RIP Chris Squire and Alan White, gone but not forgotten.
Lovely to catch this now
So true thank you
Spot on my prog rock friend.
I had no idea Trevor could hit those "Anderson notes." Holy shit... he is a great singer.
Agreed.
He's a great everything guy. Legend.
Maybe. But not here tonight 😮
@@kerrydevereux7798 And here you are, yet again slagging off. Do one.
He wrote the song, so it's already in a key he's comfortable in. Check his demo version on his 90124 album
The musicianship on display here is obscene. Just the highest level.
Yep. Every performance at this concert is just top notch. The thing which amazes me the most is how Horn managed to arrange all this to work live. I mean, in the original there was a LOT done in production and engineering. Instead of using backing tracks, this is performed with a ton of world class session musicians doing every little noise and keeping it amazingly tight.
Tighter than an eagle's ass in a powerdive
It's great to see Steve Howe and Trevor Rabin playing together. Thank you Trevor Horn for making this possible!
I’m not sure Steve Howe’s guitar was plugged in lol. J/k
They were great together on the Union tour back in 90-91. They opened with Yours is No Disgrace with extended solos for both guitar players. Both virtuosos yet about as far as you could get from each other in terms of style. The contrast was amazing. That show was such a wonderful mess. 😂
The Union tour was 91-92
was going to say, they actually sound great together. Great contrasting but complementing styles.
Potenza del denaro.😀😀
@@meandmyEV Steve's guitar is very much plugged in, I'd say it's even slightly louder than Rabin's for the vast majority of the song. Right channel of the stereo mix.
Time for Trevor Horn to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!
Excelente debe ser considerado en el.salin de la fama
For a second there, I thought you wrote Trever Horn should be indicted into the hall of fame!
@@andywellsglobaldomination I said Trevor Horn....it's Donald Trump that should be indicted!
@@wms6101 True, but he deserves to be inducted separately as a producer. Just look at all the acts that participated in the 25 YEARS OF POP Prince's Trust show, and you can see he should be honoured individually!
Listen kids..this is called MUSIC
Never miss a chance to shit on young people, these classic rock youtube comment sections. What the fuck did they do wrong, get born in the wrong year?
yeah ! tell me about it ! the poor devils are being spoon fed on crap from the like of T.S and E.S - so what chance do they stand in terms of having the sounds in their minds to create solid music themselves !
So so true. 👍
Good old times.🤟🏻
Dude, you sound so old right now.
Live production at its best. The entire show is incredible. Bravo to the guys behind the board. Trevor, you have always been my music hero. Your video was the first we all saw, and it changed our lives forever. You are the best musician/producer on the planet. Look back on all the artists you groomed into superstardom. RIP Linda Allen.
yep.
Well said. Yes. ❤
Steve ´s solo improvisation in the end brought a cool jazz moment.
It's the best solo he ever played on Owner imo.
sounds straight from The Yes Album!
Trevor filled Jon Anderton's vocal out beautifully. It's not an easy range to carry off, let alone emulate the timbre.
One of rock’s greatest songs ever !
Pop. Not rock.
@@morbidmanmusicit’s rock.
Exceptional voice registry… brilliant rendition 👏👏👏
You never know what will happen when these egos combine, but it was awesome...And I love Howe laying out a near virtuoso backing track with jazz improvision. Damn that guy can play
トレバーラヴィンがここまで歌えるとは知らんかった❗最高❗
When I was in high school I played this song playing drums in a cover band at the high school festival. Since the drum kit didn't have those high toms heard in the album version of this song, I played those fill-ins with the snare, just like Alan White did in this video. I took huge flak for that, everybody saying it didn't sound like the recorded original. Well, I feel I am vindicated!
That bass tone is incredible. RIP Chris Squire
Steve's backing guitar is so nice !
He did some lead, too….
A rock group with Steve Howe as a backup guitarist..who’d have thought that possible!
Genio Trevor Rabin!
In '84 the two Trevors helped Yes to remain vital introducing a whole new generation to their unique sound. This song was the tip of that sword. Overplayed? Classic Rock sees to it, but it doesn't diminish its greatness. The complexity and woven different parts keep it interesting. A shot heard around the world that still rings.
Trevor Rabin co wrote this song, and was sung by Jon Anderson on vinyl, and when he is around on tour. This song was the only Yes song to hit number one on the Billboard
hot 100 chart .
I've loved Chris Squires bass playing since 1971. He swings.
Two great guitar players of Yes, each a different style. Great vocal and song mostly written by Trevor Rabin who brought a great edge to the band in the 80s. Trevor Horn who saw the song's potential and his production magic made it a hit. 😃🎸
Who is the singer?
Trevor Rabin.
Steve went to found Asia, not a bad deal for him 😊😊
@@palcar2Steve Howe wasnt in Yes when they recorded and had a Worldwide hit with Owner of a Lonely Heart .
He was already in Asia at this point .
@@skyytheater Trevor Rabin is South African. He was in a South African band called Rabbit!
An explosive performance. It really knocks you out.
That Steve Howe solo at about 4:30 was sooo cool!
Great to see so many comments in appreciation of Trevor Rabin's vocals, but you shouldn't be surprised. As any Yes fan of this period will know, he wrote this song and most of the others on 90125 and Big Generator. So of course he can hit the notes, he wrote them with his own voice. Check out his 90124 album
I Love this version. Brilliant musicians. Howe at 4.40 was that lovely Yes guitar sound
What a powerful performance ! Still an explosion of sound 🎉
I love all versions of Yes, this is just phenomenal! Trevor hitting all those Anderson notes is wonderful!
The 80's have never sounded better than in the 21st Century!
Steve is such an underrated guitarist
Steve is always a bad ass.....fantastic
That bass grit! Nice.
I first saw this in a mall on Michigan ave in downtown Chicago. It was on a huge screen in the mall. I just got off of work and when I saw this I was surprised that Jon wasn't there but thought it was a great performance.
Killer song, Killer solo, I literally changed my life when I heard this song, only had the 7 inch back then, the second break came as a reeaaalll surprise! Thank you Trevor!
Fantastic song!!!
So good. Real music kids 😂❤ 🇬🇧
Cette version est fantastique ❤❤❤
Even tho its a Trevor song, I love that Steve Howe made it his own (classic Yes) in the jam!
God this is mixed so damn well
È davvero incredibile come il solista ripete sempre fedelmente il solo del brano senza mai cambiare di una virgola
Great sound, WOW ! Great video Thank you
The "Drama" line up minus one Trevor plus another, Great stuff!
A piece of musical history ❤❤❤❤❤❤
No replacing Jon, but this guy is CRUSHING IT!!👍🏽 and the rest of the musicians are so damn good as well!!
^^^
By "This Guy" are you referring to Trevor Rabin , "The Guy With The Stratocaster"?
He's the guy who wrote "Owner of a Lonely Heart" (music-wise, it's HIS track)
Jon appears to give himself perhaps more credit than he deserves with this track (esp' "if" you hear Trev's original drafts) & yes, Jon IS sadly absent here !!
I was already a huge fan of Trevor Rabin, before Chris Squire asked Trev' to join
On the day I first learned he'd joined "YES" I nearly kicked-over the expensive tin of "Sadolin" that I was using to re-paint my Mahogany front door with !!
@@hawnyfox3411 I suppose. I’m not familiar with him. I just know he’s not Jon.
@@WrvrUgoThrUR i feel you bro. But having seen Jon struggle for several concerts then seeing the guy doing so well, living his dream and the amazing job the sound man did on the shows with the new guy so I surrendered and enjoyed myself. Cheers. Aging Rock bands is a tough call sometimes.
"This guy" actually wrote the damn song :P
Jon is on tape mixed in too.
Trevor, best producer EVER ❤
Cara, aí é um conserto 🎉
RIP to the most excellent sound of the cow-bell on this song! #gonebutnotforgotten
I would have given anything to have seen this live
Crazy good bassline and crazy good tone. Nice sound engineering to have it be so prominent in all those instruments
Great line up super version guitar solo awesome
absolutely brilliant, steves prog solo fits really well too
That was wonderful. Damn that was great
Steve's rhythm guitar is quite tasty as is his solo.
It's because it is a Trevor Horn production that half the Asia team plays 'Owner' together. Here, Howe and Downes. Wonderful Howe solo in the closing section!!!🤩
Trevor is a really good singer and blends with Jon well!
Great song, amazing vocals and fantastic band !
Never saw this version of Yes--wow
The G R E A T times forever , Thank you YES
Wir hätten die disco damals nicht überlebt, ohne diesen song😂
Calidad de los 80 , extraordinario de otro nivel
Love this version. I love it even more that Howe is taking a back seat to Rabin. His contempt for Rabin’s impact on the band is quite evident. Don’t know why. They’re both brilliant musicians. Steve was the only person that had negative comments about the Union tour. Everyone else said it was fun.
All that being said about Howe, his rhythm, fills and solo at the end are quite splendid.
one of my alltime favourites
Outstanding production, as a recording and in this live performance, even through the tiny speaker in my phone 😍
Trust me, it sounds just as incredible on nice home stereo speakers. The production values are at 11 on this.
Thanks Trevor
Unbelievably great Live version ~ of a great song!! Sublime musicianship 🙏👏💛👊
Still such a great track - I loved it from my early days and still do. Thank you!
Just freaking awesome!! I love “Yes!” I still have this album in “cassette”
Magnifique performence, quelle patate :D
Every couple of months, I come back to listen to this. So wonderful. The only thing missing (obviously Jon Anderson) is a Rick Wakeman key-tar solo. This STILL might be the ultimate live version of the song by
Somewhat -YES.
They also played it at the hall of fame in 2017, and Jon Anderson was there along with RW and Alan

R.I.P. Chris & Alan 😢😢
A good melody goes a long, long way.
this isn't one. it is more of an ear worm hook. this is a 4 chord rock song.
The irony of the people playing the song on stage. 3 of them were with Yes at the time of the release of the song, while the other 2 were with Asia tracking their own hit.
Thank You for this WONDER!!!!!! 😍😍😍 💖💖💖
Greetings from Prague, Mr. Horn. Magnificent.
Great performance. Anyway: Yes with Horn is underrated. Drama is so different its one of my favourites...
Well not an easy production to pull of live but it's sounds exactly right so thanks for that. Also fun to hear the continuation after fadeout on the single version. Always wondering about those extra minutes of music. Awesome song and performance. Thanks for sharing 😊
whats hard about it, compared to any other song? samples are easy to play back and it is a mid tempo rock song with 4 chords. And the guys singing it wrote it. No Jon, but almost doesn't matter with this lame song.
@@morbidmanmusic hard enough to Trevor not singing and playing his parts simultaneously
@@morbidmanmusic Nothing hard about any music if you are a good enough musician.
Where are all your iconic hits?
Love it! Thanks for all of the wonderful music you created, arranged, and produced!

Thanks so much for share this video, blessings. Great job.

They didn’t miss a beat, sounds the same if not better than so many years ago! Bravo
The BEST era of YES. Change my mind.
Nobody can replace JA though a shame him and steve don't get along better.
Trevor Horn's got a YT channel? Subscribe? Yep, instantly!
I love my DVD of this concert. It's been ripped by myself (personal use only, obviously🙂) for every audio and video device I own, you name it, literally everything. And this track is a personal favourite of mine even though I know sweet FA about YES. That sampled orchestral stab run up and the delayed timing of the stabs preceding it are sublime. A happy accident or pure genius? I would love to know.
What a talented producer and musicians too. Producers are the unsung heroes who give the sparkle to our music and our memories.👍
the song of my youth😍🥰
Trevor Rabin nails that lead vocal, and plays lead guitar into the bargain
He's double tracked by one of the background vocalists, who sounds like Jon.
Steve Howe refused to play this song for many years as he was not in the band at the time of their greatest hit. He was enjoying considerable success in Asia though and should be grateful that Yes was probably saved from financial oblivion at least by having this hit record, if only by generating renewed interest in their back catalogue. Not only that, it's definitely still "prog", not a run of the mill pop song. He appears to have got over it at this stage and plays it like the wizard he is!
A brilliant song , brilliantly played. Don't know if there was always a bit of friction between Trevor and Steve, as they never seem to acknowledge one another in all the videos I have watched .
Дякую хлопче, то самая любима пісня тої групи. Я її ставив на дискотеки в Пітер. Чувак із Червонограда!!!!!!!!!
Nice of Steve to do Trevor's part so Trevor can sing
