shadows on to the lid.
3) Do your eyeshadow first before concealer or foundation. Then use a little almond oil on a q-tip to clean up under the eyes before applying concealer, etc.
I have dry skin but struggle with ‘raccoon’ eyes. Does that mean I have oily eyelids?

I will link my last salon video below and have it start right when my stylist is discussing the length and shows how she cuts the top. It's various lengths from the crown forward so I think this is the easiest way to explain it😘

Great question! I would try using a slightly damp sponge to tap off any excess concealer, foundation, etc. that has settled in the crows feet and then press in a little setting powder with your damp sponge or a powder puff and see if that helps😘

Thrive is the absolutely best smudge proof for me. I have even tried Blinc and Tarte and they smudge on me. So frustrating
Maybe you’ve explained it and I just haven’t heard-why do you use different mascara for the upper and lower lashes? Also, not exactly on topic but since it’s on my mind, have you tried eyebrow stencils? I’ve seen them advertised and was just curious if they’d be worth the investment.
Good questions! Because my lower lashes are quite long, they touch my under eye area and nearly every mascara (except tubing mascaras) smudge on me. While I do like the length that tubing mascaras give lashes, I've never found one that gives me quite enough volume so that's why I use a more volumizing mascara on the upper lashes. As for eyebrow stencils, I have a video coming about the ads you are probably seeing. But in the mean time, check out this video where I test out a different option😘

What is tubing mascara?
When it coats the lashes, the mascara forms a tube on the lashes thus preventing the usually issues with smudges and flakes. To remove it, you use warm water and press the lashes between your fingers and the tubes slide off the lashes😊

I’ve noticed sometimes my liner seems to almost bleed in my outer corners and down…doesn’t happen frequently but never could pin down why…..I’m now almost 100% it’s the eye cream!! In a pinch I was using an eye cream to clean up under my eyes. It’s leaving the area too emollient and doesn’t absorb well….
