Removed a section in my camper where the entertainment area is and installed. Works great. Instead of propane furnace heat, I can use this ruclips.net/user/postUgkxATHBlMJwipGgVWseuAFKvDQ_5R4_lywo to heat the camper as long as it's hooked up to shore power. Only thing I do not like is there does not seem to be a thermostat. I'm presuming it has a built-in one so it does not overheat. Really like all the other color options it has to offer.
Bought my Prestige 500 in 2009 and added the infrared burner. 11 years later with no problems and works as good as new, as long as it's cleaned every year.
I really love how honest you are in your videos. I hate watching videos where people praise everything about everything because its sold in their stores. Totally subscribing to your channel and i wish I live near you guys so I could buy all my bbq related products from you.
thanks so much for your feedback. My goal is to educate consumers, and not "sell" product. If there are things I dont like about a product I gotta say it. I dont want to sell something and then have a customer complain cause they thought everything on every product was perfect
The "cooking tub" is the firebox. I'm on year 12 with a Broil King Soverign XLS 90. Both sides fold down (yes the one with the burner) and I think they should on the one in the video too. The reason why I went with the BK was price and features. When I got mine burners on the BK were 5 years and on the Weber were 10 years.. Everybody that I knew with a BK got 10 plus years out of the tube burners, so that was a moot point for me. The biggest factor? If I rhymed off all the features of the BK at a Weber dealer (cooking space, side burner, rotisserie burner, BTUs, four main burners, rotisserie kit) the price was easily more than double. I live in Canada and the service for a BK was beyond anything the two others could achieve because the BBQs were made relatively close. We registered the BK and if there was any issue with it or any added parts for safety, they were on my porch in two days,. I did not respond to their safety notice and they shipped the parts anyway based on my registration address. The sear zone. No. If I turn that BK up to the Pow-R-Zone it will burn charcoal like sear marks into the meat, which I don't want When we were breaking it in it got the flavour bars glowing all orange, the main grids were glowing orange and the top grate was glowing orange too. Burner is great for cooking sides so you don't have to run into the house if you are grilling. I used mine the other day to cook some onions because I didn't want to smell them in the house for a few days. I think that the other grills are prettier. I think that they may have better fit and finish over a BK. After you have multiple grills, smokers, pellet grills, stick burners, charcoal bullets at the same time, pretty takes a back seat. Those are for the guys who brag about the BBQ, not the food from the BBQ. I just need to cook the food. Changed all my burners and the holder last fall for $47. All nice pure blue flames, no hot or cold spots.Seriously, with the extra money I saved I bought a Traeger pellet grill.
I am currently researching gas grills, and this gentleman has become my go-to in terms of what I want and need to know. Only wish I could make the purchase at Embers.
Purchased a Weber genesis II and it’s just awesome. So many extras , it just cooks things so much better . The quality is such a relief. Can’t go wrong with the Genesis II .
This was a very well balanced, comprehensive, objective review. The only area that seemed to get little attention though is fairly significant...burners. The Broil King clearly has an edge over the excellent Napoleon and Weber grills, with its dual-tube burners. The dual-tube burners equalize the gas pressure inside the burner so that the heat is even front to back. Standard tubular burners tend to have higher pressure in the front of the burner and can give you uneven heating. Obviously you can get outstanding results from all three grills. I have had a Broil King Regal for 4 years now, having owned high end Weber and Viking grills in the past, and the high, even heat and range of flame control is impressive.
as someone who has experience with each of 3 three grills, although the tubes may be superior, everything else in the build is of less quality especially the grease flow and waste management on broil kings is atrocious due to the insulated design of the cook box (poor design in my eyes)
Just had my Napoleon 500 in Black Enamel delivered and setup. It is the natural gas model and without the LP bottle in the cabinet it has a lot of storage. This is replacing a three burner Weber grill that is at least 25 years old with a perfect red enameled cover. Both are built like a tank and I expect my Prestige 500 to last just as long. I keep my grills cleaned and maintained, covered when not in use.
I am actually surprised that you chose the Napoleon as the whole video seemed to be promoting Weber. You don't mention the price point of each. That is very important in comparisons but I will assume they are all in the same ballpark.. You point out the pluses of the Napoleon hood and yet the Broil King's hood appears to have the same heat retaining curvature. You point out the lack of stainless steel grills on the Weber but talk about a different model to compensate. The is one of the things lacking in the Weber as well as only 3 burners compared to 4 on the other two. When I cook, I don't cook on the tub. How often does someone need to replace the tub compared to how often do they need to replace the burners, the deflectors the grill plates or the rotisserie or the side burner? Your obsession with the tub seems like a moot point to me. Over the years I have had some cheap grills and never has the tub been an issue on any. I use my grill for a lot of cooking not just grilling. I have used it as a smoker, I have baked meatloaf on the warming rack and a lot more. If the power goes out, it is my stove. I rarely use my side burner unless I want to keep a baste warm. I have faster burners on my campstove if the power is out. My cabinet always gets spider webs on everything so I do not store much in it other than the tank or my rotisserie rod which I wash before using. Weber's are overpriced for the features offered. Build quality is excellent but features aren't. This model is lacking in the stainless grills; # of burners and the lack of rotisserie. 3 major flaws if this is in the same price range as the others. Fewer burners means more wear and tear on each and less versatility for low heat depending on the BTUs and the space being heated. The side burner grate looks very cheaply made. If that burner has good BTUs, that little grate will warp in no time. The fold down warming rack is a nice feature but it is small. Decent cabinet but no tank storage. Broil King offers the best grill plates; best cabinet; good side burner grate; and the biggest heating rack which can be used for baking items like potatoes or anything that you may not want on direct heat. It has 4 burners, rotisserie and side burner and the hood has the same curvature as the Napoleon which you admired only on the Napoleon. With 4 burners you can have the outer two on and bake on the centre of the warming rack. Napoleon has all the features of the Broil King but the stainless grills are thinner than the Broil King. The lights on the knobs is cool but if you turn them off as you leave the grill as one might do, you still won't see if you left one burner on. The warming rack is quite small. overall a good choice though. I don't know why you give credit to one brand only for a feature when another also had it. I do think you sold the viewers short in regards to the Broil King. Not sure why other than an obsession with tubs? How many tubs have you seen rot/rust out within a couple of decades of use? My bias is Broil King due to experience. I chose it over a Weber many years ago. Napoleon was just starting then. At that time, it had the same weight grills as the Weber and well as one burner more, a side burner and a gas rotisserie. The weber had 3 burners and nothing else. The gas rotisserie is far superior to any infrared one that I have used. My Broil King is about 20 years old now and I have not had to replace anything on it. I suggest that for your next review, try going back and forth between them for each feature as you did with the cabinets. Grills; then burners; then side burners; etc.
I got the Napoleon Prestige 500 7 years ago, and until I bought that grill I HATED side burners. Never used them, because they were generally useless. Wish I had the lit up dials though. I think those came out the year after I bought mine. (Naturally.) The Napoleon is a fantastic grill - and with the charcoal insert (which was part of a bonus pack when I bought mine with spatula/tongs/cutting board) it's almost unstoppable. I've done all-day charcoal smokes on the thing ... but it's pretty high maintenance. So I'm adding a pellet grill this year. Easy to take apart and clean, love the slide-out tray for cleaning too. Love it. Haven't had any experience with Broil King, but my inlaws have a Weber that's about 30 years old now. And it works great to this day. Only thing I don't like about the old Weber is the burners run side-to-side instead of front-to-back. Makes it much harder to do indirect heat because you lose so much grill space. Good to see they've gone to a front-to-back layout now. Although I doubt I'll need to replace the Napoleon anytime soon.
Good work on the video. Good delivery and honest opinions. Don’t back down from your playful commentary- people like personality in videos and customer service. 👍 I have the Napoleon Prestige and the Broil King Regal and ill take my Regal all day if I could only have one. The Napoleon for sure has way better fit and finish and is better built but my Regal gets MUCH hotter and it tends to hold the heat better. It has more even heat across the stock grill grates when compared to my Napoleon as well. Maybe it depends what you like to grill but when i want to put a sear on a steak the cover comes off the Regal. Yea the Napoleon has the infrared sear but then if I wanted to cook a steak without fire (I dont) I’d use a cast iron pan and butter/oil and that would out perform the sear station in my opinion. The only bad thing i have to say about my Broil King is that the burners only last 2 years before they need to be replaced but I’m pretty much always cooking on high and the grill gets hotter and hotter faster than my Napoleon. The grease trap on the Broil king is also a weak point and the finish is flaking off the side of the Regal as well after 3 years even with a cover on all the time. Basically the Regal is a jet engine that gets HOT and does it’s job and the Napoleon looks nice and is built better but can’t put a decent sear on a steak. I’ll take performance over theory and style... Maybe i just got a dud Napoleon? 🤷🏻♂️
I live in Canada and in Aug 2012 I bought a Napoleon Prestige 500, and use it 20 to 30 times a year and no issues at all love it. My old Napoleon was 15 years old when I sold it .
Great Video. I was hoping you would pick Napoleon. One thing you didn’t mention and what I find very practical is the wave grate which helps prevent smaller items from falling through. I currently have a Napoleon Genesis which is 20 years old and still working great with original burners! I could see it going for another 5 years.
Embers Fireplaces & Outdoor Living - here is a little tip for you and your followers. If you hate cleaning the grease off your removable components (grates and plates), the easiest, cleanest and most environmentally friendly way to clean them is by putting them in a self cleaning oven if you own one. No mess but make sure you ventilate you’re house to avoid setting of your smoke alarm.
Thanks for the comparison. I didn't even realize the stainless steel grates were available on the 3-burner weber. Speaking of grill performance, I think it's important to talk a bit about grill cooking evenness. A simple toast test to check for hot zones and editing in a picture of all three gas grill cooking-evenness would be sufficient. Another thing to note is that crossover tubes may cause hot spots over where the tubes are, but I'm sure all three of these cook relatively even.
Having gone from Broil-King to Weber Genesis, one of the biggest differences for me was how easy the Weber is to clean. The whole bottom of the "firepit" slides out and you can just scrap the mess off.
Great review. Thanks. The only improvement would be to add comparison of actually using the grills. Same steaks cooked on all three and how they compare. Other comments are that there is a temperature unevenness. Would be good to know if it is true.
Will be replacing a 15 year old Char-Broil soon and pointing out the "tub" construction was worth the watch alone. Great review and never apologize for asking customers how they will use the grill to justify paying a little more. (I never rotisserie and have used my side burner exactly 1 time in 15 years which makes the math and the choice easy for me)
I just put my charbroil down. It was time it was falling apart. And best of all it was sold to me by my neighbour who was moving. Got it for a hell of a deal. I agree with the tub construction that’s worth it’s weight In gold. My friends all have a model of broil king (baron or XLs$ I’m going Napoleon. Thanks for the video. If I’m going to spend money it’s got to be worth my while. I’m picky the only thing I wish the Napoleon had that sliding propane tank holder. But overall not my final decision. The two tier lid the stainless steel grill etc etc. To thumbs way up!
This is a rare grill review. Everyone else thinks every grill they sell is the best. I have been debating on a grill in this price range vs a very expensive grill. Love the features of a very high end grill but also love the value of the Napoleon. You helped.
I enjoyed your review! Thank you! For my two cents, I purchased a Napoleon Prestige 500 in 2017 and it continues to hold up pretty well. I use my grill almost daily, so the price has been well worth it. The infrared burner is awesome. The grill greats and heat diverters are solid. I've had issues with the gas nobs and the igniters wearing out. Napoleon Customer Service was great and replaced them both. I would still stand by my pick. Oh and if you can, go with the natural gas version. I can never go back to propane!
Thanks to your channel I found out about Napoleon grills. Just bought a super slightly used Prestige Pro 450 from a HVAC company that only used it a couple times. Super find at a super price. So stoked to have a grill that is so good. Thanks for doing what you do!!
Thumbs way up for this really helpful analysis. I've been analyzing stuff for weeks and this really helped me out, especially talking about the "tub". I had no clue about that.
Just replaced 16 yr old Napoleon 450 with Prestige 500 Can’t wait for warmer weather. Great review. I generally agree with the assessments. A ng hookup removes the issue of tank looks or intrusion in pedestal storage
I purchased the Prestige 500 a few years ago. The performance of the burners are great. It gets super hot when needed and with 4 burners you can set up a direct heat zone and indirect heat zone very easily. There are some negatives (that I can live with). The knobs are not very sturdy (I had to replace them). The hood thermometer stopped working some time ago and the elevated warming grate didn’t stand up to the heat and grease splatter. The biggest annoyance was the grate over the infrared burner. I can’t tell if the cast iron grate in the video requires seasoning or if it is coated in porcelain. But, the grate over my infrared grill (from a few seasons ago) came with a non-coated cast iron grate. That means it needs seasoning like a cast iron skillet or else food will stick and the iron will rust. But, the infrared grill gets so hot that the seasoning burns off regardless of what oil you use to season. After a season of meticulous care, it still rusted. So, I stopped using the side burner for grilling (though us it to deep fry in a wok). I am eyeing buying the stainless steel grate as a replacement.
I dont give a 2 for 2 i want to know how is the cooking consistently, gas consumption, can i put in lava rocks , can i smoke with it also will it hold a constant heat ...any grill is not promised as used it depends on the customer experience heat thermometer taste and experience experience and pre season of the device
@@richardknappenberger4005 yep. Don't know why that had to do that and ruin it. They could have just let it out and had a nice flat shelf, pretty sure they did that to up sell the pro. Lol.
What I want to know is of these three which do you get the least complaints, warranty claims etc. I bet the weber beats all the others in terms of reliability.
I really like your channel. My Genesis Gold is 18 years old and the only reason I'm replacing it are the new grills feature. I decided to go with the Broil King Regal pro s590. I'm excited and hopefully it's built as solid as the old Webers.
I have a Weber spirit and I take care of it but 3 years in and the grates rusted , the burner tubes clogged, flavorizors disintegrated. Now Weber was good on service and sent me all the parts as it’s under warranty so I can’t complain but I thought I would get more life out it. Maybe it’s the hot humid Florida weather , but I keep it covered too…
I would say the Weber hold there value. I moved 3 times and changed my grill based on my need so its something to consider if you're on the fence. I see Weber's for sale that look apx 20yo but will find a buyer.
Thank you so much for your helpful review! was gonna get the Weber Genesis II as a Bday gift for my DH but ended up purchasing the Prestige 500 RSIB. Its being delivered in a couple days and I can’t wait to see his response. I think he’s gonna love it! 😄
Thank you! This review helps me out a lot with my decision on going with prestige. I fell in love with the Napoleon phantom prestige 500 one of the coolest looking grill on the market.
I've had the same Napoleon bbq for 10 years and everytime I pick up the ohone for a warranty inquiry they honour it no questions asked. I can't say enough good things about this company. Buy with confidence.
Great review. Just got my Napoleon Prestige 500RSIB (natural gas) a couple weeks ago and i love it. Have yet to use the searing burner or rotisserie but looking forward to it. I agree, don't skimp on functionality or quality.
Napoleon Prestige 500 non pro series is a great grill. It compares in price to the Weber S-435 at $1499 USD. The Napoleon has some weakness vs. the Weber S-435. No side storage. Storage under grill is limited by the supports. Doors are cheaply made. The cabinet feels flimsy compared to the Weber. Difficult to put together. The biggest disadvantage for the Napoleon is that it is a much smaller grill for the same price. The Weber has 32% more cooking area for the same price. As the gentleman says in his comparison, features inside the box matter more. Grill size conveniently left out of discussion in his comparison video. If you want a grill the same size as the Weber S-435, you will need to move up to the Prestige 665 which costs $500 more than the equivalent size Weber. The Weber crafted kitchen accessories are very nice. For an additional $300 you can get a smart version of the Weber grill but I think for most people they would be better off getting an infrared thermometer, a quick probe and a probe/ambient temperature alarm system. The Napoleon has some real advantages. The infrared side burner is marginally better than the Weber searing station with the cast iron searing grate. The internal Weber searing station does a great job without using up your side burner. It gets more than hot enough . The rear infrared might make a slight difference when using a rotisserie but frankly I am skeptical. If anything the danger of overcooking the chicken increases with an infrared burner. The Weber is able to maintain a perfect roasting temperature so the difference is minimal. The nice thing is that the Napoleon comes with a rotisserie. You will need to spend extra money to get the Weber rotisserie or an aftermarket rotisserie which is much better than the OEM. The rotisserie is an additional $150 USD. The Napoleon has a more convenient lighting system and nice knobs that are lit and visually show you they are on by change color to red. This is a nice safety and convenience feature. The Napoleon warranty seems better. It is a lifetime on the lid ,grates, castings and stainless steel cook box base. Weber only has a 12 year on these parts. The non-infrared burners etc have the same 10 year warrant as Weber. Weber has a 5 year on non-listed parts. Napoleon has a 2 year on non-listed parts. Those fancy Napoleon infrared burners only have a 5 year warranty and they are expensive to replace. I doubt Napoleon will be able to live up to its warranty 20 years from now when they don't make the part. Maybe they can. So the decision is far from obvious, You might opt for more grill vs. fancy features that might not really make a meaningful difference. I chose the Weber S-435 because I don't like clutter and the Weber crafted accessories fit in the side cabinet and under the grill. I know it is easier to find replacement parts for the Weber. Weber is everywhere. I had to go to a specialty shop just to see one put together. Did I mention that they wanted to charge me over $300 to assemble and deliver. The Weber installation was flawless. I like my decision. I got a much larger grill for my money.
Love my BK but it is harder to clean I think. Not sure which of these three companies supply parts for older, disco models. That can lessen the values long term.
I had a Weber Summit S-470 with rotisserie, from 2008. I used the rotisserie three times in 14 years. It was an easy choice to "downgrade" to the Genesis II S-435 this time around in 2022. BTW, although the Summit's tub was fine, the base panel of the cabinet was all rusted out after about 10 years or so.
Your vids helped me decide on the Napoleon. I forgot the model I went with but I bought it at a local big box store up here in New England. It is not as fancy as this one shown but it has 4 burners. I am generally very happy with it, at least compared to any other grill I have had in the past (all generic brands). My one mention (not complaint, just providing this data as a fairly new owner), is that I thought in buying a Weber or Napoleon that gone would be the days where I wouldn't have to worry about internal grease fires since the sides are sloped enough and the V-shaped burner covers would all let the grease drop way down below the fire. Well, I have still experienced this several times in the 8 months I have owned it. And it wasn't like it was something super greasy, it was regular rib-eye stakes and even once with chicken if you can believe it. So, I think the next time I buy a grill I will try the Weber in hopes that is better than the Napoleon for this one reason. Again, other than this, I am happy with the Napoleon. It starts every time, stays relatively clean, heats excellent and even, looks good, and is definitely way better than any other grill you can get in the low end at the box stores.
It's almost impossible to not have grease fires.. I'm not sure what a webber would do better as once grease gets hot and a flame it's starts on fire. I'd like to hear from webber owners if thiers doesn't start of fire anymore then any other grill they have had.
@@embersliving Weber advertises simmer but they do not really cook or check , Min is 250 degrees. Its nice to let simmer stinky Indian food outside. The simmer is about 200 degrees. Easy put a pot of water on the burner and put in instant-read thermometer.
Great review. I looked at Weber and Napoleon and ultimately decided to spend the money on the Napoleon. Both are nice grills but the Napoleon has the edge, plus, made in Canada about an hour north of where I live. 🇨🇦
Excellent review with honesty and humor. Unfortunately, Napoleon in Switzerland is hella expensive as is Weber. Just got an Outdoor Chef, which is similar to the Broil King. Happy with the price point and features for a grill to last 10 years.
Thanks for the super-detailed review. Considering the Weber Genesis or the Napoleon Prestige. Weber is a fair amount cheaper and readily accessible in my area. Not sure what to do...
I don't know much about grills and looking to purchase a long term grill. That Napoleon looks amazing and I am going to pick it up sometime soon. I love to sear steaks and other meats do that infrared side burner will be a major selling point for me.
Yeah the Napoleon in this video would be a great option for you! The side burner works wonders on searing different meats!! Hope you enjoy it! thanks for watching!
@@Racontact Wow Rob what a POS First day I got it home it wouldn't get over 120 degrees F called CS and the said it was a bad gas hose sent me another one ...lol same problem this is a pricey grill and ya can't cook a burger on it....wrote a letter to the president of the company not even a response....Webber all the wayyyyyyyyy
I understand Napoleon has more features, but I was told and wanted your opinion that the Weber’s main cooking area cooks more even than Napoleon. Gas grills are hotter in the back and Weber designed their gas system to taper down in the back for that reason. Other side note I read that Weber’s repair rate is 1% 😳 and Napoleon is 10.3% which is still very good compared to most brands. Warranty may cover it but constantly repairing stuff stinks.
Story to add :) My father has a 11 year old Napoleon Prestige which he NEVER took apart to clean (he kept the grates clean but thats it). The Grease management system etc was falling a part, clogged burners. He was 1 year over his warranty on some parts and the rest was covered under the lifetime warranty no question asked **here's the best part**... the parts that were out of warranty were sold 50% off!! directly from Napoleon, thats amazing! talk about taking care of their customers! He basically has a new BBQ now.
Great videos - I recently purchased the Napoleon 500 Prestige based on your recent videos comparing Napoleon vs Weber. Again, Great Video! What I noticed on the Napoleon 500 Prestige is, no double lined hood like the Weber Genesis - The Weber Genesis seems to have a more robust (heavier) hood that Napoleon. What are your thoughts on the Napoleon not manufactured with a double lined hood. Seems like Napoleon went the cheaper route with use of a single lined hood, 20 gage, which is surprising for the price point. Thoughts?
@@robertrosell6261 I'm not an engineer, but it almost seems like the webber only has a double walled hood for thier manufacturing process rather then any real function. I'm not sure dual hood will have much affect keeping the temps stable and would also keep moisture inside the 2 pieces if it's not bonded well. I saw webber had this "feature" and wondered if it did much good if it didn't hurt it in the long run. Im trying to see anything about it but don't see much or see webber call it a feature.
The napoleon was a no brainer to me. I like to sous vide my steaks a lot and having that super hot infrared searing station is pretty much why I bought it. In fact I will probably get more use out of the IR side burner than the grill itself.
After lots of research (but not this video), I ordered the Napoleon Prestige 500 RSIB a couple weeks ago. Can't wait to get it! Unfortunately, FedEx is a mess and has it a terminal near me for 11 days now. Ughh! Anyway, I'm hoping for the best with it. So tired of buying $400 - $500 grills that always last 3 - 4 years! A few things I found strange with trying to buy a Napoleon..... Almost no one has them in stock, some sites are now showing 12 - 16 weeks til it would ship. Also, for some reason the warranty differs from different retailers....strange! Thanks for your video review though! Seems like I made the right choice and even got a free grill cover included with it (though, apparently the cover is backordered and won't ship til August). How can they be so far behind in manufacturing these grills? They're losing out on basically the entire grill buying season. I also read that the Napoleon models lower than the Prestige (like the Rogue for example) are made at a factory in China. Though, the Prestige and higher models are strictly made and tested in Canada. That's one more reason to get the Prestige series.
We are glad you did your research! We are certain you made an awesome choice!! But yeah you're right! Covid dealt some damage to pretty much all grill and fireplace companies! They are behind on Manufacturing products. Luckily here at Embers we stocked up on product! We hope your grill arrives soon!! Thanks for watching.
I wish I had purchased it from Embers! I will certainly keep you in mind....my accessory list for the new grill is growing and I didn't even receive the grill yet. High on the list is a SS grate for the infrared side burner.
What's the advantage of an infrared side burner? I've only used mine (non-ir) for frying outside, so I won't stink up the place. Is it better suited for searing sous vide steaks than the main grill? Can I still use pans on the infrared side burner? The Napoleon does look like a very good grill, ignoring the hideous leds, too bad it's x2.5 the price of the weber locally. Oh and you forgot to mention that the Weber's burners are removable for easier cleaning.
Hey folks do NOT purchase the PRO665. Unless your into scrubbing the interior of your grill. I've owned one now for 3 months. Purchased it on sale late December 2019 and just began using it at the beginning of the covid pandemic. Napoleon changed the rear hood design which allows for grease to seep between the stainless diverter plate and rear hood. Napoleon has refused to acknowledge this design flaw and will NOT provide any solution to the issue except that the owner must clean and scrub the interior of the grill after every 3 uses. Thats a chore in itself and a messy one too so I've found out. It sucks!
@@embersliving , Napoleon is not saying anything. They won't disclose "publicly" that there is an issue. I'm thinking that the company has new employee's that simply don't care anymore. A friend of mine who purchased a different model stated also that the company's newer product line is poorly constructed. We both had 15 years of great grilling experiences with our previous Napoleon grills and we both figure that we'll be lucky to get 5 years out of the new ones. When I began removing the lid and rear cover off my PRO665 I found that the grill is assembled with cheap self taping screws. When I reassembled it after cleaning half of those screws would not tighten up. Now the grill is becoming a bit wobbly. Even the side sizzler frame is loose now. The quality for the price simply isn't there. I've owned Napoleon products for many years which include a deck heater and a fire table. Both had issues and customer service took care of it right away at no cost too me. Thats why I purchased Napoleon products. Well that has changed and I find that the new customer support telling me that I need to clean the inside of my grill regularly is a pretty lame excuse. I cooked well over 1000 beer can chickens on my previous grill and never cleaned once. My grilling style hasn't changed, but the quality of the grill is certainly gone. What gets me that the build quality has gone down and the price has gone way up. Corporate greed? I think so as they have no intentions of addressing the issue at hand.
I am a Weber fanboy from way back but I gotta say, if I had to pull the trigger, I'd go Napoleon. Not only does it look better and have a better warranty, I have seen Weber have quite a few quality missteps as of late. I think I'd have to go with the Napoleon.
Great review!!! I think it’s called a fire box… not tub but got it.. napoleon is the way to go.. I think I’ll go with it but have the natural gas run to the backyard
Really appreciate the review. I've been looking forward to this comparison. From a UK standpoint we have 13kg gas cylinders which will not fit inside the Napoleons or Broil King, they have to sit outside them on the ground. BIG PROBLEM with moving the bbq or just general aesthetics. However the Webers ALL accommodate this. Also, you forgot to mention the (very useful) Weber utility which shows the approximate amount of gas left in the tank. I realise this may not be important to you Yanks, but a Brit might be interested.
i have a broil king, 7 years old. entire interior is falling apart. the burners are cracked, the grills are eaten away by rust and can be chipped with my finger, the little bridge that carries gas between the burners simply desintegrated, the hood is also starting to lose some coating, the igniter hasnt worked in years. Getting a phantom prestige 500 now, cant wait.
Thank you for this. One other factor I am considering in this evaluation... are any of these easier to clean than the others? I am specifically deciding between the Napoleon and the Weber
Thanks for your expertise. My broil King 490 Baron pro has a solid tub. Just received it today. Have you seen "tubs" break apart? You seem very concerned with this. Weber and Napoleon seem to have more parts and processes from over seas. Do you have info on those processes?
Excellent review and comparison. I have hard time to make my final decision between prestige 500 and genesis s-335. Prestige is 200CAD more expensive here in Canada. Prestige looks have all functions you may need. But I heard Weber does the best job on even heat. I also read some review about Napoleon doesn’t heat evenly. Uneven heat and hot spot is my only concern about Napoleon. Any suggestions about that? Thank you.
No mention that bigger main wheels make the Weber more transportable over rough paving and that external gas bottles allows a bigger gas bottle to be used.
Would not mind seeing a review between the Blaze and Napoleon Prestige Pro. I realize more bang for the buck with Napoleon just curious how the stack up against each other cooking.
Great review. I really want to like the Broil King, but that sealing... Weber i great, but I'm really impressed about the Napoleon. That will be my next grill especially with a lifetime warranty...I would pay extra for that. Are you sure the Weber Genesis doesn't have connected burners? My Spirit 2 have it + stainless steel and it hides away the gas tank on the side. Oh and you can buy a rotisserie for the Weber.

Great video! I’m in the market for a barbecue and have narrowed it down to the Napoleon Prestige 500 and the Napoleon Rogue XT 625. I’m not sure exactly which to go for as I don’t think I’ll ever use the rotisserie feature and the lights on the knobs don’t seem to be a major bonus for me. I feel the extra burner (5 burner for the XT 625 vs 4 burner on prestige) would be more useful to me. I would love to hear your advice and expertise on which barbecue you would recommend I buy and if the extra 200$ to jump to the prestige 500 is worth it.
I live in Florida I've literally barbecued while we've had a hurricane with 60-70 MPH winds .. never not once did I have a burner "blow out" from wind it's literally laughable. Also I like to zone cook sometimes I have them all on on the right sometimes one on the right one on the left and so on.
@@embersliving .. When your electricity is out it's a little difficult to microwave. Hurricane conditions including tropical storm winds 30-70 MPH winds can last for days. I live in SW Florida and since I've moved here in 2000 we've had several too damn many. In Florida we have a thing called Lanai it's an area that's under a roof but still open to your pool deck / backyard.
I believe that’s the first ever comment on ANY review. This guy is very subjective and thorough . Well done man!
thank you
Bought my Prestige 500 in 2009 and added the infrared burner.
Absolutely excellent review. I was in grill sales for almost 20 years and I recently recommended a Napoleon to a friend and he couldn’t be happier.
Oh yeah they're great.
This guy is great. Never thought I could be entertained watching a video on grills without anything being cooked.
ha thanks
All nice pure blue flames, no hot or cold spots.Seriously, with the extra money I saved I bought a Traeger pellet grill.
great feedback thanks so much!
I am currently researching gas grills, and this gentleman has become my go-to in terms of what I want and need to know. Only wish I could make the purchase at Embers.

So many extras , it just cooks things so much better .
The quality is such a relief.
Can’t go wrong with the
Genesis II .
Exactly you wouldn’t know it watching Napoleon fan boy and his videos.
Great to hear!
@@AJ12-76 yeah you would, you just don't pay attention.
@@ryanp6999 a little late to the party are we?Or are you just a troll?
This was a very well balanced, comprehensive, objective review. The only area that seemed to get little attention though is fairly significant...burners. The Broil King clearly has an edge over the excellent Napoleon and Weber grills, with its dual-tube burners. The dual-tube burners equalize the gas pressure inside the burner so that the heat is even front to back. Standard tubular burners tend to have higher pressure in the front of the burner and can give you uneven heating. Obviously you can get outstanding results from all three grills. I have had a Broil King Regal for 4 years now, having owned high end Weber and Viking grills in the past, and the high, even heat and range of flame control is impressive.
thats great feedback! Thanks so much for sharing
as someone who has experience with each of 3 three grills, although the tubes may be superior, everything else in the build is of less quality especially the grease flow and waste management on broil kings is atrocious due to the insulated design of the cook box (poor design in my eyes)
Very nice! Thanks for watching.
Thank you for watching! We have some more updated videos of this as well if you want to check those out. Thank you .
Although I doubt I'll need to replace the Napoleon anytime soon.
thanks for the feedback
Good work on the video. Good delivery and honest opinions. Don’t back down from your playful commentary- people like personality in videos and customer service. 👍
I have the Napoleon Prestige and the Broil King Regal and ill take my Regal all day if I could only have one.
thanks for the feedback
I live in Canada and in Aug 2012 I bought a Napoleon Prestige 500, and use it 20 to 30 times a year and no issues at all love it. My old Napoleon was 15 years old when I sold it .
great feedback!
Great Video. I was hoping you would pick Napoleon. One thing you didn’t mention and what I find very practical is the wave grate which helps prevent smaller items from falling through. I currently have a Napoleon Genesis which is 20 years old and still working great with original burners! I could see it going for another 5 years.
yeah easy!
I ordered the prestige one day prior to watching this video.
Your final summary is so similar to my decision process.
Thank you sir 👍
We are glad we could help a little! Thanks for watching.
Sparksx yeah. Check out our other videos where we do toast tests. Didn’t mention that cause all three perform great
Having gone from Broil-King to Weber Genesis, one of the biggest differences for me was how easy the Weber is to clean. The whole bottom of the "firepit" slides out and you can just scrap the mess off.
nice
Great review. Thanks. The only improvement would be to add comparison of actually using the grills. Same steaks cooked on all three and how they compare. Other comments are that there is a temperature unevenness. Would be good to know if it is true.
true, we did video that. But they were all so identical it made for a boring video haha. Can't go wrong with the way any of these cook
Will be replacing a 15 year old Char-Broil soon and pointing out the "tub" construction was worth the watch alone.
Great review and never apologize for asking customers how they will use the grill to justify paying a little more.
(I never rotisserie and have used my side burner exactly 1 time in 15 years which makes the math and the choice easy for me)
thanks so much !
You helped.
Hope you enjoy
I have a summit 670, going on seven years. I'm interested in Napoleon now. Thanks for the great review.
Good choice!
I can never go back to propane!
very good points! Thanks so much its great hearing consumer feedback always.
Is there a conversion kit available if I do decide to go natural gas?
Thanks to your channel I found out about Napoleon grills. Just bought a super slightly used Prestige Pro 450 from a HVAC company that only used it a couple times. Super find at a super price. So stoked to have a grill that is so good. Thanks for doing what you do!!

Thumbs way up for this really helpful analysis. I've been analyzing stuff for weeks and this really helped me out, especially talking about the "tub". I had no clue about that.
Glad it helped!
Just replaced 16 yr old Napoleon 450 with Prestige 500 Can’t wait for warmer weather. Great review. I generally agree with the assessments. A ng hookup removes the issue of tank looks or intrusion in pedestal storage
thats awesome
I am eyeing buying the stainless steel grate as a replacement.
yes I would for sure recommend getting the SS Upgrade for your side burner, its a great choice!
I dont give a 2 for 2 i want to know how is the cooking consistently, gas consumption, can i put in lava rocks , can i smoke with it also will it hold a constant heat ...any grill is not promised as used it depends on the customer experience heat thermometer taste and experience experience and pre season of the device
Thanks for watching!

What I want to know is of these three which do you get the least complaints, warranty claims etc. I bet the weber beats all the others in terms of reliability.
I would say old weber models are great and reliable, but I would go with the Napoleon

Maybe it’s the hot humid Florida weather , but I keep it covered too…
It could be weather for sure. I know some of our higer end grills have marine grade steel so they last longer in humid / wet climates.

Thanks for watching!
BTW, although the Summit's tub was fine, the base panel of the cabinet was all rusted out after about 10 years or so.
nice to know
Your vids helped me decide on the Napoleon. It starts every time, stays relatively clean, heats excellent and even, looks good, and is definitely way better than any other grill you can get in the low end at the box stores.
thanks for the feedback
It's almost impossible to not have grease fires.. I'm not sure what a webber would do better as once grease gets hot and a flame it's starts on fire. I'd like to hear from webber owners if thiers doesn't start of fire anymore then any other grill they have had.
Which grill has a side burner that will simmer? Got Weber and the side do not go low enough!
Hmm most of the time we focus on high heat side burners not sure
@@embersliving Weber advertises simmer but they do not really cook or check , Min is 250 degrees. Its nice to let simmer stinky Indian food outside. The simmer is about 200 degrees. Easy put a pot of water on the burner and put in instant-read thermometer.

Does the Napoleon prestige black also have double wall in the lid/hood?
Excellent review with honesty and humor. Unfortunately, Napoleon in Switzerland is hella expensive as is Weber. Just got an Outdoor Chef, which is similar to the Broil King. Happy with the price point and features for a grill to last 10 years.

Thanks for the super-detailed review. Considering the Weber Genesis or the Napoleon Prestige. Weber is a fair amount cheaper and readily accessible in my area. Not sure what to do...
hmm well you cant go wrong no matter what
I don't know much about grills and looking to purchase a long term grill.
Thank you for this review, I'm in the market for a new NG grill and this really helped me make my decision.
Glad I could help!
Just stay away from the napoleon
@@wolfsden3812 why?

Wow Rob what a POS
First day I got it home it wouldn't get over 120 degrees F called CS and the said it was a bad gas hose sent me another one ...lol same problem this is a pricey grill and ya can't cook a burger on it....wrote a letter to the president of the company not even a response....Webber all the wayyyyyyyyy
Warranty may cover it but constantly repairing stuff stinks.
yeah repairing stuff does stink, I am unfamiliar with those stats?
Embers Fireplaces & Outdoor Living what about the evenness of main cooking area? Did you notice which one performs better?
Great Review! Napoleon it is. Please see if you include vermont castings in your next review.
nice! they do not make Vermont anymore
Story to add :)
My father has a 11 year old Napoleon Prestige which he NEVER took apart to clean (he kept the grates clean but thats it).
The Grease management system etc was falling a part, clogged burners.
He was 1 year over his warranty on some parts and the rest was covered under the lifetime warranty no question asked
**here's the best part**... the parts that were out of warranty were sold 50% off!! directly from Napoleon, thats amazing!
talk about taking care of their customers! He basically has a new BBQ now.
That is awesome!
@@embersliving For sure! I don't know if the 50% off parts out of warranty is standard but it's worth looking into!
side note: We do live in Canada
YeH that is part of their warranty. Which in my opinion is the best in the industry
Thoughts?
I never noticed that
@@embersliving You never notice that the Napoleon is constructed with use of single lined hood vs Weber's double lined hood?
In fact I will probably get more use out of the IR side burner than the grill itself.
cool
Amazing Review, learned a lot. Thank you!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you! I am a big fan of Napoleon too
Same here! Thanks for watching
Offbrand of weber is called charrbroil
We suggest Weber or Napoleon
On the Napoleon prestige 500 have you heard any complaints about the stainless steel body rusting?
not yet
What's the advantage of an infrared side burner? I've only used mine (non-ir) for frying outside, so I won't stink up the place. Is it better suited for searing sous vide steaks than the main grill? Can I still use pans on the infrared side burner?
The Napoleon does look like a very good grill, ignoring the hideous leds, too bad it's x2.5 the price of the weber locally. Oh and you forgot to mention that the Weber's burners are removable for easier cleaning.
yes you can. The advantage is the high heat for searing
It sucks!
so sorry to hear that! maybe we can help In some way. Our cook model is a 2019, and we do not have that issue. What did Napoleon say exactly?
I think I'd have to go with the Napoleon.
good choice
I liked your humour and demeanour. Well done 👍
thanks for the feedback
Great review!!! I think it’s called a fire box… not tub but got it.. napoleon is the way to go.. I think I’ll go with it but have the natural gas run to the backyard
good to know
Really appreciate the review. I realise this may not be important to you Yanks, but a Brit might be interested.
thanks for the feedback
i have a broil king, 7 years old. entire interior is falling apart. the burners are cracked, the grills are eaten away by rust and can be chipped with my finger, the little bridge that carries gas between the burners simply desintegrated, the hood is also starting to lose some coating, the igniter hasnt worked in years. Getting a phantom prestige 500 now, cant wait.
thanks for the feedback
I agree Napoleon is what I am gravitating to heavily for all the same reasons it's pretty easy I think ...
yeah Napoleon is awesome
Thank you for this. One other factor I am considering in this evaluation... are any of these easier to clean than the others? I am specifically deciding between the Napoleon and the Weber
I dont see that as an issue with anything. Cleaning is about the same
Would love to see a review on the broil King baron , it looks like they might have fixed the cook box issue and gone with a cast aluminum
we are working on that
@@embersliving you guys are awesome!
Thanks for your expertise. My broil King 490 Baron pro has a solid tub. Just received it today. Have you seen "tubs" break apart? You seem very concerned with this. Weber and Napoleon seem to have more parts and processes from over seas. Do you have info on those processes?
not exactly no
@@embersliving thanks for the response
Excellent review and comparison. I have hard time to make my final decision between prestige 500 and genesis s-335. Prestige is 200CAD more expensive here in Canada. Prestige looks have all functions you may need. But I heard Weber does the best job on even heat. I also read some review about Napoleon doesn’t heat evenly. Uneven heat and hot spot is my only concern about Napoleon. Any suggestions about that? Thank you.
they are near identical with even heating in our tests
@@embersliving thank you!
So the most important thing, when purchasing these things, is to hide the propane tank?
haha yes
No mention that bigger main wheels make the Weber more transportable over rough paving and that external gas bottles allows a bigger gas bottle to be used.
thanks for the feedback
Watching from Canada. Sorry I can't come ans buy it from you but I wanted to thank you for the video! Cheers, you helped me a lot.
thanks so much !
Thanks for the info. Curious why you compared two, four burner grills to a three burner Weber...
Just though they fit in similar categories!
Would not mind seeing a review between the Blaze and Napoleon Prestige Pro. I realize more bang for the buck with Napoleon just curious how the stack up against each other cooking.
We will add that to the list of videos we need done!
Damm, just saw this video is 3 years old 😀Have to do some more research 😀
@@kenneth_jensen We have MEGA breakdowns of every model of both of these series. You can watch them here The MEGA Napoleon Gas Grill Review!! : ruclips.net/video/FFTInRFDYtc/видео.html And then we have The Ultimate Weber Genesis Breakdown!! : ruclips.net/video/MYOtNz91Q8U/видео.html
I posted a rogue vs prestige video if you want to watch it. There are some key differences besides just rotisserie. Check it out!
After using them for 3 years the Weber is the only one that will clean up like new.
thats true
do you only use the small propantanks? over here in norway, almost everybody uses the big ones. 11kg. so none of them fits inside the grills anyways.
yeah
Straight to the point. Thank you.
no
In the UK the Genesis has a crossover tube, strange the American version doesn't.
thanks for the feedback
I live in Florida I've literally barbecued while we've had a hurricane with 60-70 MPH winds .. never not once did I have a burner "blow out" from wind it's literally laughable. Also I like to zone cook sometimes I have them all on on the right sometimes one on the right one on the left and so on.
Haha. Can’t get past the part where you say you BBQ in the middle of a hurricane! Too much!
How are the Hotspots on the napoleons
awesome very even heat
It’s the Prestige Pro that has the lighted knobs, no?
So both the Prestige and the Prestige Pro have light up knobs.
