Today they get the spotlight with a video talking about how the Clubsport Pedals are best described as the 'Main Battle Tank' of sim racing hardware, up to the task for almost everyone that gets stuck into sim racing.

Had maybe 10 practice laps and then jumped In my first race, where I beat my previous PR on 4 different laps. And every lap through the entire race was within .5 sec!

    I think it is important that people who actually paid out of their own pocket voice their opinion because it's an investment into a hobby, not just an advertisement for the company. I find that all the reviewers who got fanatec gear for free say the same thing, I think their opinions would change if they actually had to shell out the hundreds of dollars for a product they put on a pedestal.

    • @nejcmirtic529
      @nejcmirtic529 2 года назад +3

      At least from my experience they are not worth it, I find the build quality lacking, and mine started acting up with developing play on the throttle pedal, and the horror story continued with the set screw loosening up and scratching up the axis that holds the brake in place and I noticed that only after the pin got dislodged during a race, which caused a very horrible feel of the pedal (that was after 7 months of buying them). And all that happened because of the lazy design/machinning. If the axis had the flat spot for the set screw most of that would never happen (now I sanded the axis down and added that flat spot for the screw). Not to mention the well known problem of LC element popping the welds. In the entire time I have them, I was to this day unable to find a combination of elastomers that would really make me have the best feel for the brake.
      And when compared to the BJ Steel GT Mechanical ones for 460€ and DC3 which are also 460€ I find the V3s a very badly made toy vs serious sim racing gear. And I am really sad I didn't know about the DC and BJs beforehand, would have added those 70€ and gotten a proper set of pedals.

      @@Bobbarker23455 Glad yours work as they should. I must say that my CSW 2.5 is a really nice wheelbase and has been working like a champ for the entire time. But I decided that I will not be investing any extra money into their ecosystem, due to the (in my opinion) many questionable engineering solutions throughout their lineup. Which includes the QR design, buttons on the Universal Hub, and now from what I am hearing the all hyped CSL DD. The shaft slips every few months an the wheelbase starts disconnecting mid race etc. In some cases even completely detaches from the rest of the base. So when I decide to upgrade I am going full in with either BJ/VRS/HE pedals and VRS or Simucube wheelbase and DIY rims. And even if I decide to put a touch screen on it and make it fully out of CF, it will still come at around 300-400€ which is comparable with many Fanatec rims.

    Fanatec Clubsport pedals are kinda like Top Gear's Indestructible Toyota Pickup. I've had a set of Clubsport v1's that I bought way back in 2011, and they're still going strong. Every once in a while I may need to lubricate the pedal shafts or clean some dirt that's built up around the throttle's magnet sensor, but that's just routine maintenance as far as I'm concerned.
    People can say what they want about the quality/ reliability of other Fanatec products, but they damn sure know how to make a solid set of pedals.

      Thanks man - I don't have the CSL load cell kit but I did buy some standard CSL Pedals to test them and I gotta admit, they are very disappointing to use, even when factoring in the very low cost. I'll be doing a quick roundup on those soonish, but in a nutshell they're built great for the money but the braking feel is SO bad and unnecessarily so, it could be so much better with so little effort - in the time I used them I was totally unable to dial in braking because it's so woolly and vague with so little resistance in the foam block. When I get the LC kit I'll be able to give a full review because I'm sure it's a completely different situation with the LC module, but if I had to pick between the standard CSL Pedals and a Logitech pedal set fitted with truebrake, I'd take the Logi/Truebrake combo any day.

    Just putting this oput there, I use these on carpet and all you have to do is rest ur foot on the base to keep them from tipping back when braking. I also have instinctively learnt to slighly pull myself towards my desk using the wheel to prevent my chair from rolling back under braking (this may be a different story on hard floor). I also use a wooden plank in between the wall and the pedals because the pedals will go sideways over time mainly due to braking. Overall, and atleast on carpet, i would reccomend these for a desk setup.

    No one ever talks about maintaining your peddles I haven't had mine a year and I've had to strip clean and regrease then twice and it's a bit of a pain I might race 10 to 15 hours a week so how do these youtubers manage when they race all day every day..😏.?

      Had my V3s for 2 years and never had to touch them. What was happening with yours that prompted you to have to clean them up?

    Great pedals overall, but only buy them if you include the Brake Performance Kit imo. Shitty by Fanatec to not include them, but it makes the brake feel so much better. Without them it just feels kinda meh.
