You asked for it in our poll, so you got it - a commentary of Aliens (1986) starring Sigourney Weaver. It is considered one of the greatest science fiction/horror movies ever created from the mind of James Cameron. Easily in the top 5 best of its kind. It's one of those rare movies that outshone its predecessors in many ways.
In this commentary, I explore what makes James Cameron's classic movie such a big hit and enduring classic.
Buckle up, get the popcorn - it's not game over just yet!

One of my favourite films and an absolute stone cold classic. Everyone involved is at the top of their game

Spot on breakdown. I enjoy your breakdowns a lot. I too, think that the dropship immediately dusting off after the APC is away is one of the best shots in the film.

Thank you! Created this one based on a poll. Glad to see there is another dropship shot lover. Just a really well-executed scene!

One of the first movies I saw in the theater. I was six, my Dad was out of his mind to take me. I was freaking out the whole time but internally. The scene that stuck out the most in my young brain was when bishop gets ripped in half at the end. I thought it was real. 😂

I watched it as a youngster, too. Very scary. And yeah, the Bishop scene was crazily well-done!

Funny thing - I watched AvP a few days ago for the first time. I was surprised that I enjoyed it. Look out for a review soon.

Ripley is so badass I always loved her, only action movie protagonist capable of fighting a boss battle on a forklift

It's such a great scene and largely because of those marvelous mechanical sounds. Sound engineers did a really great job.
And imagine the puppeteers having to choreograph all of that. 😳

@@notallthatbad I just rewatched the scene and I really wish I could see what's going on behind the scenes, how many people are on set moving the queen and the robot? Everybody made such a great job!

Cool. I'm glad that your sound quality is improved. Still not great, but definitely better.

You cant fully analyze or understand aliens until you recognize the 3D cinematography that James Cameron is pioneering. Until you can see, recognize and understand the No 57 or No 4 or any other number in the background, an why they're there. Cameron is breaking the 4th wall with art direction and set design. But no one sees it. That's the genius of James Cameron. Aliens proves that Cameron is the greatest magician we have working in Hollywood today

It’s like saying the dessert was better than the main, but are they really comparable? Can you compare a t-bone with a baked Alaska?
The first movie is a sci fi haunted house and the second is a sci fi fort under siege.

Better? eh, they are different kinds of movies. Much like Terminator 1 and 2 as well. In both cases I prefer the former, because I just tend to savor tense atmosphere over bullets flying.

Agreed - I think they are both awesome. It's unusual to have sequels which can stand on their own and rival the originals.

Alien & Aliens are two different movie genres with overrlapping themes (mostly jump scares)
one is horror the other action, there should never be a comparison.

The first and second are the only good ones.

Yeah, I didn't watch the subsequent ones. The first two are enough for me!

It was an appalling film and completely destroyed the mystery that made the original so compelling and unsettling. Everything about the first film was alien - from the set design, the music to the creatures. Aliens was just trashy and loudmouth action. It also looked pretty cheap and cheesy.
