      @@twiglet2214 I personally would buy one. In fact I had 2 and they were both awesome. As for battery life, I've always had 2 or 3 spare batteries and as for low light performance, I never had any problems. My friend as got low light images on her FB page......Marie Gofted's Photo-Therapy

    This has to be one of the best general bird photography tutorials combined with being perfect for the RX10 camera. Mine is a Mk iii but just about all the settings you went through apply. I've had the camera about six weeks now and so far have been winging it. It's 5:30 pm UK time and the sun has just come out, so I'm off to the local park to try the new settings I have put in following your tutorial. Many thanks Richard.

Many thanks for your short post edit production using Lightroom, I gained a lot from it.best regards Steve

    Very useful video. Thanks Richard. I've had that camera for about a year. It's my weekly camera. I'll be taking it out to Alberta next month along with the Sony a7iii. One thing I find difficult with the RX10 Mk iv is shooting in low light. I'll take both cameras and that way if I find some bears I'll have the flexibility and not the inconvenience of lugging around four lenses. The a7iii I'll use at night and the RX 10 in the daytime. A very thorough, enjoyable, and informative clip. I got a fair bit out of it. The editing tips were very much appreciated. One thing I noticed is the tripod you use is very similar to my (aluminium) travel tripod. When I used this during my travels in America I found that the weight of the RX1- on the top of the extended central column was a bit prone to vibration effects that harmed the image quality. The ball head also struggled a little with the weight of the camera too. I replaced it with a sturdier, carbon fibre unit that is utterly delightful and very, very solid. The weight gain over my previous tripod is about 100 grams.

    Great! I just took the financial plunge after finding a good deal online, and found some of this very useful! I didn't know you could change the size of you're spot for auto focus, which is key to making this usable for birds. I'm thinking that this alone, plus judicious use of the exposure compensation dial and continuous shooting should get you quite far under normal daylight situations.

    When you don't want a picture of the bird directly on the feeder you can put a branch or cutting with blooms clipped to something close to the feeder. Birds will land there before going to the feeder often and you can get shots there.

    Dear Richard, I got my RX10M4 in Jan, 2021, and has been shooting birds ever since. I rarely got good shots out of hundreds and thousands shots I took, which is frustrating. My friends and other bird watchers are using different cameras, it's hard to get useful tips on how, what, why. This video is the most helpful one so far, it covers not only the shooting part, but also the post-production! Now I know why the format needs to be RAW. Do you have other bird photography videos that I can refer to? Thank you so so much!!

    When are we getting RX10 Mk 5(V)?

  • @BushMasterThermal
    @BushMasterThermal 4 года назад +5

    Can't wait for the RX10 V. Could there even be, remarkable sharpness for such an all in one lens design, with weatherproofing. Maybe a 24 - 1000. Much newer generation sensor tech Better low light performance, longer reach, higher frame rate quality . 24-800 lens would be great.

    • @cow77cow
      @cow77cow 3 года назад +2

      Higher frame rate? What do you shoot where 24fps not enough.?

    • @BushMasterThermal
      @BushMasterThermal 3 года назад

      @@cow77cow Lol 24 fps is normal cinematic video. 30 fps and 50/60 fps is great. This camera can actually shoot 120 fps 1080p video. So great slow motion with normal video recording when slowed down.
      Higher frame rate would be a plus for slow motion. But what they really need to do is upgrade the sensor to the newest current technology available sony sensors that they make. 1 inch sensor is fine especially with the newest tech sensor releases they can use in the new model. And better low light performance with new sensors and updated image signal processors etc.
      1 inch sensor will also keep the overall Lens Barrel in friendly to use size as the current model is amazing. Just a bit more reach tele photo end would be great with the same F4 Aperture.

    If you are making a video titled 'Bird Photography' make sure to include ample bird photos under different conditions such as low light, high ISO, high frame rate , Sony's famed eye detection autofocus etc. If you want to talk about camera basics such as flash mode or white balance or picture profile, don't mislead your audience for a clickbait... No one purchases a RX 10 Mark IV to take videos all day long, nor do they want to see video samples or RAW editing techniques in a camera review titled 'Bird Photography''

    Basically it's an upselling video as you've said you're a Sony Ambassador ..

  • @colintraveller
    @colintraveller 3 года назад

    Instead of taking pics in yer garden why not prove the camera's ability by going out in the wild .. because this video doesn't really prove anything of the camera's positives and negatives because you are taking pics in a staged setting .. you're spending more time altering/tweaking the pics . If the Camera was worth the price point you really shouldn't need to tweak/alter pics .
    TBH I wouldn't waste my time taking pics of a bird feeder .. there is no challenge , It's more of a challenge to capture wilds birds in there natural enviroment . Because you don't have the time to faff about with the settings because speed is everything . Longer you fanny about with the settings your subject will do a bolter .
    Try Capturing a Swallow / Housemartin or even a bat in flight . you will struggle .
    The camera for the price point fails at low light conditions you have failed to even mention this , Can't do Night captures ffs and the camera is priced at 1,499 in the UK [ come on ]
    And the number of people on YT that has reviewed this Camera have never truly showed it's abilities at capturing High flying .. Passenger Jet's or even Sunset captures . All they do is the usual upselling chat . it get's tiresome .
    Bear in mind I have a Sony Camera .. DSCHX350 , It's not great at Sunset captures nor even night captures .
