this was arguably one of the greatest post season performances by a manager ever. dave has caught alot of flack over the years for his decision making, but this one was a masterclass.
That sweeper and sinker combo is insane, and when batters think he's throwing either of those 2 he throws a 4 seamer and a batter gets K looking. He is nasty.
@@brandocalrissian3294exactly & the dodgers still wouldn’t have got a pass if they didn’t win the World Series even with all the injuries to their pitching staff
Trienen, a man of faith, displayed incredible perseverance through the injuries and never questioned Dave when he was put in a game. This postseason, Dave learned his lesson from 2017 where he put his best relievers in every world series game. This time, he only deployed trienen for the kill
Trenen is a freaking warlock! He’s been flinging frisbee’s like a demon! God bless this man and Dodgers re-sign this guy! Top 3 reliever in baseball! The Worlock The Padre killer! Machado has nightmares because of him. His sweeper’s are a thing of beauty!
I was a big Roberts hater, but wow, they way he handled this group of guys was great! He trusted the guys instead of what the analytics and numbers said. Hell of a job
Blake will always have love from us in Oakland, he’s one of the nicest and most down to earth players you could meet and was always clutch when we needed him in 2018
Great video. Blake definitely deserved one exclusive to him. He very quickly became my favorite pitcher and I'm holding my breath that they re-sign him.
I have always thought that Blake Treinen has some of the craziest movement on his pitches. It's kind of incredible to see, but it's not just one pitch -- it's three. His sinker, cutter, and slider/sweeper all have (at peak) about 3ft of movement on them. Love that he found his stride perfectly in time for the WS. Lots of love for this guy.
My favorite part was when he ran to the bag instantly with determination and barely got Soto out at first by less than half a step, while Gerrit Cole just stood there and pointed like a clown. It summed up the whole series.
For a guy who's had his good work thrown away by teams and shown little faith, it really is a full circle moment that the Dodgers were saved by him by throwing away the analytics, throwing away the pitch count, and just trusting him.
It's kinda scary that the Dodgers won this season, when they don't even have full strength. They have 2 Cy Young caliber pitchers with Ohtani and Glasnow, and some all star caliber players like Kershaw and Gonsolin. Also a nasty pitchers like May and Brusdar and great prospects like Stone and Miller and River Ryan. They also have the highest paid pitcher in their roster. The Dodgers roster is unfair if they are healthy lol. Those bullpen pieces too like Vesia, Banda etc.
Not to mention where a lot of those bullpen pieces came from and got fixed by Mark Prior and the pitching lab. Vesia was the result of a sell high trade on Dylan Floro. Anthony Banda was a journeyman acquired from Cleveland for cash. Ryan Brasier was released by the Red Sox, signed a minor league deal and then got called back to pitch quality innings. Evan Phillips was claimed off waivers from the Rays of all teams.
@@Wolf-wc1js the dodgers are the best at turning players around and into all stars. it's not just how much money they spend, it is also the coaching and scouting that is next level.
As a dodgers fan, let's be real here... may is always hurt, gonsolin is always hurt and gives up a ton of runs outside of his last season.. Bobby Miller is literally cooked. Dude was bad bad this year. Stone and river Ryan will be big time pitchers for the future. 😊
@@thelowgradehero4361 22 was actually the outlier year, gonsolin's era has been good to great for the rest of his career. With how much promise Miller showed last year that's hasty to call him cook after one bad season. There are definitely concerns but this could very well just be a blip in a long successful career for him. Stone will probably "just" be a solid backend rotation arm, but I am high on Ryan for sure.
Awesome vid. And we can’t forget that the Dodger bullpen was, at that moment in WS G5, down to Buehler (certified dawg) and the 4 guys who had thrown 43, 20, 56, and 50 pitches (that 50 pitches was 1 inning!) in the blowout against us the previous day. We really needed him to step up in that moment.
The Witch was amazing while he was on my A's and have always been a fan. Was pretty pumped to see that the Dodgers gave him a chance again only to become a dawg in that bullpen to win a World Series (im from socal so I grew up watching Dodgers). World Series Champion Blake "The Witch" Treinen.
I still get chills watching him get that last strikeout in the World Series. As a Dodgers fan who last got to celebrate in 88, I can tell you that his name will always be an integral part of the story when we tell it to our kids!
I feel like Robert’s past blunders with taking pitchers out early played a huge part in his decision making this postseason. He said it himself it’s a feel thing in the postseason which in prior playoffs I felt like he relied heavily on analytics. I’m glad he’s willing to lear and grow how he plays the game as a manager and can hopefully lead us to many more titles!
Its honestly hilarious how I previously thought Blake Treinen was not a big time pitcher, especially after 2016 when he blew that G4 against the Dodgers. Fast forward to 2020 and 2024, he has proven me wrong and as a Dodgers fan, I couldn't be happier.
the dodgers bullpen deserves a lotttt of flowers. they had the passion and the drive to win those games. i never cared about baseball or anyone other than the superstars. but kopech vesia and treinen became heroes for me
He changed his slider with the Dodgers and made it more of a sweeper. He added break to it so it was a much better pitch than when he was with Oakland.
9:10 it wasn’t guts and hope over analytics, it was called 2 rookies and a reliever that wasn’t having a good series. Hence why Buehler came in for the 9th
When Treinen's feeling good and his pitches are working, he's as good as anyone who's ever toed a mound. He's absolutely filthy. Unhittable. Consistency has always been his issue though. He's had a real nice career, nothing to be ashamed of, but he has Hall of Fame stuff that hasn't translated to a Hall of Fame career.
Someone forward this to Treinen and the Hudson video to Huddy 😭
