This man is a legend. Best reviews period!
Even beats inside sim racing!
Thanks for continuing to deliver the best and most comprehensive reviews available.
Just put mine on. I got to say its a huge difference. Exactly the feel I was looking for when I decided to build a sim rig. I wanted a gas pedal that had a hydraulic feel, like a real gas pedal. I'm very satisfied. Just need the break preference kit and I'll be all set.
Great review, always a pleasure to watch you drive at the end
Your info is invaluable. Can't thank you enough for all your work and input.
I'm a patron of no one, but if I could afford to give to someone for what they provide us all with, it'd be you.
So again... many thanks, Barry!!
Honest, unbiased and precise review as ever! way to go Barry!
Yet another very informative review. Thx! I recently also mounted this damper kit to my throttle pedal. Just adds that little bit of realistic pedal feel.
Great review! Just ordered pedals + damper + performance kit!
Love your stuff Barry. Keep them coming.
I've watched a dozen of these in the past week, and Barry's site is the best. Reminds me of Steve's site for gaming PCs...
Gamers Nexus. Between the two, I doubt there's any question about hardware they don't answer. Detailed, thorough, and just what one needs before spending multiple thousands of dollars. Thank you!
Thank you for all your reviews.
Your review is always unbais, thanks for another great review Barry. What you mentioned towards the end of the video was so true.
I just fitted this damper to my V3 pedals. And of course (like when I installed the Performance Kit) I had to come back to your video to see what I was doing wrong because it wasn't going as smoothly as i would have liked. I had a few problems. First was the pin that holds the damper on back of throttle pedal was just slightly too wide (manufacturing tolerances) for the gap in pedals - I measured gap as 31.83mm but the pin was 31.89mm - this was enough that it was not easy to just slide in - had to give hard push and scrape its way into position. Second problem was like you said, the bottom of rumble motor hitting the top of damper plate - I didn't know how to adjust the throw of pedal using the nuts, so I just bent the rumble bracket up a bit and also pulled it up while tightening screw so it was as high as possible on pedal. it now clears it by about 1mm on full throw.
This guys voice just blew my sub woofer!
Thank you for this really made life easier for me before my install
I love my dampener. It keeps my heavy foot in check on the slick dirt tracks.
Thanks for a great review!
Great review! Ill pull the trigger for my TGT T3pa set.
SRG - so glad I found these reviews you have done... I'm new to sim-racing and just got the V3 inverted pedals, after watching your in-depth reviews (along with the very detailed explanation and "testing" you do) it has given me insight I wouldn't have otherwise had. Please keep doing what you do. Much appreciated!!
Thank you for the great review. I was using it on my rig for around a year on a brake pedal without the performance kit, and i really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, my damper failed and started to leak oil all over the place. I have sent it back for repair, but i will probably try to use it for the acceleration pedal like you do as a switches to performance kit for the brake pedal. I think your tip about the manual calibration was great, and it's good that you remind people to use it.
Been looking for a review with these on the accelerator... Thanks! and ordered :)
Today my Fanatec Clubsport V3 damper kit and brake performance kit arrived... installed it (didn't go as easy as yours, my rumbler wires are too short.) But managed it.. and it feels awesome! What a difference!!!
I just got one of these so this is very helpful. From what I have heard it is better for F1 and GT but not so good for rally driving so it will hopefully be a good addition for me. Thanks for the video it's not the first time I have followed your guide. ✌️😎
Barry, I would love to see what is your personal favorite complete sim racing setup. Great work as always.
Must buy the pedals damper's and brake kit the hole works! I got to save some money. Thank you Barry again you nail'd it!
Man your taking them corners like a beast.
Great review thanks for you efforts.
I initially took them away after short but now I have it back installed on the break... It helps me to dose brake better especially in cars with sensitive brakes
Great review. Thanks ! Im listening your voice and sounds like James May talking seriously about Sim racing xD
True Barry is the James may of the simracing
Great job Barry
SOLD! Going with this on the throttle and the performance kit for the brake, just like he has it setup in the video. Absolutely perfect!
Love my morning coffee with Barry
Hope you are doing well Barry. You’ve earned a new subscriber
Video helped and I reversed the motors which sorted out the travel issue on throttle and brake 🙂
Thank you Barry
Brilliant as always Barry, keep the reviews coming. I'd like to see you review the Formula V2 wheel next please :)
In the works.
he rides The Nordschleife!!!! the green Hell....Perfect drive !!!!! greets from Germany
Legend!
If you prefer more resistance on the throttle, or want to increase the force of the brake pedal further (will not reduce travel tho unless you recalibrate), you can also preload the damper, by twisting the black body further, so it will already compress the cylinder slightly. That does of course limit travel though, so it might be more suited for use on the brake in that case, than the throttle. Was not mentioned in the video (and apparently not in the manual therefore) but could be useful I think.
Great review as always.. Tell us more about this electric skateboards you have on the wall. Looks like a LaCroix setup.. Something I was thinking about getting..
Holy crap. Talk about a voice for radio
after a weeks of using the v3s,the rod that pushes on the rubbers grinds on the housing that rubbers fit in,you will get metal filings and feel a treading on snow feeling, but after six months,it grinds enough metal away that that feeling goes,.
also you can buy that polyurothane material for a lot cheaper than what fanatec sell it for, there used to be a guy on iracing selling it after i gave him the details
Sos un genio! Saludos!
I run a dampner on my throttle on setting 1. It has made throttle control so much easier.
Hi mate, pls tell me the advantage. I habe a problem as a New wheel User. I cant feel the right throttle Power. Sometimes i push throttle to much, Sometimes to low. Can the dumper help me to find a better feeling on throttle ?
@@dangerman74-frl24 yes the action is much smoother and easy to feel
His voice is pretty damn amazing. But he seriously reminds me of an American James May
I already have the performance kit so I don’t need a damper for the brake kit I need one for the gas the black spring *( springs get old and and weaker with time that damper will stay stiff for a lot longer than a spring will just an FYI if your thinking about keeping your V3’s for years, and if you don’t have the performance kit I recommend it it turns the brake into a true load cell brake )* just isn’t enough even with it shortened so it’s stronger, I use a red 13 and a green 13 preload at 2.5 I got like 3/4 of an inch of total travel on the brake, the load cell’s max is 100KG or 220lbs, just got my V3’s about a month ago and I love them it’s amazing once you get used to them how much more consistent and quicker your lap times get the newer sets come with a way longer rod on the gas to adjust the throw
I’m ordering one for my fanatec v3 inverted throttle pedal
That forced laugh always says to me "There's a body in my freezer".
Literally the David Stacey of SimRacing!
Great video, I just received/ installed my V3's yesterday into my Human racing gt chassis, ordered 2 dampers and performance kit , can't wait to try it out soon , unfortunately work comes first
Nice
Mate your voice is like butter
First hydraulic accelerator pedal world wide ;)
Heusinkveld Ultimates have had a throttle damper since their intro in 2014 (or thereabouts).
Great review as always ! I have the damper kit and at first I mounted it on my brake pedal. I think there is a big flaw in the design there from Fanatec. The force dampened is not transmitted to the load cell, so the more dampening you set the more it delays your initial brake input peak, in the end it hurts performances quite a bit as you need to start braking a bit earlier. Finally, I removed it from the brake pedal and mounted it on the throttle as you did.
Julien Nacci so ? is it worth it for the throttle ? does it slow down the return of the pedal like someone mention ? i don’t know if i should spend 80€ just for a stiffer throttle. thx for the help
OAAC Médias definitely not :)
Try it as is, if too soft find a stronger spring somewhere. I had to set it it as Barry, 1.6, to avoid the slow return of the throttle as you mentioned.
Thanks for the answer =) So the feeling of the throttle is improved ? and did you improved your laps time with it installed ? i think it's the most important xD
@@choanlpoto I don't think I improved my lap times, the only thing that is better in term of performances is that I cannot floor immediately anymore at corner exist, so at least it avoids me to make this mistake.
AGREED! I just swapped from this component to the brake performance kit and I am infinitely more confident on the brake pedal. I was losing tonnes of time in the braking zones due to this shoddy part! Might throw it on my throttle, but i'm jaded by it.
Spectacular review as usual. It's worth noting that the red pedal plate screws, while very pretty, are aluminum which is basically like chocolate. Be super careful if you're planning on removing more than once because, regardless of tool quality, they are especially fragile, round out and/or strip very easily. It's a pretty easy upgrade to steel or titanium M6 1x12, though special attention then needs to be paid to two different metals seizing over time. Any thoughts are welcome.
Use blue loctite or an anti-seize compound on the replacement m6 screws. (Thank you for the M6 specs btw!)
great walkthrough. really appreciate it. very detailed and easy to follow along. got mine installed just fine after watching this. Although, i do have one question. for someone who seems to be very detailed in what they do, and take pride in it. im very surprised that your monitors are not calibrated. or am i just seeing an odd view? it looks like your right monitor doesnt have the bezel or angle set right. likely just your preference so dont listen to me :) i appreciate your hard work. thank you!
Awesome video, just picked on up for myself, going to use it on the accel pedal like yourself. BTW what is the screw driver kit you're using at 14:00 looks really useful.
hi, great video as usual.
what shifter is that ?
I would like you to make a video showing your personal setup. What pedals do you like to use and why?
I know this review is 3 years old, but it's still very relevant, just bought the V3 with the performance kit, and while replacing the black spring and adjusting the throw (I wasn't a fan of the long throw it was set as default) the T-LCM throttle felt more firm. I kept hearing mixed things about the Dampner and your review was very thorough, and it seems like we share the same preference on the throttle side. Just not a fan of the price.
Nice video as usual, I have one question though. It seems like you lose a bit of travel distance on the throttle, is that so and is it a negative when it comes to smoother throttle control?
Thanks for the great review. Would like to hear your opinion about Simucube 2
I hope to get one soon.
I was also wondering if turning the rumble motors round would help as mine keep catching the pedals, so thanks for confirming that it works
Sweet piece of kit. Nice addition to an already great looking set of pedals. Excellent review! Fan of F1? F1 2019 coming in June.
So if I’m correct. The brake performance kit reduces travel on the brake and if you were to install this damper on your brake it wont reduce travel but increases the needed pressure to get travel in your pedal, correct?
So no one is gonna answer him
Thanks again...I'll be back no doubt lol
If you didn't adjust the throw distance on your throttle pedal don't worry just bend that bracket up a tad and you'll have the clearance needed to get the full throw of the pedal
great vids i learn a lot from you. big question tho, what track are you driving on ? looks like a blast. thanks
Nürburgring Nordschleife
I did go for this damper kit and got it installed a few days ago. I have it on the brake though. I alsdo have the performance kit, but use the smaller red and green to give some travel, and I really feel the damper added a nice hydraulic feel to the brake pedal.
Would have liked a bit more resistance to the throttle, but I have my throttle set to maximum travel, and don't wan't to restrict that with a damper. Also feel like it might make the throttle a bit more sluggish on returns, making it harder to back off the throttle fast.
Would have liked to se Fanatec come out with a new set of red, and even stronger spring addons for the throttle and clutch!
Yes, more spring choices would be great.
agree with you, Damper kit makes brake pedal feel more hydraulic. For me with damper kit i do not feel that i need brake perfomance kit (rubbers/green or red) - but also putting Damper kit on accelerator i think it will make it lit bit more sluggish.
one thing i would like to know about adding damper to throttle. does it still snap back as fast? say under wheel spin condition is there any point the throttle hangs?
@@lenny0347 I would expect it to spring back even faster if anything, because you'll have both the spring and the damper pushing back on the pedal.
Great review! Thanks! My biggest question is: after both the upgrades, is this pedal set a good value? I'm in the market for pedals but when you kit-out the V3s the price gets in the range of more "boutique" pedal makers. What do you think?
Good question. AFAIK, the next closest "boutique" pedal set is the PT2 from ProtoSimTech at 480.00usd without extras. The Fanatec V3 with performance kit and damper is around 430.00. There are other considerations to take into account I think. Which would be best depends on your own requirements.
Another great review. I wonder if sim pedals are diverging from reality with items like this damper on the throttle - both my current cars have completely electronic throttle pedals with no cable and a simple spring. Maybe I should get a V3 damper kit to fit to my actual cars!
I believe the current F1 cars use throttle dampers. As well as other cars in different racing series. There are companies the make damper solutions to cure the lifeless spring feel on cars with wireless throttle systems.
@@simracinggarage3026 Interesting, might look into that for my humble BRZ!
Hey, maybe take a quick look at this video here: ruclips.net/video/vTDCkdYh7_Y/видео.html
if anyone want a alternative for say g920/29 pedals use some 1/5 rc car baja shocks with the lightest oil you can find. front shock for clutch rear shock for brake. givs you adjustable springs and a decent hydraulic feel
Hi Barry, great video. Wondering what set to upgrade to. (Fanatec Club Sport V3 Pedals, DD wheel base and McLaren GT3 wheel looking favourite.) But didn't see your vibration motors doing anything.. do you value them? Do they help to perceive when lock-up or understeer is happening?
Are you going to do a Heusinveld Sprint pedals rewiew?
I am going to buy the DD1 and two rims soon and was wondering if i was going to buy this for the throttle on my V3 pedals. I don't wan't it to be heavier but more smooth, running the red spring now cause i was getting tired in my foot with the black one when driving for hours. So any thoughts?
Any vids of swapping the clutch and gas on the v3’s for the inverted trakracer kit
So I do like a fair bit of travel in the brake but I'm looking for that extra umph. Should I go with the performance kit or the damper?
Thank you for the honnest review. Have a question: Do you have any idea how much force/weight you're doing on the Throttle now with the damper on it?
I don't have a way to measure that. But being that the damper force is adjustable, I think most would be able to find a setting that suites them.
@@simracinggarage3026 Ok. Thank you for taking the time to answer. Keep up the good work :)
@ 24:17 viewers might recognize that part of the track where many of the accident videos were recorded.
Whould you say the cspv3(maybe inverted) with 2 dumpers and the performance kit are in one league with the he pro or sprints?thanks, awesome review :)
I'm in the market for a new set of pedals and I'm slowly building my setup. i used to have the csr Forza wheel from fanatec but recently upgraded to a t500 which my csr pedals were no longer compatible with. I'm between the updated csr pedals from fanatec, the V3's in stock trim, and the thrustmaster t3pa. i want to keep these pedals ideally through further upgrades to better wheels and up to the dd1. *So my question for you is this;* if I'm serious about continually upgrading my setup, do you think it would be beneficial to buy these pedals and just run them for the foreseeable future? or should i buy the cheapies and get a set of nicer pedals than the V3's when it comes time?
Would love a review of the Heusinkveld Sprint pedals if possible. @Sim Racing Garage
If I could only get my hands on a set.
+1 would love to hear your opinion!
waaaay better the sprint
+1
I gona buy them soon, I was wondering if I should buy damper kit for throttle and brakes any advice ?
Hi do you think I have to put both the brake and the accelerator? In the end I bought the csw v2.5 with v3 pedals
would you say this would improve csp v1 too ? if you mod them to fit ?
I put a damper on my V3 throttle at setting 1 1/2 also.
How the feel?
@@wo1463 Since the damper is turned down so much it does not feel much different. It is an unnecessary addition that was just for fun and looks.
Just wanted to install the dampener on the throttle but it seems Fanatec changed something or the inverted ones have a different throttle (which i doubt): The small cylinder that goes into the throttle that gets the hex from both sides simply doesn't fit into the throttle. It's 3mm too wide.
I have the inverted V3 pedals with the stock flat long gas pedal what set of holes should I connect the Damper to?
The first set from the bottom or the 2nd set where the ground bold is?
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
If you have the means, would it be worth installing 2? 1 for the brake and 1 for the throttle?
My csp brake pedal has a travel of about 5cm (2 inches). Do you think I'll found a noticeable benefit if I install the damper kit on it? Thanks.
Is it neccessary to get one for gas and one for brake? Would the best PS4 pedals be Clubsport (inverted?) with 2 dampers and also brake performance mod? Seems odd that Fanatec wouldnt just offer this as a package.
I been reading the damper kit adds lift off lag to the throttle.
I really don’t understand what the extra bracket for the vibration motor is for. Just mounting the motor upside down with the original bracket gives the exact same result.
Quite the slow roll on these v3 pedal kit, since you've tested everything in different videos. Very informative though!
I do reiterate I'd like a review of the rumble feature, which would still be the biggest attraction to me if it can help someone bring the car closer to its limit.
The “rumble” feature is a joke. It’s barely perceptible and not even remotely perceptible if you’re using buttkickers. That said, I LOVE my V3 pedals.
I use the fanaleds to get the rumble. I only noticed the rumble after I have responded to the auditory indicators. I don't have buttkicker so I can feel pedel rumble through my wrestling shoes. Is it worth it? Not if you have to pay extra to get pedals rumble. Spend it on 4 buttkicker instead. If you are never going to get buttkickers........then pedles rumble it's cheap .
You really don't notice the rumble in the pedals at all. You CAN feel them, but you have to REALLY pay attention, and then it's just barely noticeable. When you are driving/racing and focused on the road, you won't notice them at all. I thought I would use the "ABS" setting on the wheel to tell me when I was getting close to 100% by setting abs to 85-90%, but it just isn't useful in that way.
i own the V3 pedals, If you have a thick sole shoes it will be much more difficult to feel the rumble in the pedals. If you drive thin sole shoes or socks you will feel it. In my opinion the throttle motor is stronger than the brake motor in my particular set of pedals.
I put double rumble stronger motor in my v2 and feels awesome.
When are you going to put your voluptuous hair through the in depth and stringent SRG review process?
curious if anyone reading this (or barry) has experienced the pedal feeling sluggish or slow to respond after the install? any reco's on how to get it to feel a little more lively on deceleration?
Quick question: to reduce the throttle pedal throw, do I push the spring rod in or out?
Out.
This throttle the paddle is probably more stiff than my g29 brake pedal
Great reiview, I just feel for the cos of the pedals, plus the damper plus the performance kit - we re going into HE sprint territory in terms of price
Sprints are 600 v3’s are now 375
How may I obtain the hardware that you have for hanging your steering wheels on? Any help would be appreciated.
