I sued a house seller in Italy when my apartment purchase went very bad. Getting through the courts took 14 years. I am sure your case won't take that long, however I would encourage you to ask your Italian lawyer for an honest estimate of when you can expect a verdict. You may have no choice but to move forward with your interior renovations, without a resolution to your window problem. The Italian courts are terribly slow.
Oh wow that sounds terrible! I know they are extremely slow, these type of things have a much quicker process these days though, it should be settled within a year nowadays and it's already moving along nicely. So fingers crossed it won't take too much time.
My sister found out the hard way; never give the contractor or anyone who is working on your project all the money up-front. You could just give them a down payment; maybe one-third. Suing people is long and tedious.
Absolutely, that is the way forward but for this particular order we did not have that option, but for anything else that's exactly what we have done! @@laureneharrington6110

Hi guys! I saw a lot of old furniture in your Villa and all sorts of interesting little things for interior decoration. Much of this requires restoration. And I think such a video will also be interesting to people. So in winter, during forced downtime, you can prepare these things for the moment when you need them. Yes, we have kept the things that were in decent condition but some of the things up on the attic was too far gone and have been trashed.

So very sorry for all the problems with the big house. What is happening with the little house? Have you become creative with the missing window looking out into the yard? Yes, we are living in the stables but we are still missing the large window section there.
Unfortunately no work in the yard at the moment as it will just be us re-organizing the mud that is there 😂

Wow the gods are moving against you. Asbestos remediation is important, make sure they remove everything... Good occasion to revise your plans. Surprised you are still moving ahead with the basement...but I suspect that you are really doing foundation remedial work. Also necessary. House will be ready when its ready.

Yes we are most definitely moving forward with the basement, we are re-inforcing the whole house as well as making it damp proof, then we can use all the space that is down there for various things!

Too bad you have to completely remove asbestos (wrapped?) pipes vs just encapsulate them! (If an allowed option). But if new work is going in those areas, makes sense to be as safe as possible! Gorgeous house & hope the wait lets you enjoy the holiday & realign the project! Fingers crossed the window issue gets resolved soon!

Yes we need the space where those pipes are for the plumbing otherwise I would have kept them inside the wall, they are not doing any harm in there at the same time the house is cracked due to them cutting open the whole house to put that chimney in...

Sorry for the frustrating delays. There are a few things you can do. What about the lovely stair case railing needs cleaning and painting. Also your lovely doors. Wishing you happy holidays.

Yes but we are most likely changing the wood on the railing and it's actually untreated steel and I think we are going to keep it like that.
But yes, there are things to do but we are going to wait with painting for a while until we are a bit more ready inside the house.

Yes we are living in the gym/spa building at the moment so we are not doing any work in there until we can move out of here and into the villa itself.

it's a particularly vicious crime to trash those beautiful original windows. their condition is good, so no excuse there. you could just renew the outter window linings where necessary. well, as they say, karma is a bitch. but a just one i might add. at least, give the windows to a dealer in antique architectural elements, there are people willing to pay good money for things like that.
Well, there is a way to save everything and I am sure there could be a way to save the windows even though some of them have 0 frames left, the problem is they are single glass windows and it's not enough, the house is too cold at winters. We do have some plans for the windows and in worse case they will go to a dealer.
The stucco work looks great, though I profess a small preference for the old vibrant color. Will you be adding any color on trim or details?
Yes there will be colour coming, the house itself will be painted as well as a lot of details that are going to be put back on again, don't worry, it won't look as white and plain as it does now.

But if you make the doors to the outside in the cellar watertight you can do the whole basement. Is it impossible to shut out rainwater through these doors (even temporarily)?
Well, we are building an extension where the doors are and we are digging all the way down to the bottom of the foundation all around the house, the water comes from all directions through the dirt so we need a few days/weeks with no heavy rain when we are doing this type of work as we are going very deep in order to re-inforce the foundation of the house. The opening where the doors are is not the only problem we have, we have water coming in everywhere whenever it rains but where the doors are there is a proper flood.
Why can you not take the "window crook" to court to get your money back and contract with someone else for the windows. Why would you even want to get the windows from this person?
That is exactly what we are doing but it's a very long and slow progress. We are not getting the windows from him anymore, or at least not what we hope, the problem is we do not know what the court decide so we can't order new windows in the mean time.

Yes the stables are decent to live in, we would like to have had the large window installed as its rather dark now when it's closed but we are fine!
Have you considered doing a go fund me for money to get your windows made somewhere else?
We had a similar situation many years ago and were helped out by neighbours and friends
No we haven't thought of that, we will however make our windows somewhere else once this is settled, we can't do anything before that.

They say they're working real hard inside so we're outside looking up at the beautiful balcony. "Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?" Well we seem to have found a fair maiden. 👰♂️ Anticipation fills the air as she's looks around franticly. We're watching the drama unfold. There's a commotion on the horizon and they tell me a man is approaching on horseback.

@VillaAroldi Well, we were going to give you a follow up, but the film was too shaky because as Romeo and his horse rode in, the dogs from the villa rode out. Total chaos ensued - horse and dogs and film crew running in a circle cause you know hooves and heads don't mix. 😯😖 Romeo bailed off the horse. It's heading out of town followed by the 2 dogs.

Yes absolutely, you need to file a lot of paperwork for any work that is basically more than just painting or maybe taking down a small internal wall without changing any room layouts.

I think of all the various places I follow, Italy seems to be the worst as far as delays, inconsistencies and frustrations galore!
