I've not noticed this in my local M&S. My choices, for lager, in there are:
M&S Czech Pilsner Lager 5%, brewed in the Regent Brewery, Bohemia.
M&S German (Heller's) Lager 4.9 %, brewed in the 'Aktien Brauerei' Bavaria.
M&S Spanish Lager 4.5%, brewed in the 'El Prat del Llobregat Brewery' in Barcelona.

Good choices, but I steer clear of the Spanish lager. Don't see the point. Victoria Malaga from Lidl is better if you must have a Spanish lager.

M&S know their customers and how to get men into the store with their partners . I always pick up some beer and wine and end up spending much more than my wife ever would. Their beer range has some real treats hidden in plain sight.

Premium Pilsner at 4.5% ABV for £2 for a small tin - somebody is taking the p*ss.

Not only 4.5% but also 330ml. I wouldn't buy it based on those two parameters alone. I think M&S misjudged their customer basis on this one. It won't last long.

For a Pilsner surely it should be in a 440ml can or 500ml bottle, I would feel short changed buying this as you will need to for a german style pint mug 😢

I've had this beer & find it odd that it's a 'premium' pilsner @ just 4.5% Surely, it should be nearer 5%? Also, I open beers on my beer mat (similar to the Evan Evans one on simon's bar). After one too many spillages of a sticky stout, I wanted to protect my table

4.5% is probably the absolute minimum for premium, it is a little low though....
