@@VillaAroldi I've bought loads of Ikea items but the Kitchen cupboards I bought for a rental flat I owned was so disappointing. The backs of the cupboards were so flimsy that the tenant accidentally pushed in an item so hard the back popped off on one side. Of course because we had tiled and put on the bench tops there was no way to fix the problem. While I liked the look/quality of the rest of the kitchen cupboards I will put a less flimsy back in if I ever use them again.
@@katbar6066 Yes that can happen, but usually there is a wall behind them so that has never happened to me but I am sure it can happen on a kitchen island or something.
I’m sure you are thanking the dads off camera when you drop them off to return to their lives (and some well deserved rest) but in both videos you didn’t. Having recently discovered and binge watching, I have loved your channel and all of your hard work. Would love to see and rooting for more subscribers for you. It bothered me a bit both times. Certainly don’t want viewers to think that you are not grateful. Maybe others were less aware? I probably am a bit more sensitive having recently lost my 95 year old dad who was constantly helping me with my projects. I would give anything to have him working beside me just one more time😘 Cherish those moments and memories.
Yes I completely understand that! That's why I try to enjoy every second we spend together, we are both super grateful having him here helping us and he is soon back again, he can't wait to be down here with us!
Things are moving along quickly now soon the kitchen will be done. Thank you for the beautiful trip through the mountains I enjoy the drives when they show up in European renovation videos. When is the big glass wall coming for the old barn for opening?
I think the majority of the people watching would have enjoyed it Henrik there’s nothing to not like seeing places and scenery…hope the hand recovers soon. 🙏🏽
I am not sure I would have the patience for putting together Ikea cabinets, so my hat is off to you for perseverance. I am sure it will look great when you are done!
Thank you! Putting them together actually takes me just minutes, it's super easy. I quite like building kitchens, what I do not like is sticky things like tiling etc.
So exciting to see your kitchen coming together! I had everything backwards and thought a different room was going to be the kitchen, but this makes sense. If I were there, I don't think I could resist making that double height room with the (future) glass wall the kitchen/living room, with the bedroom in the loft. I'm looking forward to seeing how your vision of the space comes to life. Love the new music! It really suits your optimism and the project.
Basically all of this is just for "now" the 2 bigger rooms are gonna house our home gym and sauna in the future, for upstairs we have plans to build a whole apartment in the future.
Absolutely but usually there is nothing even remotely close to the price of IKEA when it comes to quality, you need to spend more than twice the price to get better things, but since they have changed their production I don't know anymore, and it's for the stables, we are already over spending for things in there as it's not our priority.
Wonderful work in the kitchen, and also all the other panel's on the wall. Greatly done. 👌👌👌 The nature there is so so beautiful. The old buildings as well. Your videos are always very enjoyable. I love watching them. Keep up the good work guys. 👏👏👏
Probably too late, but I did not mount the cabinets straight to the wall. I screwed a 8cm wooden beam on the wall and mounted the cabinets on it. This gave me an extra 8cm depth on the worktop. Very nice for the cooker. My worktop is not very long, but the extra depth is giving me some space to work.
Great video!! You covered a lot of ground, literally!! Beautiful scenery. Thanks for sharing your travels!! @@Bobrogers99 Exactly, I have always been very happy with them, in that price range there is nothing that can compare, but these were made in Germany and If I remember correctly I think the old cabinets were made in Ukraine ( I could be wrong )
When you add a cover plate in the same material as the doors to the side of the tall cabinets, they will probably be solid enough. I have the same doors but in beige, and happy about it. I had a few centimeters next to my cabinets with nothing, I could cover these holes perfectly with the strips ikea sells for a light-cove.
Au tout début de la vidéo, une question: les arbres vous appartiennent ils? Si c’est le cas effectivement il vous incombe de couper les branches qui vont sur le champ voisin. J’ai profité de faire du tourisme avec vous ,belle région ❤
In the US we hang drywall horizontally, not vertically, because it creates fewer seams and if you start with the bottom piece , it supports the weight of the top piece while you screw it in. You can even handle 12 ft sections, (3.85 meters) pretty easily that way. Is hanging drywall vertically more common in the EU?
You do? I have never seen that on any channel Ive seen on youtube. What do you do with the vertical seems? Usually in EU we hang them vertically and order them in the size that's needed (usually 240-270cm depending on the age of the house)
@@VillaAroldi There are two type of joints/seams, which I'm sure you have there too. The valley seams are indented for easier mudding and taping. Then there are the butt seams on the ends, which are a little more challenging. But when you hang horizontally, you might only have one butt seam in the whole wall because you can use up to 24 feat of drywall with just two boards. In a wall shorter than 12 feet, you won't have any butt seams to work at all
@@VillaAroldi These guys work top to bottom because they have more than one person and the ceiling edge is more perfect. If you're alone bottom to top is easier for support reasons. (at least it has always been for me) ruclips.net/video/uKJb7ykSbmc/видео.html
@@ji8044 So there are things which are better with both ways I guess. But aren't the boards marked for the attaching beams? In the EU there are markers in the center of the board so that you know you have a beam behind when you attach the board.
@@VillaAroldi Not sure if I understand your question. Since you're spanning either 8 or 12 feet with one board, you just have to make sure you end on a wall stud so you can start the next one on the same stud. That's the beauty of using 12 ft boards because on smaller walls, their is no end/butt seam at all. In the US wall studs are a standard 16 inches on center, so you always know where the stud is for screwing purposes. One thing that makes a difference to you is ceiling height. In newer construction the the standard ceiling height is 8 ft, so if you stack two 4 x 8 or 4 x12 sheets horizontally, you're at perfect ceiling height. I know in your home the ceilings are much higher than that, so perhaps vertical is a better way to go.

I don't think we are gonna do that on this kitchen, it will hardly be used in the future, just a small extra kitchen adjacent to the outdoor kitchen we are building.
