    Just purchased one of these. I couldn't be more disappointed in the instruction sheet or this video. No text to read, no close-ups to view, no labels to disambiguate one part from another. It's maddening!

      That was my favorite part too. Now in this step you'll use 4 screws. Which ones? No way to tell. Just use this generic picture of a screw.

      I agree. Very disappointed in the assembly manual provided. also plastic door handles. Door assembly/attachment to grill needs to re engineered. Not happy after spending $1399 on a grill with plastic handles and poor assembly instructions.

    Just bought and built this grill today with my wife, took us roughly 2 hours. Everything went together perfectly. Watching your video the night before definitely helped (tricks like how you position the base and top shelf, etc)
    To anyone watching this before building (especially natural gas version), have a third person to feed the natural gas line through while 2 people lift the top, that would have made it much easier

    I have to agree after just putting mine together. Time to redo the video, 4K, NO music have some discuss what is going on. Zoom in and out as needed to show the screws and what is being done. A few things seemed to have changed so updating the video and manual would be nice. The cable clamp to hold the hose and wire now uses a screw it's not a pop in.
    I will say hats off to the packaging Engineer, it is one of the best-boxed items I have seen in a long time!!!! Nothing was damaged everything was easy to take out. Door alignment is a little bit of a pain as is putting the top on the stand. Not terrible, but it is nice that part comes assembled. A couple of minor things left for tomorrow and then I can do the burn-off. The lighting is nice and like the Red vs Blue. Also, one of the things that sold me over the Weber was the cross channel that will restart the burner if the wind blows one out. Also not more batteries for the starter and placement is much better. No two-handed starts like the new Weber, plus a little longer warranty bumper to bumper.

    Built mine by myself with the instructions in about 3 hours. Don’t listen to people suggesting 3 people to land the grille lol. 2 is plenty, 1 is doable even if you’re just somewhat handy/coordinated.

    this video misses some things. First of all, where are you supposed to use the longer screws? What are the pre-drilled threaded holes for on the sides? And how is the door chain designed to attach?

    Natural Gas owners: The stabilizing bar that attaches in the bottom of the unit (Step 9, Revision C, Feb 26, 2021 Assembly Guide), is not included. Apparently it is not necessary in absence of the LP tank, but the instructions don’t make that clear. There is a slot in the back wall panel for one, but no hole in the bottom for a threaded bolt.

    This was pretty simple and intuitive to put together. Took about an hour using the picture book instructions for reference. Easy peasy.

    Just purchased and assembled this grill before I seen this video, I found the instructions very good and straight forward
    Some may have to be careful with the door alignment it is not well defined but pretty easy, look for the 2 bolts on the video
    Or directions on the inner top of the doors, my only issue was I had too many bolts, I went over the directions 3 times and
    Watched this video and determined it mast be for other variations of this model 500, otherwise very happy with this unit and
    The directions, it satisfies all languages as intended.

    Just received a new Prestige 500 RSIB. Really happy this video existed. My kids and I had the grill assembled in well under 2 hours. The doors are easily adjustable, but mine hung square on the first try (luck!). Some bits were a little tricky, but thanks to the video, we knew what to do (the illustrations in the instructions can be a little busy and hard to sort out). What a fantastic looking grill! Can't wait for our first cook.

    I'm having an insanely dificult time with these self tapping screws for side burner. I have the perfect tip, screwdriver, a weak drill, and a beastly drill. None of it matters. Best I can do is strip the screws. Frustrating doesnt even begin to describe it. Step 20 or around 8 minutes in.

    i got a question whats the size and weight of the grill when it is in the packadge ?

      Fedex lists the package weight as 236 lbs / 107.05 kgs. It doesn't list the size though

    Maybe the assembly instructions were updated since most of the comments as I found them straight forward. One head scratcher were the bolts for the side-burner but they were taped to the other side-shelf and I assumed were for that shelf. Otherwise a very straightforward assembly. Took me 2.5 hours by myself, including fiddling with door adjustments and found out the issue is mostly how level the ground beneath is.

      I was the same! Did your screws go into the holes that the manual identify properly? There is no thread in the holes on my bbq

      @@aindriudoohan4911 yes, there is no thread but they still screwed in. Both the large silver flat and pointed screws work. I used a wrench to torque them in, they are a bit tight and make sure they go in flush especially without the thread in the holes.

    You guys really need to provide better instruction on the door mounts. If I tighten both the inside and outside screws, it bends metal. Do I leave everything loose until the end? Will I have access to the inside screws once the grill is attached?

    At the fourth minute, she installs a rod 4:00, and do not see that part anywhere in my packaging. Can someone tell me if that's essential? What its function is? It looks to be a support beam? Do I absolutely need it?

    Expanded close ups would be extremely helpful both in the video and the assembly booklet. Audio explanation to enhance the video presentation are necessary to point out do’s and don’t as well as tips and warnings

    Its a quality product, everything fits well, but a few words on the instructions wouldn't hurt- Hard to tell which bolts to use on certain parts, I was short on a few and had to go to the hardware store- Waiting on mat before I cook on it- It didn't arrive with the rest of the stuff and I have to hope its coming because no back order notice or anything

    The instruction manuals have no text. This video would be much more informative with someone explaining the steps.
    At the step to put the upper half (lid, burners, etc.) onto the frame, it specifically shows to cut cable ties. There are 5 cable ties under the burner controls that are a bright yellow, that hold a wire along the length. I imagined that these are the cable ties for shipping and needed to be cut (otherwise why would they be this bright specific colour to draw attention to them?), but now the cable the cable ties were holding is sagging down a bit on the small upper shelf under the BBQ...this is not shown in the video. I am not sure if I should replace the cable ties I cut, and if I do, if I need special high temp cables ties?
    I also had an issue with the propane line hose clip, it didn’t fit in any of the holes in the instructions and it broke. Where can I get a replacement?

      Me too on this one. My grill came with 5 white zip ties on wires and one yellow zip tie on a hose. The manual shows two yellow zip ties but does not show or indicate whether they are on wires or hoses (or are they yellow in the manual because it's highlighting them as the focus of that step in the instructions?). Either way, the manual does not match what was shipped. I don't know what to cut and what to leave. I don't want sagging cables if they don't need to be sagging. But I don't want melted zip-ties if they do need to be cut.
      Interesting that Napoleon support actually read this comment and responded with the support line but for some reason decided not to reply to your main question. Perhaps even they don't know what to do? Notice that the video completely skips this step, so no help there.
      Calling in to the support line it's a 50 minute wait because "we're experiencing longer than expected wait times". No surprise there, given the complete lack of text in the manual (or video) and the mismatch between the manual and the delivered product.

    I really wanted to buy one for a built-in kitchen. But I just don't understand how a freestanding one with the sear station can cost the same as a inset one without additional items? Just boggles my mind and makes me wonder about the company.

    At minute 8, when they're putting the grill onto the stand, the electronic ignition is shown hanging from the grill. From the Assembly Guide, it seems that the ignition has a magnetic base and is supposed to rest on the heat shield (not shown in the video). Is anything else supposed to plug into the ignition block? We managed to get our ignition block wedged in between the base casting and the cabinet and our ignition isn't working -- we'll be taking the grill apart to retrieve this part. We would really have liked to have step by step instructions with "words"!! Or at least a legend to the icons used in the Assembly Guide!

    I finished the assemble end up with 5 extra black screws ( the short one) and 4 stainless steel screws no idea where to use them. your video shows you used stainless screw to attached the side burner, but the menu side use the sharp pointy black screw instead?? which is right???? and the door is not align properly exactly just like your video shown.
    for $1500 Dollar Grill I though most of the visible surface including the back of the grill will be stainless, no apparently not!. and the door handle and the Knob all came in cheap plastics?

    The first part that was assembled, the frame to which the wheels are attached, is that also 304 Stainless Steel? If not, what kind of steel is used for that part of the grill?

    Hello, Just ordered this grill and looking at the tools needed for assembly, At 0:02 in this video there is a photo of the tools required for assembly!!! Other than the Rubber Mallet, could you please provide me with a description with sizes of the other 4 tools needed for assembly. Thank you .

    The idea of the video to help people assemble their new purchase is an excellent one however, this video did not help at all. Some commentary would be very useful to explain what she was actually doing. This is my second Napoleon grill. The first one lasted 15 years.

    Can someone please tell me what the length of the side shelf is? I'm a bit tight on space, and I'm wondering if the BBQ would fit if I don't mount the foldable shelf at all.

    A dialog and some close-ups would have been much nicer instead of the music. Just bought it and I am bit confused by the statement on the warranty. It is NOT bumper to bumper lifetime warranty like they advertise but rather has different warranties for different parts. Some of which only have 2-years warranty. I am not sure I would have bought this grill if that was the case. Very misleading.
    First of all thank you to Napoleon for clarifying that the grill does indeed have a bumper to bumper warranty. I will print and save this :)
    I would also like to provide an update after assembling the grill yesterday: The grill was easy to put together, which I did mostly by myself with the exception of lifting the main part of the grill in place. The only part where I had difficulty with was mounting the right shelf with the sear burner as it was not clear whether I needed to use the self-tapping screws that were in the box with the two shelves or the regular stainless steel screws that were in the bag with the screws. I opted for the self tapping screws and it worked fine.
    It was an enjoyable exercise and the longest part of the whole deal was getting read of all the cardboard boxes :) :) :)
    If I may suggest, the two parts that could benefit from a close up was on the installation of the doors to ensure good alignment and on the installation of the shelves, especially the sear burner one. Everything else was super easy to do.

    How do you screw the side burner bolts all the way in? The holes are super tight. Conveniently, the video seems to skip that part.

      To clarify for anyone else seeing your comment, use the 4 silver threaded bots that are taped to the shelf, not the black threaded bolts that have been used throughout the assembly previously.

    If you had some close ups and better lighting in questionable connections would have helped. The top hinge bracket took some thinking. I figured out the inside bolts in the front ARE FOR ADJUSTING the DOORS only, not for tightening.

    Ok, so I’m trying to put mine together and does it matter what side either door goes in? One of my doors has a instruction sticker on it with a chain attached to it. I’m confused. The assembly guide is not clear on what side the doors goes on.

    just put this together, close ups would have been nice; it was pretty easy to put together watched the video a few time and read the instruction, I think the 3 step was backwards but I got it!! I bought this grill unseen. I watched and re-watched many videos mainly from Embers Fireplaces and Outdoor living! Very impressed would have like a few more pieces to be stainless steel, but the parts that were not stainless felt very hefty probably why lifetime warranty !!!

    The instructions on my grill show the door with the writing to be installed on the opposite side. But this video shows the opposite. Does it matter?

      @@NapoleonProducts My grill does not match the diagrams in the manual. Called in to the help line and am still on hold after 30 minutes. Now it's suggesting I leave my number to have them call me back. They will "endeavor" to get back to me in 48 hours. Lovely.

    The side burner and shelves do NOT go on that smoothly. Support suggested that I use an impact drill to get the screws in (funny I didn't see that in the video). On the burner side that won't work because there is no way to get the drill in there to do it. On the shelf side, the shelf won't go on with the rotisserie arm in place (not enough room). It is like the burner and shelf was an afterthought. Waiting for Napoleon Support on a resolution.... Poor design.

      I understand you are frustrated you are experiencing difficulty getting the side shelves on. The screws are self tapping and do require some force to get them in. We have advised you that we are going to provide you with alternate screws, to which will hopefully rectify that concern. We have requested some additional photos for the other side shelf, to determine what is causing the gap seen in the second set of photos you sent us. Once we have that information, we will be able to look into this further to determine what is causing the shelf to not sit straight. We thank you for your patience and cooperation 🙂

    I’m torn between this bbq and a Webber. I really dislike the fact that the doors don’t line up properly in almost every video I’ve watched (including this one) and it’s the biggest complaint from people that have bought this bbq. Guess I’ll keep looking.

    I received this grill as a gift and while I am beyond grateful, I knew this would be a complete and utter fuster cluck to assemble when I saw what Napoleon feels is an "instruction manual". No way to tell what most of the photos wanted me to do. I was happy to see this video and then maddened by the lack of dialogue and instruction on how to properly assemble the grill. This woman doesn't know what she is doing and you could tell the video was cut in spots because she was unable to complete the specified tasks on the page. Couple that with the horrible camera work that blocks much of what she is doing. I would never recommend this grill to anyone I liked even a little. This is IKEA on steroids, especially since this cost a heck of a lot more than any IKEA grill would. It took over a 2-day span to finish because I couldn't take it anymore and had to walk away. Oh, and what about the rotisserie?!?!?! SMFH

    I just assembled this grill within one hour. The manual is easy and very clear. The video was of some help but not essential. I do not understand that there are people out there that have an other opinion. Good job Napoleon! Oh, by the way this grill cost almost double in Holland compared to the US. Still I do not complain.     I thought the instruction manual was bad, but somehow you managed to make a video that is even worse. Literally no close up shots, no dialog/text. Not super impressed so far between the assembly instructions and the subpar part quality. This grill feels a lot cheaper than it costs.

    1. You use drawings that are not in my manual.
    2. No closeups, so it's not always clear which parts are being used. You're so far from the camera, you only give a general idea what you're doing.
    3. There are bizarre cartoons about using what appear to be side cutters in the manual, before installing the grill on the base. You completely skipped this. What does it mean? Am I supposed to cut something?
    4. The manual has no text to speak of, and it applies to two different products. You need a separate manual for each product.
    Where do the 4 zinc-plated screws go?

      This was no fun at all. About 4 hours for one person, and the side shelves still aren't on. Your employees left the power wire to the far-right knob disconnected, so I had to take the grill apart after it was together, remove the gas hose, and use hose grip pliers to reinsert it. You really need to leave a little slack in the wiring.

    Wow in this build the doors are not on very square for a unit that costs $1200. Maybe you should remake video and show how to adjust the doors. I decided not to purchase after seeing this.

      In Holland this grill cost 2400 us dollars. I still think that this is a good purchase. So it is always a matter of perspective. For me the door assembly was easy and square. Do not need video for this.

    This grill comes with, by far, the worst assembly manual known to man. For the $1900 I paid for the Phantom 500 I was shocked. Do yourself a favor and assemble a Yoder YS640 so you can learn from the opposite end of the spectrum and update your manual.

    5 years later and both instructions and video are still criminally unusable:
    - instead of explaining how to deal with misaligned doors, it’s obvious they just cut that portion of the video out; seriously; yes, seriously; head explodes
    - my unit is natural gas (most probably are at this price range) and after noticing that supplied assembly manual doesn’t cover natural gas version installation, I then failed to find ANY natural gas unit assembly instructions at all; they don’t exist !!!! the gas plumbing is a safety component and is entirely different from propane and IS COMPLETELY UNDOCUMENTED; just WTF, seriously, WTF
    - so the gas pipe from the burners has this bright red tag with stern warnings to clamp the gas plumbing just right and then shows an X (don’t do) and a check mark (do) picture to “help” and … the PICTURES ARE IDENTICAL; do and don’t do (or die) are identical pictures; WHISKY TANGO FOXTROT
    There is much more. This is just idiotic.

    Everyone of these assembly videos, people moan and bitch because they can’t assemble a BBQ. If you need help with a BBQ, I fear life may be too overbearing. Get a grip people. It’s not rocket science. And yes it’s an incredible BBQ.
