It always amazes me how nonchalant Trevor Horn is about his incredible skill with a bass. He was playing and singing Video Killed The Radio Star in an other video and just nailing it. Harder than it looks. Man's got talent.
He's seriously good isn't he? Pitch perfect on Video Killed The Radio Star and here he's just casually killing it.
My fingers would be permanently knotted up if I attempted that bass line... Incredible!
ベース、最高❤、全て最高❤❤
Some people love this song, but some really hate it.
I think you need a little tiny sence of humour to appreciate it.
This was 20 years after the song was released, and now I’m watching this 20 years later still. I’m not old, nurse.
Seriously one of the coolest songs of all time.
It is. Knocked me out of my chair back then....
And hearing it live now!
This piece meant so much to me as an arty kid back in 1984, especially this fused with Tony Hart. Art of Noise, and this track especially was a major influence on me love of music and making my own.
Just perfect, here in 2024 watching a song from 1984 being performed in 2004. Amazing.
Couldn't say it better myself!
Somehow the 1984 music & vibe keeps connecting with us 😎
How mathematically symmetrical.....plus like #42
Time is like a rubber band.
Here I am, in 2024!
Tout bonnement excellent !!
Ce groupe incarne pour moi l’ancêtre de la House Musique ^^
Woo-hoo! That was awesome! Forever a fan of Anne.
Fans of Anne! I love it.
Alan White on drums RIP Alan you are missed!
That is a helluva good bass job
I love that bass it's thumping for sure
Wow man, i keep coming back to this great performance. I just love it
L❤ve this & the original. Kickass
Utter Perfection!
Classic Art Of Noise
That was awesome, one of my favourite tunes from the Rishton Methodist Youth Club 🎉
Amazing
Trevor in the zone.
The girl who provided the ‘hey!’ sample (Camilla Pilkington-Smyth) just seemed to disappear without trace, despite her voice sample being extensively used.
over great!
Just think, the little girl in the original video is about to turn 50. Greetings fellow old timers.
Only 40 . I am 55 ans in 1984 I was 15, the little girl was between 5 to 8
When I was a kid, I used to think Les Claypool was an awesome bass player, but listening to Trevor, he isn't even close :)
je crois que chacun a un morceau qui l'a marque de ce groupe.
Pour moi c'est Camilla le premier.
Puis j'ai ecoute 'who's afraid of'.
Des lors je guette leur influence dans la musique d'aujourd'hui.
Great video. The tune sounds like an arrangement of Bert Weedons guitar boogie shiffle, anyone enlighten me?
START THE CAR!
How many grooves ? Many
I've still got the 12 inch of this record!
Remember when cds first came out and they were labeled aad. Ah yes.
эплха времени, моя молодость, но далеко не мой кумир. играет он не особо хорошо. мой кумир того времени Ричи Блекмор. а вообще я любил всегда Дорз)
а это лишь напоминани е о молодости и полное фцфло)
"I just need a bass!" That's possibly the biggest understatement Trevor Horn's ever made... 😂🙏❤️
Amen. I just wish I could find a clip of Trevor playing with Chris Squire. ❤
Do you think he’ll stick with it and maybe he’ll make it work 😂
@@martinadams5893 🤣... He hasn't got many other career options he can choose... 😂
@@melindamccormack4721 I can't look into the future, but I think the kid will go pretty far with it. He's got some skills.
Holy crap, this should not be possible, live performances in studio perfection. Professional artists perform perfectly.
This is truly what it is about...The ART of Noise !!!
Trevor, Anne and the Art of Noise. Simply superb.
Simply superb. Is spot on Bro!! What a talent Trevor is!!
Who needs a Fairlight if you have a band of 25 tight musicians?
I never thought this classic could be played live. Trevor Horn & co proved me wrong. Absolutely fantastic!
Totally agree! Amazing performance!
we're on the same page!!!!
I think when Trevor smiles and shakes his head at the end, he's thinking the same thing! 😂
It's just mad how good this is!
I thought that as soon as I saw the thumbnail! 🤣 Pulled it off, sounds great! 👍🤘👍
That little girl in the music video used to freak me out when I was a kid. lol
Great tune, well played by all but *that basswork* 👌
Just for the record that the most important thing in Art of Noise was Anne Dudley, she did orchestrations for all the music names ZTT label, she has been making classical, film music for a long time, I'm glad to see her here on stage
Anne Dudley is brilliant and doesn't get the credit she deserves.
@@elco6400 Agree
Most important? Nah.
They all work in unison. There is no one more important than another!
As someone who loves Music and respects the artists I never ever make such comments.
I played this as a DJ for so many people. This performance is so impressive, it literally makes my heart skip beats. Love this.
Me too. 🙂with some Leftfield, Orange Juice and Blancmange
Its now 2024 and this is one of the best since 1984 for me.
The concentration when Trevor's playing then the look on his face at the end when it went off without a hitch!
Saw them in '84 with Max Headroom, Dick Dale. Feel fortunate to have seen them.
Someone wake the crowd, the song has begun.
Terrific....I had completely forgotten, to my shame, just how good this track is. Well done to all.....a classic of the 80's.😊
"Live versions are worst than studio ones.
Trevor Horn: Hold my beer"
Never envisioned seeing/hearing a live version of this tune... Too cool.
Like others have posted, I'm here to see a classic still beautiful tune from 1984. I was 28 when this dropped and this strange band with the most beautiful sounds graced my ears. Been a fan ever since. Yes, this is amazing. Going into my Favs for sure.
That drumming is insane..listening to the drums it sounds like it is in a constant uptempo..magnificent bass and awesome to see it live.🇦🇺👍
To be in England... with the piss poor weather, women, and food? No thanks.
That bass is insanely good!
The energy of the drummers, great show. Fantastic play
It didn't hurt to have the drummer from Yes playing along!!!
I love this track. I didn't realize Trevor was so talented on the bass. I love how this track starts. Trevor is laying down the baseline and then the drummer kicks in and says let's kick it up five notches and kicks up the tempo and that makes everybody smile. That's sort of my favorite parts of this song. Trevor's like yeah bring it. Overall 10 plus
Drummer hitting those skins like they owe him money! love it
such a treat to have this great classic played live! one of my absolute favorite songs ever
Super bass playing! A great band, top arranger on keys and the deliciousTessa Niles. What more could you want"
Long live Alan White!
If Trevor ever reads these I hope he realises how much of an influence the art of Noise have been on music.
Also anybody reading this should check out the Rhythm Scholar remix of Close (to the edit) for one of the finest reworks that I've ever heard.
Would've been cool to have Chris Squire sing his previously sampled voice live, since he was there.
Trevor is beast of a bassist!
So good, so amazing! I loved this song in 1984 and love it today and I love seeing Anne and Trevor perform live in 2004!
This is brilliant absolutely loved the art of noise especially peter Gunn 😄😄😄😄 Trevor your a legend thanks for the memories 👍👍👍👍👍jx
It's just so ridiculous how amazing this is
BUT the real question is …. What kind of car is it 🤔
Superb. I was 11 when this tune was in the UK charts and I loved it. Never seen the Art of noise but this is an amazing thing to hear live courtesy of our own Trevor Horn, who I have also never seen playing any instrument despite knowing several tracks that he produced. (next up: Video killed the radio star???)
Ok Here is the history of Industrial Music: 1. The first big Industrial worldwide band was COUM TRANSMISSION in 1969. Then, in 1970 the iconic Kraftwerk released their first album. Next Throbbing Gristle unleashed in 1975, I think. Then, I believe in the early 80s Rock It by Herbie Hancock, other Industrial innovators to mention, KMFDM, Cabaret Voltaire, Front Line Assembly, Front 242, Rammstein, Skinny Puppy, Lou Reed's "Metal Machine Music", The Art of Noise blew the doors down with their massive hits like Beat Box, Moments In Love, Peter Gun Theme, and Close To Edit. Then Yello had a hit with a song called Oh Yeah, Next Nine Inch Nails did Industrial music with style. Then in the 2000s Lady Gaga's song Bad Romance. I may have missed somebody. But that covers most years.

Insanely good performance of an amazing milestone of a track!
What a brilliant song and performance!
Unfortunately wasted with such a dead audience. This deserves a much more appreciative crowd 😢
Had this been performed in Queens NYC the crowd would have gone absolutely nuts!
great song, well played, shite video. That glassy fairlight lead? Naah- let's keep watching Horn on bass. Every cue was like that. It's as if whoever edited / directed this just didn't care about the music.
It took them nearly a full minute to all get synchronized at the same tempo. Must have been bad monitoring.
Trevor Horn is friggin brilliant, one of the most prolific producers of the 20th century in my mind, you always knew precisely what to do - as one of my production influences, always was curious about what Tears for Fears would sound like if Horn had gotten ahold of them... Ann Dudley, as certainly a contributing factor, I had to remember just how many hits they had.
Funny to think that Into Battle and Close to the Edit were not immediate hits. They were played mostly by pirate radio stations by scratch DJ's before they got any traction on radio 1.
The music videos that were done back in the day never did this track justice. It's something that has to be experienced live to be truly appreciated. Trevor, Anne, and AoN were all spectacular!
My first vinyl was Plastic Age in 1981, was thirteen years old, and after I fall in love of Art Of Noise I eard Yes. Your sound follow me all my life during ❤
Amazing musicians!!
Who knew Trevor Horn could get so funky?
Come to Tampa Bay Trevor!!! PLEASE!!!!
Этот отстой говорит о том, что ничего нового не будет...а конкретно, это танец зомби...MJ его исполнил в клипе Триллер....да, извратили всё...всю уникальность, весь вектор оригинальных героев...
Almost perfect, but after the break (from 2:16 ) timing and rhythm has not the original tense.
Awesome track for sure and great hearing it played live. I need to learn that bass line asap. Almost has me feeling though like someone is rushing but somehow it still all falls together.
They have their own genre, nothing else like it.
@TrevorHorn were you the original creator of that "art of noise - close" mix ?
Not sure what's better Trevor's bass playing or his smile at the end - thank you for your music maestro
I loved the album - bought it back in the 1980s. I liked the whole album but Close to the Edit was my favourite track.
I finally figured out why you call it the Art of Noise. Superb job ❤️BTW: I follow you on Twitter and IG using different names…I didn’t realize I was an old fan until I seen your show at the Greek Theatre on June 7. The Bugles did an outstanding job too…❤️
The whole show is amazing start to finish but pulling off Close to the Edit live is mind blowing.
Best bass line ever. You are not allowed to debate.
Who’s debating? Not I…
😆😂🤣👌👍
Actually just Guitar Boogie for the Age of Plastic.
this composition is perfect.
this should be the last one that I ever hear.
Fantástico, increíble, espectacular 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
just fukn ridiculous how phenomenal this performance is
Definitely one of my favourite art of noise tracks sir ❤ especially this live version. 😎👍
Moments in love would be another
Incredible talent!
UN. FREAKING. BELIEVABLE!!!
RIP Alan White.
Look at that crowd. What a bunch of squares.
So he Just picks up a bass and does THIS?
Damn!! That bass tho!! Always wanted to see someone accomplish that on the bass!!
Absolutely LOVE the Bass.🎸
The drum fastened the tempo when stepped in. Hm.
THAT DRUMER IS "KILLING " IT!!! VERY GOOD 👍
Pretty sure it's Paul Robinson- fantastic drummer
One of the drummers is Alan White
Alan White of Yes...who is actually playing his own sampled loop from the original recording! META EPIC!
Hairs on my arm raise just hearing this...
Trevor Horn is stupidly talented.
