What I realised is that "Beef" has so many parallels to her personal life... Stay strong queen .
I thought the same thing when watching the movie. Married into a wealthy-respected-japanese family, with a stay-at-home husband, I imagine her mother-in-law was exactly like in the series. The friends who tried to take advantage of her, the rich white people who tried to buy or sell her, I think she got a lot from her life.
What about the "cheating on her husband" part?

As a German looking at it from abroad it seems rather puzzling to me that people in the US seem to make such a fuzz about public nudity, breastfeeding in public or even flashing a (female) nipple, but remain cool when a person is so gross when talking about sexuality. You wouldn't hear texts like hers in German media because they'd be regarded as being scandalously gross and explicit - while e. g. public nudity in certain parks, at some beaches and in all saunas is considered normal. Seems like it's the other way around in the US.

I watched all three of Ali Wong's stand-up comedy specials to see for myself if her comedy routine is not funny. For me, her stand-up comedy was not funny at all. Not even a small chuckle funny. To me, her stand-up comedy routines (all three of her specials) came across like complaining to a mental health therapist. I'm not familiar with Matt Rife. Maybe I'll watch a couple of his stand-up comedy shows to see for myself if he is, as you describe him, not funny.
