    Frankly, if the Reflections Lodge on the former River Country site hadn't been set in stone...Disney could've either renovated the water park to now have a Moana theme OR take advantage of all the Suitable or Marginally Suitable land around the Seven Seas Lagoon for a Disney Seas USA! A Moana family boat ride like Journey of the Little Mermaid or as a dark ride is what I would love to see Disney do as long as they include a wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV). I don't really care what park it goes in but Hollywood Studios has only one ride for wheelchair users who can not transfer. The parks really need more attractions with WAV's or alternate ways to experience an attraction while staying in a wheelchair. Disney's imagineering has always been different from other theme parks and try to include everyone. That is what they do best instead of having the typical thrill rides. They need to go back to attractions like they had at Epcot and Hollywood Studios which included every age and every ability. Like the Great Movie ride and even the Backlot Tour.

    To me, it sounds confusing of why Disney would put another boat ride style attraction right next to Jungle Cruise and Pirates. It would be more cooler, if Disney scraps that current idea of Behind Big Thunder, and brings a different version of Fantasy Springs, and has more newer IPs, like Moana, be featured in it, and maybe put that boat attraction in there.

    So I feel like they can still build the blue sky image of a Moana ride in the spot you suggested by building a ride similar to the Matterhorn. It can be a combo of a water ride that also goes on a coaster track. Hawaii and Polynesian islands for that matter have a lot of waterfalls and they can incorporate them into a Moana coaster/flume ride. Also I know this wasn’t the topic but D23 also being partly in Brazil makes me think we get a new EPCOT pavilion!

    Good call on the Adventureland location. That said, there are two things that are important in figuring out where this will go: How much it will cost AND how easy will it be to clone. If Disney is really going to make this a "D23 to remember", then they are going to need a lot of projects to announce, and Iger is going to demand most of them be very cheap. Something themed to Moana is a sure thing, not only due to what you've pointed out, but also because they NEED to appease Lin-Manuel Miranda. Yes, an Encanto land is coming, but that concept art isn't promising us an actual ride (though maybe that will change with D23). This Adventureland location will require a bunch of changes, even with a long queue, as the Jungle Cruise and Pirates are veryclose to each other, so close that construction will affect the Jungle Cruise. Meanwhile, they have the much-easier option of just building behind Fantasyland. All the speculation of a new Beyond Frontierland path to the left of Haunted Mansion has never made a lot of sense to me, when there's a big fat path behind the Rapunzel restrooms. Shoving a Moana mini-land back here would then allow them to connect the Beyond Frontierland area to Fantasyland in a guest-friendly loop. There's also the option of building behind the Little Mermaid for an ocean-themed mini-land. Same idea as your Adventureland concept, but she's over there with the other Princesses.
    All that said, Magic Kingdom just got a big attraction, is getting Tiana and the new Country Bears, so it is literally the park that needs something the least. At least nothing is needed in the next few years, and I think Moana is a next-few-years project. With Animal Kingdom getting the Latin America things and the Zootopia film, it's doubtful it'd get Moana as well, which is unfortunate as the BEST option would be to build something behind the Theater of the Wild. This can be Oceania, and they can bring in Australian animals, which would complete the animal geography (except for Canada and the US, which are not needed here).
    It's been a hot minute since something has been built in the Studios - the upcoming Little Mermaid redo does not count - so it's always an option. Echo Lake is floundering. Though something could also replace the Star Wars Launch Bay, which has no business being in Animation Courtyard. Ariel and Moana could be ocean-buddies here too!
    The one that seems like it would be in last place is Epcot, what with all the building still going on. But I have always found that Moana area to be suspicious. I bet money that somewhere there is concept art showing Living with the Land reimagined as a Moana boat ride. Iger's never met a ride that couldn't be repurposed. This Moana attraction feels to me like it was meant to straddle both the Land and Sea pavilions (get it??) with a Moana ride entrance at the back. This would place it right next to the Living with the Land loading area, which could be easily connected to. The idea was killed off early, possibly as the flume idea was then moved to Animal Kingdom. It COULD come back, though it's problematic.
    The biggest problem with that idea is that it can't be cloned. That will be important as clones keep the costs down which makes it easier for them to pop up everywhere. What's more exciting than them being able to announce "You get a Moana! And YOU get a Moana! And YOU get a Moana!!"? So I think your motion simulator boat idea is a front-runner here. It's not a huge footprint and can be plopped down anywhere. Like Paradise Gardens in DCA (next to Ariel again!!!). Or over at the Fantasyland Theater, which has long been rumored to get Frozen, so we'll see. (Personally, I think Disneyland needs to move on from its European-based Fantasyland. "It's a small world after all"... except outside that ride! They've long wanted to tear down the Autopia and Subs, which would be a perfect location for Asian and Latin Fantasylands. Then they'd have somewhere for both Lin-Manuel Miranda projects! Encanto was #2 in 2023, more than two years after its release. These are the two IPs that need announcements NOW.) Without it being clone-able in Epcot, we're probably back to AK or the Studios. We shall see...

    Moana boat ride….
    Not what MK needs. Moana fits as a franchise in MK, but that park does not need another boat attraction. DHS NEEDS a boat ride/water ride badly.
    Disney needs to really figure out solid additions to each park in WDW….they need to be cohesive in theming and fit whichever park they go in to, but they also need to look at what type of ride systems need to be in each park. MK could use a trackless dark ride. Epcot could use a river rapids style ride. DHS could use any type of water ride, as well as a few slower smaller dark rides. DAK needs another coaster, a flume/boat ride, and a handful more indoor dark rides/attractions.
    When it comes to IP, Indiana Jones, Moana, Jungle Book, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast all could use more representation in the parks.

    There's also been a long history hype of a Volcano mountain for that plot of land, adding a mountain attraction to each land (______, Big Thunder/Splash, Seven Dwarves/Matterhorn @Disneyland, Space Mtn). Volcanoes definitely are a part of Moana and polynesian culture, and could definitely play a bigger role in Moana 2's storyline. I would love to see some sort of aquatic coaster attraction (more similar to Atlantis Adventure at Lotte World, but with a mixture of that patent for the simulation components) to fit in there. I was always hoping that the Atlantis attraction rumored to go there but flopped due to the movie's performance could be brought back to life with Moana there. And I hope I'm on the moneys honeys.
    I will note I'm finding it hilarious that Disney has gone more screen-based Universal nostalgic style in recent years, while Universal is trying to go more live-set immersive Disney nostalgic style in recent years.

The Seas could do with a modernised overhaul and the park needs capacity so a second attraction at that pavilion could be good, plus it ties in with conservation/protecting the seas, and also AK and MK both have water rides already whereas Epcot doesn’t (Frozen doesn’t really count!) so a way to cool off at Epcot would be welcomed.

Yes, they are going to figure out all the ways to get more people into Magic Kingdom park, but keeping people on property is key to making the most money, and multi day tickets spread the wealth.

  • @haventesla8648
    @haventesla8648 2 месяца назад +1

    I feel Animal Kingdom really needs another land, beyond a 1-for-1 replacement of Dinoland with Tropical Americas which doesn't fix its principal problem: the perception that its limited roster of rides makes it a half-day park. An Oceania land anchored on an E-ticket Moana ride (plus a simple spinner like the one they had in the first artwork) would go some ways towards remedying that issue, which is arguably more pressing than Magic Kingdom's capacity issue. The latter can stick with Dark Fantasyland beyond Big Thunder for its own expansion, which can include a roller coaster too.

    • @brianfoss571
      @brianfoss571 2 месяца назад

      "Tropical Americas" is broad enough to include Hawaii, though. Since the Finding Nemo musical hasn't been enough to fix Animal Kingdom's "half-day park" problem, moving it to DHS and replacing the theater site with an immersive Moana mini-land could work very well. Agree, that Animal Kingdom needs more than replacing Dinoland but that’s where they are going to start. I don’t think they will hold off the Moana ride long enough to be an expansion to Animal Kingdom. I’d like to see Jungle book & an actual Lion King ride go there

    • @brianfoss571
      @brianfoss571 2 месяца назад

      @kellyvalence5323 Jungle Book works as an overlay of Kali River Rapids. But how would a Lion King **ride** work in Animal Kingdom? The musical numbers in the movie aren't really associated with action setpieces. The "elephant graveyard" scene, the wildebeest stampede, and the final battle between Simba and Scar aren't really moments you'd "ride through" - it'd just be another theater attraction, but with screens instead of physical characters. It might be interesting to have a "Circle of Life" interactive dark ride that shows what happens when predators overhunt, but it'd need to be different from a conventional shooter ride. Either way, a musical theater show like Festival of The Lion King is probably the best use of that IP. I'd rather see the African area replace Rafiki's Planet Watch with a Wakandan section focusing on uses of vibranium and rhino conservation. If that's built out well enough, they wouldn't need a Zootopia area at all.

    I think Moana would definitely make more sense in Magic Kingdom, especially in Adventureland. I know it wouldn't be a log flume like we saw in the DAK concept art given it's proximity to Splash Mountain, but I do like the idea of using a system similar to Shanghai's Pirates. Wasn't there rumours for a Moana roller coaster for Adventureland back in 2016-2018? Or was that just fan speculation? Either way, I like the coaster idea as well.

    According Joe Rhode, Animal Kingdom's theme isn't strictly animals, but rather the park is meant to showcase conversation and our relationship to nature. To me, Moana fits that theme better than Encanto or Coco.
    Given Moana's popularity, to me, she deserves a mini land over just an attraction. Since the film does not feature too many memorable locations beyond Tamatoa's cave, I think Animal Kingdom could allow for a Pacific Island land that features locations from Moana.

    Having a second animated Moana film and a live-action Moana film will surely get Auli'i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson to be Disney legends; here's why; Dwayne Johnson starred in Wizards of Waverly Place, The Game Plan and Jungle Cruise and Auli'i Cravalho also voiced Hailey Banks, the main, new and title character of the newest Disney Channel cartoon series, Hailey's On It. I could hire her to perform her version of Israel Kamakawiwo'ole: Somewhere Over the Rainbow for Time Shift.

    It could depend on how well the Moana 2 movie fares. It's too late to build a new land to promote the movie, but if it does well a new land could help promote a third movie. But with the Journey of Water attraction (which may not even last), they don't need a new land to promote Moana now.

    Brilliant idea for a Moana ride queue being something akin to Indy’s queue. I liked the idea of a a Moana log ride, but TBA has taken that spot. So let’s see Moana be something like Pirates in Shanghai. A coaster could also work.
    I also think Coco is criminally underused. What I’d love to see Disney note is that both of those were original (i.e. not sequels).There’s a lot of potential to do something phenomenal with Coco. It’s an evergreen IP that, if an attraction was done well, could be incredibly popular. Let’s have both of these rides be high capacity to help with crowds.

    While that swinging arm roller coaster idea sounds amazing, it would be unfeasible to build. The arm looks to be about 40 ft tall, which means the show building would have to be many times taller than that to give the coaster room to cross over itself. It would also have to compensate for the unpredictable movement of the swinging arm while fitting all the themed show scenes inside.

    What about combining the omnimover system at Haunted Mansion with the Soarin' system at EPCOT? With that, you could simulate the motion of riding the ocean waves without it actually being a rollercoaster type ride. Definitely belongs in MK though.
    I agree with the other comment. Another flume ride so close to Tiana's would be a mistake. They need another water ride on the other side MK to spread the guests out. With Tiana's and Big Thunder next to each other, that already creates a congested area in the park; especially since that area leads to a dead end.

    Honestly, I don’t want to see a Moana simulator screen ride because then they’re just going the way of universal with a screen based type ride which I don’t really care for, I think they should do a full on boat ride with different scenes and animatronics because that’s what Disney is best at doing. They’re good with animatronics and physical sets and effects. I don’t want them to go the universal route and just do a cheap simulator screen based ride because I feel like Moana deserves a better ride than just a simulator ride no matter how good they could do it with a giant dome screen etc Moana deserves a way better ride
