  • Hey BEAT family! So, I've made an executive decision to stay off of Instagram...SIGNIFICANTLY. In this video I outline several Biblical principles that influenced me to make this decision.
As I state in this video, this is not a strike against Instagram as a platform, this is a personal decision I have made to limit my time on Instagram. So, I'd love to hear from you after you watch this video whether you agree or disagree with these principles and my decision regarding Instagram.

Hey BEAT family! Today's video is a bit different. I'm talking about why I've made the decision to significant avoid Instagram (and really, most of social media TBH). Although these are personal convictions, I also believe they are Biblical as well. So, let me know your thoughts and whether you agree or disagree. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this. Thanks and enjoy!

Allen thank you for making this. I shared it with my wife cause she has social media which takes time away from God, even though she says she follows “Christian” people and people with families. She gets extremely mad every time I bring it up but I know she gets mad because it’s true. It’s not just you but everyone who has social media is taking time away from God and 99% of the internet are the tools of the devil to get us away from the Lord. I just wish people would see it how i do 😔, especially my wife. To much idolatry and sin happening on these platforms that it’s not worth having as a true Christian. God bless you Allen and everyone who has social media. May the Holy Spirit guide you out of this evil the satan tries to disguise as harmless.

It's good that you're open & honest about this problem. Another well known preacher has admitted to avoiding Instagram for your very 1st same reason & asks his wife to look up any female that he needs to research for his ministry, I think he gets another family member to administer his TikTok account too. This is so wise. Social media is not for every christian, we have to follow the lord's leading on what we should be using. Thanks for this helpful video.

Social Media was destroying my marriage through thirst traps, jealousy, social drama, distraction, and political algorithms. We were fighting all the time and had become so distracted. One year ago, we were at a breaking point when my husband had yet another anxious episode (triggered by social media drama). We both got rid of FB and IG. It was one of the best decisions we ever made. We have so much more peace and unity and are less distracted. We still have a lot to work on but Social Media had become a poisonous root in our marriage that had to be pulled out!

Bro. I literally told my wife this two days ago. I told her how I'm struggling with looking at other women a little too long, and one of my biggest traps is social media. My ministry is primarily accomplished through social media which makes it tough. I'll continue to work hard at this. God help me and all other men struggling with the same thing. And if you think I'm the only married man who struggles with it, you're playing yourself. "Confess your sins to one another". The more we're open about this, the more likely we are to overcome this by the grace of God.

    - Stay away from the explore page. You can waste HOURS and it won’t give you anything.
    - unfollow any public person / influencer that doesn’t bring you closer to God
    - unfollow every meme page or so
    - keep your follower list tight and stay with your friends and family
    - also follow a few (!) Christian pages that post Bible verses. God can speak through instagram too.

I LOVE this amen! I made a decision to sell my old iPhone and get a minimalistic phone called the 'Light Phone' in May of this year and it has changed my life drastically. I used to be so consumed by my phone that I would spend hours upon hours on social media and walk away forgetting most of what I just saw. It became too much so I bought the Light Phone which only has calling, texting, alarm, calculator, podcasts, and music. It's AMAZING. I'm much more sociable, and free in life. And things definitely seem a lot quieter which gives my brain so much time to relax and only take in what matters. I spend my time doing a lot more cooking, cleaning, and I work out almost every day. For a life change like this, you have to want it, all of it. It's so worth it and I do not miss social media at all- in fact, I barely think about it. Most of all- more time of the day is spent with God, which is what matters most.

Since August I have been concerned with the number of middle school students in my daughter’s school district that have IG accounts because their teachers and coaches have chosen to use that media to post info about their classrooms and teams etc. They are almost being forced to set up accounts. It makes me sad! I’m sharing this in hopes to bring more attention. Thank you!!

you could make an Instagram and follow those pages for her so she has the information. I say this in support of your view that she’s too young for it. It’s tough to maintain that security as a parent and the world will make you feel like you’re being too much, but I plead with you to maintain your view and keep her protected from what’s out there. I’m 27 and I deleted everything, because the emotional impacts it was having. I couldn’t imagine a middle schooler having the coping skills to deal. @@erasetoys1489 Before I share the verses about women serving in ministry in the Bible, I would like the opportunity to define what ministry is. The Greek word for ‘ministry’ is (diakonia) originally meant “waiting at tables' ', Though in Esphesians 4:12, it's not speaking about works of generalized service, but rather the work of bringing God’s message to people. That’s the work of ministry. So, one can come to define ministry as “someone who serves humbly.”
According to 1 Timothy 2:12, I agree with what scripture states and I do not minister to men, the ministry that God has blessed me with does not contradict what scripture states according to Titus 2:3-4.
I personally believe that many of us who are in the body of Christ may have a limited view when it comes to ministry because many people believe that it is only limited to those who are on the pulpit. For instance, the life we live is a ministry. People are watching the way that we live because within our actions, we are speaking to the world what we truly believe, for the Bible states that everything that we do, we must do it to the glory of God. In my life, I minister to people by serving Christ, respecting and submitting to my husband, and nurturing/loving my children.
Here are a list of women who helped share the Gospel and those who were in ministry in the New Testament Mary Magdalene Luke 8:1-3, Mark 15:40, Lydia in Acts 16: heard the gospel and believing that it was for everyone, she bore witness to her entire household, the apostles also stayed with her a while and she also used her resources to cater to their needs financially etc. She was both successful in her professional and spiritual work nurturing the Greek church, Damaris, Phoebe in Romans 16:1-2 Paul specifically identifies about Phoebe as a co-laborers in sharing the gospel and she served as a deacon in the church,, Pricilla in Acts 18:2, and Junia. Also, in the Old Testament we can recognise Anna the Prophetess who served in ministry day and night and she never left the temple Luke 2:37. Miriam who served her brothers Moses and Aaron etc
Oh, I forgot one more things which I believe will also help those who may have questions concerning women who are Sunday school teachers for young children including boys and girl and women they are not in error because Titus 2:3-4 supports this in scripture.
      Hopes this helps.

Wow, God knows I really needed to hear this message. I've been debating on whether or not I should fast from Instagram because it has been distracting me from my walk with Christ and and it is costing me sooo much money. I can barely save money because I'm always buying stuff I see in ads. 😩

I’m glad Allen is bringing this up, this will help many unbelievers feel like that can come to God even though they have urges and sin. We are all human, we are just doing our best to live right by God.

True, but we are still sinners, even though we are reborn that doesn't mean we will sin again,we all sinned and have you even watch the hunchback of notre dame, that judge frollo think that he is righteous but sense when a righteous, blameless, saint man has commits atrocities of crimes and sins, you call that righteous more like sinful, and we will sin again accidental and willingly even though we are considered good people but in reality there is no such thing as a good people there is only one who is actually truly righteous and deserve to be titled "sinless"
Jesus christ and God,as christian sinners, god still loves us and forgive us, he will forgive all sins accidental and willingful sins as long we accepted jesus as our lord and savior.

For me, the biggest problem has been getting stuck with reading comments from everyone on facebook. It could be an article or video or whatever but then I am tempted to click and read the reactions of people in their comments and it almost always leaves me confused and frustrated and angry!! Facebook allows every person on the planet to dump their opinion out there no matter how untruthful, decieving, or provoking it might be!

    • @nostalgicbliss5547

Yea this is probably the main issue I had with social media. Spending minutes just reading comments. Sometimes they can be insightful, funny, but other times they are just so perplexing . Social media has done a lot of good in terms of talking about issues like mental health and promoting really talented individuals, but it can be used for some really depraved things, misinformation and disinformation galore everywhere.

People are no longer led by the spirit and can no longer feel when the Holy Spirit is grieved!! I’m so glad you made this video because ppl are no longer sensitive to the The Holy Spirits promptings….everyone is seeking fame and no longer seeking him! Keep preaching the truth!!

This video is right on time. I was just thinking on yesterday, that I was spending too much time on social media and not on reading the bible. I would say to myself, I'll start reading the bible in a few minutes and a few minutes turns into an hour and then I am too tired and sleepy to read the bible. I mainly try to use social media to follow family and close friends, but end up looking at other posts. I am praying about this, because I do enjoy wishing family and friends happy birthday, anniversary and replying to inspiration scripture posts.
