    I'm curious, does Tracy work at a funeral home, or a Decedent Care Center? The Funeral Homes I work for use one combined Decedent Care Center to do all of the preparations and embalmings for multiple funeral homes, based on Tracy's day-to-day schedule, her job sounds similar to that position rather than at one funeral home. Love the video!!! :)

      The embalming studies is just over 2 years, I am nearing the end....yeah. Really could not tell you how long the studies take in other countries, I would say around the same time, as we all use the same text books (not many different text books on embalming) most of the text books we use are American. My course has 23 assignments 4 theoretical exams, 10 autopsy Embalming case studies, 20 natural embalming case studies. Then final practical exam that is 1 autopsy embalm & 1 natural case embalm 😳🧐😵🥴

    I'll the vids I found are "FUNNY" and unscientific. Would you consider making one that's serious and real? Individual and mass graves. War time. For one thing , I know distance from a water source is VERY important so the water isn't contaminated!
    If you want to, also one on war time cremation.
    Finally, what to do to make ID in the future possible: cell phone facial photos, scars that might identify a person, clothese. Noting where the body was found. Gender, approximate age. Hair and eye color, anything.
    Think it through.
    SLAVA UKRAINE.

    • @Areyoudyingtoknow
      @Areyoudyingtoknow  2 года назад

      Ukraine survival, we make videos from Tracy's professional experience. We use humor to make the subject matter more accessible and less frightening because in our western society the funeral industry remains reasonably closed and hidden. Tracy is a mortician and does not deal with the issues you mention so they are not things we will be likely to cover off on. She is not a scientist, nor dies she claim to be.
      Thank you for your comments. Take care.

    • @Areyoudyingtoknow
      @Areyoudyingtoknow  3 года назад +2

      Lisa it is not a morbid question. How are you doing, it is never easy when we loss our parents 😞 sending you hugs from us both 🤗🤗
      It all really depends on a lot of factors. If the coffin is sealed in a very wet, heavy clay ground, the body tends to last longer because the air is not getting to the deceased. If the ground is light, dry soil, decomposition is quicker. It could possibly take a body up to 10 or 15 years to decompose to a skeleton. This is very generalised information but hope it helps a little.
      Take care Lisa 💚

    Hello Ladies😊
    Another interesting video maybe ( that's mebbees for the Tracy dictionary😉) not in the "need to know" category, but good to know!
    Obviously there are far more forms and procedures involved that we are aware of!
    You don't want to be setting up for a viewing and having the family ask "excuse us but who is that in the coffin?"
    And that little Betty I bet she was the life and soul of the party before she passed. I can imagine Tracy "Pass a couple more straps for Betty we don't want her doing a Houdini on us"
    Also I didn't realise you girls did sign language. Is there no end to your talents?
    I watched the hands closely to see if I could pick up any tips 😉 but didn't. I can imagine the sign language as you read this last comment so I'll finish by saying cheers for another great video😊

I noticed his ear had been filled in and I have no reason to know the answer. He died of a heart attack and was prepared the next day for his viewing. I don’t know why they would’ve cosmetize the inside of his ear? I also have a second question. My brother requested his watch before they closed the casket. His arms were resting around his hip bone and not crossed at his waist. He seemed to be resisting the removal of his watch. After embalming are the armsfixed to the point that they are hard to move? I did do a 'few wet labs' for my training and the specimens we worked on were either preserved in a formaldehyde-type solution (wet and chemical smelly) that would keep them for about 6 months or treated with Gunther's plastination technique so they became solid. We might do a vid on this - you've got me intrigued. 🙂

      @@Areyoudyingtoknow I've seen a video and a TV documentary about body donations for medical science.
      As far as I'm aware for funeral purposes the objective is to stop decomposition preserve the body and make it suitable for viewing.
      For anatomical dissection it's about preserving the body and also the organs in such a way that during study the organs feel as close to normal as possible.
      Part of the process involves immersing the body in a tank containing water, chemicals and salts for up to 48 hours.
      The anatomy dept I saw had refrigerated storage for 60 bodies. The embalming room had 3 stainless steel tanks two could process up to 4 bodies at a time the other one 2 bodies.
      The documentary about the anatomy department was amazing on UK TV (I'll try and find a reference and post a link.
      They began by interviewing the donors (terminally ill people).
      Then it showed students working on donated bodies. Nothing too graphic. The students explained the benefit of working on donated bodies.
      Dignity and respect were at the core of the learning process.
      At the end of the course all available material was returned to the body and cremated.
      Those students who worked on the bodies of donors who were interviewed prior to death were invited to "meet" their body donor.
      Not all accepted but those who did were shown the interview and learned a little about the individual and why they decided to donate their body after death!
      Just looked it up the programe was The Body Donors shown on UK TV CHANEL 5.
      There is also an episode oh RUclips if you search for The Body Donors.

      Hi Nkeka, not in Australia. Here you need to learn on the job. You can do an embalming course, but you need a mortuary to work in and a mentor so it's tricky if you aren't already in the industry 🙂

    What’s the longest you’ve kept a body in the fridge or freezer? Also, what’s the longest you can keep someone in the fridge or freezer before it becomes too risky to prep them for a viewing?

    • @Areyoudyingtoknow
      @Areyoudyingtoknow  3 месяца назад +1

      Hi Sandra, weve answered this in a few older vids but it all depends on how they died, if they went straight into cold storage after death and other factors. Sometimes 4 weeks is possible without full embalming. Check out our back catalogue for more info xx 💜👍🏼

    You can bring the body home with you for the night? What the heck?
    You don’t go and pick up the bodies?
    We embalm just about all the time here in the US.
    Do you embalm often in Australian?

    • @Areyoudyingtoknow
      @Areyoudyingtoknow  Год назад +1

      Hi, we don't embalm every body here in Australia, Only when needed, such as the deceased is going home for a few days been repatriated to another country our an above ground valt or cultural reasons. Thanks for your question take care 😊

    I’m a very strong Christian and I love science and I honestly think that doing this job would be very rewarding my major right now is construction engineering but I could possibly always transfer it and change it into different aspects of science such as this

      Hi, you are correct this is a very rewarding job and a privilege to be allowed to take care of family deceased loved ones. It's also very physical and emotional but with the right guidance and support it's definitely a job worth looking into but slightly different from construction engineering. Good luck with your working future what ever you decide to do. Happy to answer any questions you may have too. Take good care 😊💚💚

      Hi Sarah, no not always. In the he USA I think 99% are here in Australia in my work place most of my preparation are un-emblamed. So I would say 80% of my cases are natural no Embalming at all. Thank for your comment 😊💚

    • @Areyoudyingtoknow
      @Areyoudyingtoknow  Год назад +1

      Hi, not sure what part of the world you are from but here in Australia I would suggest you apply for jobs in your local funeral homes to do FDA work (funeral directors assistant) or transfers of the deceased. These are the best ways to get your foot in the door, it's very difficult to get a job in a mortuary without any other experience in the industry. If you are in the USA you need to apply for mortuary school.
      Hope that helps ☺️ good luck and all the best 😊💚💚
