When I was a kid collecting comics and New Mutants 87 dropped I remember everyone trying to track down Uncanny 201 as the first true appearance of Cable. It's crazy how over time the book became almost forgotten as New Mutants 87 skyrocketed. The Cyclops/Storm fight for leadership of the team was also a major story beat that changed the course of the X-books for years to come. Agree with you and love that issue.
It’s always in demand, but the supply seems to be such that the value never moves all that much. It’s been hovering right around that same value for as long as I can remember.

I was one of those people reading the books every month I remember thinking the hellfire club is pretty tough for a bunch of Elizabethan looking clowns But u also remember that last page and having to wait a month to see what Wolverine was going to do to them Seemed like forever between books back then X-men was also one of the harder books to find back then for me because I was buying in drugstores and they had a limited stock every month
Anytime this issue comes up in a conversation with someone who was buying the title off the stands each month, they all say the same thing! Palpable anticipation for the next issue!

Like everybody else in the 80s, X-men got me into comics. I've mentioned before that 201 is the first issue I remember buying as a kid, and when I got back into collecting a few years ago. I picked up a small collection here in como a few months ago that had another copy, this one apparently signed by Leonardi. No COA, but looks good to my non-detective eyes. Lots of great books on the list. Thanks for putting this one together!

Would love to see a list of some of the tertiary runs involving the X-Men. I always found runs like Bishop The Last X-Man, Mutant X, X-Man and the like featured great stories with actual endings. I'm going to guess, having not looked these up, that they are fairly cheap.
Yeah once the big guys jumped ship it was left to John Byrne to carry the load and boy did he try he was doing lots of books a true Marvel guy if ever was one.
Agreed best run ever between the comics and cartoon and toys they struck gold. To bad they overpopulated the books so much so that it got crazy but I remember going to pizza hut getting cool X-Men stuff like a kitty pride joins the X-Men VHS and cups and even pizza boxes
It ebbs and flows. I’ve seen it push upwards of $150 for REALLY nice copies, but it never holds that higher value for long. I think that the supply is just massive for that issue.

X-men is my all time favourite series but unfortunately not a single X-men book is currently on my pull list. Still there are a lot of back issues out there. Uncanny X men #269 is my tip for a great cheap book. Jim Lee art, Rogue vs Ms Marvel and Savage Land Rogue debut. I'm always picking this one up. Well videos end and am pleased to say I have a clean sweep of these issues.
Nice! A person can definitely spend a lifetime tracking down X-Men books. Aside from an negative connotation, they’re like cockroaches. If you see one, there are 1000 more!

It was a great run, it had relatively recently been a bi monthly and the care and time put into producing just 1 x book a month really paid off.

I remember reading that x-men 201 was also the first art (inks) by Whilce Portacio.
That it is! I almost mentioned that, but opted to keep it a little tighter and leave it out.
