Bro, you totally saved me. I was about to buy the max lense mod, however by seeing your compression, it's clear that normal lense gives you more raw feeling of what is actually happening and that's what I need.
Prefer the normal lens. I have both, the stabilisation of the max lens mod is great, however it gives the impression of slower riding and doesn’t represent the technical/gnarly areas of a trail. The max lens mod also gathers dust very easily while you’re in the middle of a trail. You’ll have a great run, get back and realise the dust has gathered and is creating light artifices in the footage. Regular lens all the way - especially the new ones that were released with the GoPro 10, they fit the GoPro 9 as well and are cheap On a plus side, if you’re into creating other types of footage, the max lens mod is unreal for time laps and time warp situations.
Totally agree on, and I’m now using the normal lens. Never thought about the max lens collecting more dust, but I do remember having to clean it off a lot. I’ve also never used it for time laps. Maybe I’ll just use it for that. Thanks man 🤙🏻
Thank you for the support! I just found an HSU Max Lens Mod that’s a lot cheaper. That video will be done by next Sunday. Always trying to make vids that get people stoked to go ride 🤙🏻
I think I like the slightly added chaos of the frame tilting into each turn instead of the safe, buttery smooth locked horizon. More exciting and it makes the viewer feel like they are there more. I feel the same way about drone photography. The gimbal is nice usually but when I want a more immersive feel, like you were actually in the air, I want people to feel like they are banking with each turn.....sometimes. A less robotic feel.
Yo! Great video of the two differences. Sooo my question for you is, do you have a video of that camera view at the 29 second mark? I’m obsessed with camera angle and I’d love to see a full video of that view. I gandered through your library but haven’t seen it yet. Thank you! Chris

I'm thinking of getting it for it's wide field of view but also horizon leveling. But I also hear that it looks weird when pointed at a person because of the fish eye effect so maybe I should just stick to the normal lens.
@@JaredHoff I bought the lens mod when it first came out, it’s really nice but being stuck at 2.7K, 60fps is a draw back. Most of the time I use the original lens.
Nice comparison video. I run the MLM on chest mounted shots 100% of the time. It eliminates the body roll which I find very annoying with the horizon lock feature and clearly the stabilization is much better with the MLM. For chin mounted shots, the normal lens is the way to go in my opinion. Your neck acts as a natural stabilizer and you can run the GoPro in standard Hypersmooth rather than Boost to avoid the extra cropping to get more of the bars in the shot. Unfortunately the MLM is not usable on the Hero10 yet until the next firmware update sometime in November. The Hero10 chin mounted is the best option at the moment but the chest mounted MLM Hero9 is not far behind. Most people won't be able to tell the difference.
