Urgent: Hello, I wanted to warn you that you displayed your network settings in the video. I'm no hacker, but I world think a hacker could use that info if they wanted..??
My menus were different than yours, so it was hard to follow some of your directions. Once before, I had tried turning off the thing that shuts you down for not saying "yes I'm still watching". That only worked on the roku channel. But your directions actually worked! Thank you, thank you! Once I realized your hints worked I came back to give you the thumbs up you deserve.
The cycle scrollable ads setting was missing on my 3810x-streaming stick software update checked today last update 5/23/24 I tried the other settingd but no luck. Any thoughts?
Thank you for helping everyone protect their privacy. The ad banner removal at the end seems to be a problem for a number of people including me. I don’t know if it’s possible to help or if ROKU got wise and made it harder to remove. If you are collecting info on an attempt to find another way of helping people remove it here is what I tried. I am using an old Emerson tv with a ROKU Ultra LT. After getting to the secret menu I changed the Cycyle Home Screen banner ad server to Demo 3 and restarted the Roku by going to system->power-> system restart. It rebooted and the ad was still there. I repeated the same steps alternating from Production, QA-QA3, Staging-Staging4, Demo1-Demo3. Thank you for your advice.
Everything went great, except the ad on the right side is still there. Also, an ad in the bottom left-hand corner for peacock 99 cents for two months. I checked and rebooted twice. It shows scrollable ads as always disabled, but the blasted things won't go away. Thanks for the tips! 🎉
Screensaver is actually a good thing as some TVs can get burn in from sitting on a single screen too long. Turning it off is a bad idea. It doesn't take that much for system resources to use.
It depends on type of TV you have. Not all types of TVs are at risk of burn in. That said a lot of people these days have OLEDs and those you absolutely have to worry about burn in.
@@Grasshopper-MediaPlasma….🤔Must have low watch time on it. Enjoy it while It’s still working especially if you were the person that probably shelled out 3 to 5 grand they costed when they were brand new. Remember don’t store them laying down.👍
On the subtitles menu, a tip for you is to have it turned on for replay. If you haven't heard or understood what someone says, rather than have to keep rewatching the same bit of film over and over to get what is being said, subtitles on on replay will show you what they are saying.
I use that one too….stumbled upon that setting quite by accident. But I still can’t remove the large square on the Right where Roku promotes movies. Home button 5 times, then the directional arrows was a “no go”. Even when I slowed down the video & wrote down each command (settings, network, remotes & devices, settings, secret screen 2)… just didn’t work for me. But more importantly, I’m much happier with my updated privacy settings!
Me too, what I really wish is that they couldn’t start campaigning til 6 months before the election, like in Australia - THAT would be GREAT, instead of 2 years of that mess
Im just SOOOO happy about the "bandwidth saver" I like the TV on low while I sleep and it shuts off and i have spent hours trying to figure out why?! Thank you!!!!
Nice, cheers. Personally I turn Auto-adjust display refresh rate on, on mine. I find it provides much smoother playback with less stuttering, at least on my ancient TV in the lounge. The downside is the glitches you mentioned, it often takes a moment while the TV adjusts to the new input and outputs a black screen for up to a couple of seconds, which can be quite irritating when watching content with ads, as it will happen each time a new one loads. I find the improved playback quality worth it the minor irritation, in my use case.
I have been considering getting ROKU, but with just me and my older brother. We have stuck with DirecTV. I love my DVR...Thanks for the video.. I will save it.. hugs
Thank you so much for the info! 😊 I had to go back into "secret menu" and change the ad banner settings to Demo1 in order to remove the ad, so my roku may be a bit different. But again, thank you. And btw... I'm digging your channel name. 😄👍
Thanks so much! All made sense it’s unusual for my poor little pea brain and what I usually can understand. Thanks! Now how can I get a list of the live tv guide channel list. Hey Doc. The ad banner on my homepage is still there, even though I double checked the settings and restarted the Roku twice. I even powered the Roku stick, and TV, off and powered them back on, and the ad banner is still there. I’m using a recent Roku 4K streaming stick connected to an LG OLED 65 inch TV. Is there a certain amount of time that has to go by for this change to take effect? Please advise.
I followed your instructions to get rid of the big ad banner and it didn't work. The big ad banner is still there. I went thru the steps multiple times and it's still there.
Roku used to have a setting that was somewhat hidden that would force the Roku to use a lower bit rate. Frankly 1Mbps gives a picture that is quite suitable for me. Unfortunately Roku discarded that feature. My internet has a monthly download limit and once that is hit the speed is reduced to something similar to dial up modem. I have to use satellite internet because there is no wired internet available to my house. I live on an island which is paradise. But the monthly limit can be used up in one evening of watching Roku which is always running at the fastest rate it can get.
I will definitely give you a thumbs up on this one thank you for this I've used Roku for years and didn't think about any of this. Any idea how to clear the cache on the Disney Plus app so it will stop starting the next episode at the end where it left off?
I don't have the power option in the settings you went thru.. I had everything else and did all you suggested. Where might I find that power setting ??? Thanks.. liked and subscribed.. your awesome !!!
i just purchased 2 roku cameras to monitor my elderly mom at her house. My question is......if she downloads the Roku smart home app on her phone, can she put my moms cameras on her phone when she's at her own house and start logging in to see on her phone with the app, who's at my moms house and eavesdropping and such when not at moms house?

@@nickimontie , It probably does matter which. I have a tv with roku already on there, and also have the plug in roku, and they have slightly different menus.

I think it's funny that he thinks they'll stop recording if you don't want personal ads. We all know they'll just keep recording, just not send personal ads.
